The information market is constantly changing. With new and improved information technology more people get access to more information faster. However, the number of people educated to handle information also increases. Business intelligence has for a long time been a well-known tool for companies to be competitive. Because of the increased access to information the competition between companies has intensified and more people have become aware of the advantages of business intelligence and how it can help them compete.

When SKL (Swedish National Laboratory of Forensic Science) gets images to analyse, the task often is to identify a person or an object. In that work it?s important to find features. Unfortunately images from camera surveillances often contain a lot of noise, so details can be hard to discern.A simple method to improve an image from a sequence is to compute the mean of some of the images. However, the part of interest in the image has to be in the same position in all images.

The purpose of this study is to characterize the research in the field of Knowledge Organization, during the period of 1990-2002, focusing on the subject and the epistemology of these studies. The result shows that studies concerning representation, e.g. subjects such as classification, indexing and bibliographic description, are the most frequently researched areas throughout the period. Classification was more popular in the beginning of the period, but later bibliographic description, mostly with studies on metadata, became more visible, together with a growing interest in information retrieval. The theoretical discussions in the studies focused primarily on document analysis and the organization of digital documents.

Syftet med denna undersökning var att beskriva och få en fördjupad förståelse i hur musikundervisning i klass på gymnasiets musikestetiska program kan bidra till ett ökat självförtroende och dess betydelse för lärandet hos den enskilde eleven. Frågeställningarna har främst fokuserat på begreppet självförtroende, hur det ses på av olika lärare samt hur de förhåller sig till detta i sin undervisning. Vidare ville vi undersöka huruvida ett negativt självförtroende påverkar elevens prestationer inom klassundervisningssammanhang på gymnasiets musikestetiska program samt om det finns verktyg som lärarna använder sig av för att öka elevernas självförtroende. Studien genomfördes i form av fyra stycken kvalitativa intervjuer med verksamma musiklärare inom gymnasiets musikestetiska program. Vi har bland annat kommit fram till att de intervjuade inte känner till någon specifik forskningsteoretiskt förankrad metodik, men har dock alla utvecklat egna sätt för att bibehålla eller stärka sina elevers självförtroende inom klassundervisning i musik..

Detta examensarbete utfördes på IDA (Institutionen för datavetenskap) vid Linköpings universitet. Syftet med det här examensarbetet var att utveckla ett program som skulle skapa förutsättningar för generativ konst med hjälp av MyPaint som är ett digitalt rit/målarverktyg. Metoden gick ut på att registrera vad användaren skapat för komponenter, dvs. musinteraktioner och kortkommandon, och därefter använda dem algoritmiskt.Examensarbetet resulterades i ett program (SharpArt), som fångar musinteraktioner samt simulerar tangentbordstryckningar (kortkommandon) från och till Mypaint, vilket i sin tur skapar komponenter som används algoritmiskt. Programmet kan även positionera objektet på canvasen enligt det önskade koordinatvärdet..

  ABSTRACTThere is a limited possibility for many of the concert-goers to go behind the stage and follow the work process with putting together a program for the concert season in a concert institution. The purpose of this study is to describe a concert institution's work with developing a concert program for each season. This is done through a presentation of the factors affecting the work. This is a descriptive essay and a case study of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. Interviews have been made with people directly involved in the work or affected by the outcome of the work process.

In this Bachelor thesis I explore sound and room as elements in design of user interfaces, both theoretical and practical in a specific application domain, to identify some of the advantages and disadvantage associated with these elements. As application domain I studied email clients and their usage at home amongst students at Blekinge Institute of Technology. In the study I found an activity, which seems to be highly distributed in the physical room where the user is located. The activity was notification of email and could take place in an arbitrary location of the home. I then augmented this activity with ideas from my theoretical assumption about room and sound. The result was a rule-based agent for notification of email, which primarily uses sound as interaction style..

