Mergers between companies has become more and more common in Sweden and in the rest of the world with the motive to increase the competitive strength in the current markets and has an important role within organisational development of companies. When organisations merger there is not only buildings and objects that are put together but also their individual organisational structures, people, values and cultures. This can be a difficult process and can affect many people in how they think conscious as well as unconscious, feel and react.The purpose of this thesis is to gain a deeper understanding of how employees are affected following a merger when changes in the organisational culture come up, and how these changes are expressed.This thesis is delimited to investigate only one company, Skruf Snus AB and only focus on their business and employees in the region of Stockholm. The thesis contains a qualitative investigation with semi structured interviews that has been carried out with eight employees at Skruf Snus AB. The thesis is partly based on a model of Schein which describes the different levels in organisational culture and partly on some theories about reactions to change in relation to the integration between the employees following a merger.The results of the investigation indicate that with a merger the whole organisational culture is affected and therefore also the employees.

AbstractThe purpose for writing this essay is to study the culture of kindness in the Church of Sweden, as the church constitutes as an idealistic organization (non-profit or voluntary organization).The focal point is on how such a culture affects the employees, and if any new componentsthat can amplify the concept can be distinguished.To do this a case study-design has been employed. The primary sources are qualitativeinterviews with six employees in a congregation in the Church of Sweden, and participantobservations on two different occasions at the same congregation.Theories of organizational sociology has been applied to the material, more specific Edgar HSchein?s definition of organizational culture and the concept of a culture of kindness (derivingfrom a report by the Swedish Work Environment Authority) as a specific part of the church?sorganizational culture.The conclusions we can make from our study is that a culture of kindness affect employees inboth a positive and a negative way. There are many expectations that come with working inthe Church of Sweden, and these do have an effect on the work performed. There is alsoevidence pointing to the fact that leadership can counteract the fear of conflicts that otherwiseis associated with the culture of kindness.

Organisationskultur och informationssökning. En fallstudie av internkommunikationen på ett folkbibliotek
This thesis aims to identify bottlenecks in the internal communication of aSwedish public library. Specifically, it addresses the behaviour of the library staff when they seekfor work-oriented information through interaction with their colleagues. A fundamental assumptionof this study is that the information-seeking process depends on organisational culture. I have madean exploratory case study in a medium-sized Swedish public library, where relevant issues areidentified and correlated with the culture of the organisation.I have used Schein's three-level model to describe the culture of the library; this model definesculture as a set of basic assumptions and the actions of people as expressions of their culture. Datafor the study were gathered using several approaches, including interviews with the library staff andobservations of them.
En tävlingsorienterad organisationskultur ? vad har det för betydelse för motivationen? : En studie om försäljare inom en specifik butikskedja
The purpose of this study was to examine the experience of organizational culture among salespeople at a specific workplace. The purpose was also to investigate what motivates these salespeople in their work and the impact culture has on their motivation. We have used a qualitative research method to collect the empirical material. With the help of seven interviews, including six salespeople from one of Sweden?s biggest electronic retailer and also one information interview with a sales consultant, we attempted to find the answer to how they perceive the organizational culture and how it affects their work motivation. The following questions are used to fulfill this purpose: ? How do the salespeople experience the organizational culture? ? What motivates the salespeople in their daily work? ? What effects does the organizational culture have on the salespersons motivation? As analytical tools we have used are the concept of organizational culture, Schein's description of the three components of culture and Herzberg Motivation-Hygiene theory. The results of the study indicate that the salespeople experience a positive organizational culture and that this culture promotes fellowship and unity between colleagues, which in turn contributes to an enhanced motivation.
Socialiseringsprocessen i revisionsbyråer : En studie om skapandet av organisatoriskt engagemang
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to contribute with knowledge regarding the connection between the socialization process and the organizational commitment perceived by junior accountants. Based on Van Maanen and Schein's (1979) model, we intend to identify and describe how selected socialization strategies affect junior accountants? perceived affective, continuous and normative commitment during the initial five years in the firm.Research methodology: Semi-structured interview was chosen as the key approach for gathering essential data. Interviews were conducted at three major accounting firms with a total of eight interview participants. The study has a qualitative approach because of the ability to go in depth on the studied phenomenon.Conclusion: The socialization process consists of individual, informal, sequential, fixed, serial, and investiture strategies.

