This master's thesis deals with the public library project called the GÖK-project, whichconcerned three Swedish public libraries: Linnestaden (Göteborg), Örnskoldsvik and Kalmar.The general outlines for the project were: reconsideration of the conception of the literaryquality, improvement of the library services, adjustment to the library user and reconsiderationof the conception of adult education to the public libraries of the 90s. The projectcaused a big national debate with effort put on the conception of the literary quality.The topic of this master's thesis is partly the GÖK-project and its general outlines, partly theaccomplishment of the project, the main point put on the public library in Linnestaden(Göteborg)..

We have carried out a study of a classification system for the Swedish collection at The Royal Library in Stockholm from 1887. It was printed in 50 copies. The constructor, Bernhard Lundstedt, and his colleagues used it as guidance in lack of a catalogue. We regard it a local classification system. Little research has been done on old classification systems, but Francis Miksa points out the importance of examining them.

NÀr de traditionella skrivbordsapplikationerna görs om till webbapplikationer, stÀller det krav pÄ JavaScript som anvÀnds mer och mer för att fÄ fram ett responsivt grÀnssnitt pÄ webben. För att underlÀtta utvecklingen av JavaScriptapplikationer har ett antal funktionsbibliotek skapats. I vÄr studie undersöker vi dÀrför vilket av de tvÄ populÀraste JavaScriptbiblioteken idag, jQuery och Prototype, som presterar bÀst i dagens mest anvÀnda webblÀsare. Dessa tester har utförts i ett testramverk som vi sjÀlva utvecklat för att vara webblÀsaroberoende och inte krÀva nÄgot av de bibliotek vi testar. Testerna Àr uppdelade i fyra testfall som körs 20 gÄnger för att ge ett mer tillförlitligt resultat. Vi har testat hur varje bibliotek hanterar traversering och manipulation av DOM-trÀdet, sÀtter och hÀmtar stilar och attribut pÄ element i DOM-trÀdet och hanterar event pÄ element i DOM-trÀdet. Testerna visade att biblioteket Prototype presterade bÀttre pÄ alla utom ett testfall i majoriteten av vÄra utvalda webblÀsare; det enda testfallet dÀr jQuery presterade bÀttre Àn Prototype var dÀr DOM-trÀdet skulle manipuleras.

Som ett led i att kunna erbjuda bÀttre information och service till nyföretagare har det i VÀster- och Norrbotten initierats ett projekt ? Bibliotekskompaniet ? bibliotek och företag i samverkan. Projektet syftar till att utbilda bibliotekarier i att bli bÀttre rustade att möta företagarnas informationssökningsbehov genom att utveckla bibliotekariernas kunskaper inom företagande och vad det kan innebÀra. Projektet syftar ocksÄ till att öka företagares kunskaper om vilka slags resurser biblioteken inom projektet kan erbjuda som kan vara nyttigt för dem.Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att undersöka vad representanter för kommunernas service för nyföretagande i VÀsterbotten anvÀnder sig av för informationskÀllor och hur de ser biblioteken som en resurs för informationssökning. Uppsatsen fokuserar pÄ representanter för kommunernas service för nyföretagande för att de i ett tidigt skede i förstudien till projektet besvarade en enkÀt för projektets rÀkning vars syfte var att undersöka eventuellt intresse av samarbete mellan respondenterna och biblioteken.Uppsatsen visar att respondenterna i dagslÀget endast anvÀnder sig av biblioteken som resurs för privat rÀkning, och i vÀldigt liten eller inte alls nÀr det gÀller sin yrkesutövning.

AnSyn AB Àr ett företag i Linköping som utvecklar programvara för att optimera analog elektronik. I deras program Analog Dimensions finns en visualiseringsmodul som ritar upp de kopplingsscheman som elektronikkonstruktören arbetar med. Ansyn var inte nöjda med den lösningen de hade. Den gamla visualiseringsmodulen hade flera begrÀnsningar och i denna rapport kan du följa arbetet med att ta fram en ny visualiseringsmodul. Arbetet resulterade i en helt ny visualiseringsmodul som saknar de begrÀnsningar som den gamla visualiseringsmodulen hade.

Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att belysa folkbibliotekens arbete med crossoverlitteratur samt vilka möjligheter begreppet och fenomonet ger biblioteken, frÀmst nÀr det kommer till marknadsföring. De tre forskninsfrÄgorna rörde definition av crossoverlitteratur, placering och marknadsföring av crossoverlitteratur samt presentation av crossoverlitteratur i bibliotekskatalogen. De besvaras genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade telefonintervjuer med bibliotekarier pÄ sex olika bibliotek samt genom en granskning av nÄgra crossovertitlar i bibliotekens kataloger. Slutsatser som drogs var att det Àr ett svÄrdefinierat begrepp och att litteraturen fortfarande vÀrderas olika beroende vilken den tilltÀnkta Äldersgruppen Àr. Det Àr fortfarande en tydlig indelning mellan ungdom och vuxen pÄ de flesta bibliotek nÀr det gÀller placering och marknadsföring, men bibliotekarierna skulle vilja att grÀnsen blev mindre tydlig..

The intention of this essay is to describe the problems with loss of books at three Swedish University libraries. It?s based on interviews with librarians. The library codes of ethics, the library law and the terms of reference of the libraries are central for my understanding. Interview results: Little was being done to stop theft.

This study investigates the use of the social network Facebook among 67 Swedish libraries; 27 academic libraries and 40 public libraries. Data is collected through an analysis of the libraries? Facebook pages and through an email survey. To analyze the data, a series of statistical analyses were performed.The results indicate that the public libraries more actively posted Facebook updates than the academic libraries and that the libraries that had a policy for use of Facebook/social media more actively posted updates than those libraries that did not have such policy. The libraries use Facebook mainly to post links and photos and to announce events, provide book recommendations, and to emphasize special occasions.

This is a two years master?s thesis that studies five libraries. The purpose with the paper was to look at a specific material and study how it expresses itself around the architecture of the buildings, an if the descriptions were different depending on the library, public library or university library. The conclusion is that the ways of describing the library buildings have varied; depending on one part time and one part evolution. The purpose of the study was from the perspective of young people that has completed a stay at HVB-home. The respondents are between 15-21 years both boys and girls. The basic questions were: How do the respondents look upon this HVB-homes service process? How do the respondents look upon this HVB-homes service contents? How do the respondents look upon this HVB-homes service regarding available information and how the staff is available? What positive and negative experience do they have from their stay at the HVB-home? We also wish to get a picture of what is important to change to improve the quality on this HVB-home. To receive answers to those questions we formed a questionnaire.

The purpose was to examine how the pre-schools used the public libraries in two Swedishtowns. We also examined if and how the pre-schools and the public libraries were coopera­ting.Literature showed that it is possible to stimulate children's language development and this is a duty for pre-schools and public libraries. We sent an inquiry to all pre-schools divisions in both towns. We interviewed two librarians. Our results showed that the pre-schools did use the libraries to a great extent but they didn't cooperate with the libraries in the sense that they had elaborated agreements.

The purpose of this essay is to examine what happens with library e-resources after implementing the discovery tool Summon. Summon provides a Google-like experience and uses multiple facet options when users need to narrow their discovery. Observations of change in the libraries e-resources with regards to database searches, click-throughs in linkresolvers and full text downloads are examined through looking at earlier reports and statistics from libraries in America and England. The following thesis will examine how a smaller library manages the prioritization of media between Swedish and 'minority language'. We are also interested in the challenges and problems that can occur in such work, as well as how the librarians think about their role in the integration process. We have studied this through several qualitative interviews with librarians as well as earlier related research. The results show that librarians display a high propensity of appreciation related to working with minority languages and consider this an important aspect of their profession ? they fully ingratiate and accept the importance of helping the immigrant population in learning Swedish.