Varje år tar två sjökaptensprogram, ett fyraårigt program med fartygsförlagd utbildning och ett treårigt program som kräver att studenten har tidigare erfarenhet av arbete som matros, examen från Sjöfartshögskolan i Kalmar. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur de nyutexaminerade styrmännen upplevde sin första tid i yrket som styrman, om de hade de nödvändiga förkunskaperna för att klara av sitt jobb och om det skilde sig mellan styrmännen från de olika programmen. För att undersöka detta användes en kvalitativ metod där personliga intervjuer genomfördes. Tio styrmän, fem från varje program, som tagit examen från Sjöfartshögskolan i Kalmar våren 2012 valdes slumpvis ut för intervjuer. Resultatet från intervjuerna visade att styrmännen var nöjda med sina förkunskaper från Sjöfartshögskolan i Kalmar.

The purpose of this essay is to analytically review and discuss architecturalcompetitions, mainly through the general views of a few selected workinglandscape architects, architects and scientists. I have studied the moral and workethicalaspects of using graphical presentations as a mean to draw attention,rather than trying to meet the set program points.My results are derived from e-mail interviews, literature studies and studies ofthe competition entry Stockholmssfären from the competition Stockholmsportenwhich was held in Sweden early 2011.The literature studies have shown that the available literature on architecturalcompetitions and research on the subject is biased towards architecture ratherthan landscape architecture. Worth mentioning is also that there is not a lot ofavailable literature, mainly due to lacking research on the subject.The informants for the interviews were selected based upon their academicmerits and/or experience of working with or doing scientific research onarchitectural competitions. The landscape architects? opinions regardingarchitectural competitions turned out to be in many ways alike ? they seemed tohave a pretty relaxed view of competing in architecture.

The aim of this thesis is to study a job-searching process and elements that affects it. The elements I have focused on are gender, class and social network. The study is based on interviews and a survey study with students from the educational program of Social work (Socialomsorgsutbildningen), that graduated 3 years ago. Through the survey I have examined their social-background and their job-searching process. The interviews are the main focus in the study.

Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur olika trädgårdsrelaterade program inom kriminalvård kan vara utformade och hur dessa program påverkar de intagna. Studien är designad som en litteraturstudie kompletterad med intervjuer och erfarenhetsberättelser från intagna och personal på fängelser. I resultatet framkom att trädgårdsterapi och trädgårdsrelaterade aktiviteter inom kriminalvård kan vara utformade i rehabiliterande syfte, som yrkes- eller utbildningsinriktade program, arbete eller som alternativ till annan sysselsättning. Erfarenheter från personal och intagna samt forskning visar i denna studie att trädgårdsterapi och trädgårdsrelaterade aktiviteter inom kriminalvård kan gynna de intagna. Hälsoeffekter som framkom var bland annat bättre samarbetsförmåga, ökad socialisering och minskad stress.

Based upon The Bologna Process and UPC.In a near future several of the European countries will begin working after new guidelines concerning a declaration called the Bologna process. Everything will be done one step at a time and the declaration will change the way the students are being graded, all this for the sake of making the European labour-market moreopened for all of its millions of students.In Växjö this process is in the making, but to adapt to the future demands the school must also change its ways of teaching.To increase its quality the University has put together a procedure of actions to improve the pedagogical working method in all its institutions. In this essay we would like to elucidate how the work with the Bologna process is proceeding within the institution of Mathematics and System Engineering and whatthey do improve their pedagogical teaching. By doing a qualitative case study on the student at the Computer Science program we wish to find the answers to our questions..

Background: Sleep-disturbances in persons with Alzheimer´s disease are prevalent. They are characterized as increased frequency and duration of awakenings, decreased slow-wave sleep, REM-sleep and increase of day-time napping. Depression and lower quality of life are associated with sleep-disturbances. Altogether a significant source of stress for caregivers and an important factor in institutionalization. Non-pharmacological treatment alternatives are rare.Method: Single-case A-B-C design, with non-concurrent multiple baselines, a pilotstudy.Aim: To explore if an educational program on sleep, sleep disturbances and behavioural change directed towards caregivers improved sleep, depression and quality of life in persons with Alzheimer´s disease living at home.