Personal interviews were conducted with two store managers and two deputy store managers at SIBA. Conclusion: We have found that the artifacts: role-models, stories and rituals communicate the transformative leadership. Franchiseföretaget jobzone : En studie om utmaningar och problem kring överföring av affärskoncept och organisationskultur
ABSTRACTHelena Nowachek The purpose of the following study is to focus upon the possibilities and challenges associated with the transference of corporate culture from one organization to another. I have chosen to address this by looking at the franchise company Jobzone, which works specifically with recruitment and outsourcing. As a method I have interviewed three people in Jobzone: one person who is responsible for education, one franchising boss in Sweden and one franchisee. To delineate the concept of culture I apply both Schein?s model, in which he divides culture into the three levels of artifacts, values and basic assumptions, as well as a general theory of communication.

Kulturers påverkan på ledarskap i multinationella företags dotterbolag
Betydelsen av kulturer har ökat till följd av globaliseringen och uppkomsten av multinationella företag. En intressant aspekt är därför att undersöka huruvida det är nationell kultur eller organisationskultur som präglar ledarskapet i ett utländskt dotterbolag vars kultur är vitt skild från moderbolagets. Därför ämnar denna studie att undersöka vad som influerat utformningen av ledarskapet på det svenska multinationella företaget Perten Instruments dotterbolag i Kina. Detta genom att se om ledarskapet speglar landets egna nationella kultur eller om det har influerats av företagets organisationskultur och därmed mer stämmer överens med den svenska kulturen. Studien utfördes genom intervjuer med anställda på moderbolaget i Sverige och dotterbolaget i Kina.

The aim of this study is to examine how the induction period for newly employed upper secondary school teachers is implemented in practice, in relation to the Swedish Education Act and the National Agency for Education?s general guidelines. Although this induction period has been legally mandated since 2010, both previous research and current statistics indicate significant shortcomings or wide variation in its practical execution.
The study is based on a qualitative interview study involving 13 school leaders. The interview responses were analyzed using three complementary theoretical frameworks: Lipsky?s theory of street-level bureaucracy, Meyer and Rowan?s concept of decoupling, and Schein?s model of organizational culture.

This is a thesis based on a study about organizational socialization and concerns a company?s intentions as well as new employees? experiences during introduction. The study had four different purposes. First, it was to examine what Mölnlycke Health Care wished to achieve with its introduction as well as what they wished new employees should incorporate during introduction. Second, the purpose was to understand how new employees at the same company have perceived how the introduction has changed them.

leadership roles experience the influences of the organization's structure and
culture on their formal leadership?
The theoretical starting point is Weber's organization theory, Schein's
organizational culture theory, and different definitions of leadership.

Att leva som man lär : Implementering av företagskultur vid företagsförvärv
Så mycket som 83 % av alla företagsförvärv misslyckas med att öka aktieägarvärde och hela 53 % minskar till och med i aktieägarvärde (Daniel & Metcalf, 2001). Det är mycket lättare att göra själva affären, än att få den att fungera menar Nguyen & Kleiner (2003). Misslyckade företagsförvärv beror oftast på kulturella skillnader mellan företag och implementering av företagskultur är en nyckelfaktor för ett framgångsrikt företagsförvärv (Lodofors & Boateng, 2006).Syftet är att undersöka implementering av företagskultur efter ett företagsförvärv och att kartlägga ledningens och mellanchefernas egna upplevelser av framgångsfaktorer och svårigheter under processen.I den teoretiska referensramen definieras företagskultur och beskrivs utifrån ett flertal kulturella nivåer där värderingar får särskild uppmärksamhet då studien fokuserar på värdegrundsarbete. Det görs även en beskrivning av olika sätt att utveckla kulturer på. Vidare beskrivs faktorer som ledning och chefer bör ta hänsyn till vid implementering av företagskultur.
