Every year the Swedish government invests capital in different projects. In recent years the Swedish government has chosen to invest in design. The reason for this is that the government wants industry to use design as a competitive source. Two organizations, Svensk Form and Stiftelsen Svensk Indistridesign, have been assigned to improve industry and society?s under¬standing of design.

The aim of this paper is to examine which attitudes and experiences teachers have around the wide text concept, which is found in the course plan for the Swedish subject, and to find out which function films have in their teaching. The starting point of the paper?s theoretical part is the Swedish subject?s course plans and current research concerning the wide text concept and film in teaching. In order to achieve the formulated aim, qualitative interviews have been performed with three Swedish teachers active in the later years of compulsory-school.The result shows that there are divided opinions of the actual meaning of the concept. However the three teachers agree that film has something to enrich the teaching of the Swedish language and they are for most part positive to using film in their teaching.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze and map out the cyber culture of the Internet and its all users, identity, design theories and services. How people communicate and how they build up their identities are some of the baselines. I will also discuss the important aspects of Interaction design and how this can be used in a Community for digital storytelling. The Internet, or new media, was founded in the 60?s by some great philosophers (McLuhan, Rheingold, Lambert and more). With influence from their books I will discuss and analyze what kind of media the Internet is and how it can be seen as extensions to our senses, as McLuhan claims.

People in refuge face states with a dilemma. This dilemma consists of a wish (or obligation) to help those who need a refuge, and at the same time consider domestic issues such as financial costs and security problems. Thus, there are two perspectives which are important to consider when refugee policies are made. The aim of this paper is to see which perspective the EU had when making their migration policies. The question asked is: which perspective is behind the making of European refugee policy?The theories realism and idealism are used to describe the conflicts in the making of European refugee policies.

The essence of literature ? it?s voice, it?s meaning? has always been scrutinized of interest to readers and theorists. The language in itself has the power to revolt against and undermine current and dominant hierarchies. This language can also be of a passive nature, accepting existing norms and dichotomies. This paper has the ambition to examine the language, the voice, of Clarice Lispector in her novel A Hora da Estrela (The Hour of the Star).The theoretical horizon from which I will read The Hour of the Star is that of Hélène Cixous, which can be expressed through the term écriture féminine.

This study was commissioned by the Västerbotten sports federation, whocalled for an overview of the policies that the municipalities inVästerbotten work after in the field of sport. The study aimed to identifysports policy programs or documents that have been produced by themunicipalities, and how they work with them. Furthermore, the studyhighlights the municipality?s politicians reasoning aboutsport andrecreation-sector,and how their sport policy-work was practiced. The datacollection was based on seven interviews and document-collections fromthe 15 municipalities.

Syftet med undersökningen är att ta reda på vilken reda på vilka textvärldar några gymnasieelever rör sig i under sin fritid och de uppfattar relationen mellan dessa och skolans svenskundervisning. Det empiriska materialet samlades in på en praktisk gymnasieskola och det bestod av en enkätundersökning använd som screening-metod för efterföljande intervjuer med åtta elever. Resultatet visar att eleverna rör sig i många olika textvärldar på sin fritid, men att de tillmäter en stor del av dessa texter ringa kunskapsvärde och till följd härav menar de överlag att man inte bör integrera dessa texter i svenskundervisningen. Vår slutsats är att detta kan bero på samhällets och vuxenvärldens syn på vad som är bra respektive dålig text och att text som uppfattas som sann eller verklig tenderar att värderas högre ur ett kunskapsmässigt perspektiv. Vidare drog vi slutsatsen att det emellertid finns en vilja hos eleverna att lyfta in dokumentära inslag från fritidens textvärld i svenskundervisningen med anledning av att dessa anses besitta värdefull kunskap, då de värdesätter verklighetsbaserade texter högst..

Syftet med denna kvalitativa studie är att undersöka hur en grupp unga andraspråkstalare tar sig an en klassisk, äldre text skriven på ett förhållandesvis ålderdomligt språk, Selma Lagerlöfs saga Bortbytingen, med hjälp av dramapedagogiska övningar samt genom gestaltning och återberättande av den litterära texten. Metoden som används för att samla in material till studien är en triangulering av flera kvalitativa grepp: inspelade intervjuer, dels en fokusgruppintervju av eleverna, och dels en enskild intervju av deras sas-lärare; frågeformulär med enskilda svar från eleverna och deras lärare; loggböcker från eleverna och deras observerande lärare samt den deltagande forskaren; inspelningar av fem arbetspass inklusive det avslutande uppspelet.Resultaten visar att dramapedagogiskt arbete i samklang med en äldre text vars språk inte är omedelbart gångbart för nutida skolelever gav eleverna verktyg för att ta sig an textens innehåll och språkliga form, återberätta med egna ord, lära sig nya ord och uttryck, och leder till en ökad medvetenhet om svenska språket då och nu..

This paper is an analysis of the hell theme in Rob Bell's book Love Wins. A Book About Heaven, Hell and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived. Using a constructivist text analysis the essay examines how Bell creates a theology around the image of hell that he advocates. The study aims to analyze and explain how Bell constructs the meaning he advocates in the concept of hell. This includes an analysis of the passages in the book that discusses what the term hell refers to and the passages that deal with properties of hell.

Eftersom att samhället förändras ställs nya krav på vad läskunnighet innebär. Bilder omgeross ständigt och förmedlar budskap i lika hög grad som skriven text enligt det vidgadetextbegreppet. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att undersöka vad forskningen säger omeffekterna av användandet av bilder i samband med läsutveckling med utgångspunkt ilärandepotential för eleverna.Artiklarna var åtta till antalet och innefattade fem kvantitativa undersökningar och trelitteraturstudier. De teman som har betydelse är i de kvantitativa artiklarna; inferenser,arbetsminne, ögonfixering, bildpreferenser, fysisk interaktion med bilder samt läsförståelse. Ilitteraturstudierna identifierades 4 olika teman; lärarens roll, meningsskapande genom bildoch text, elevers utveckling och vår tids krav.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur elever i grundskolans senare år resonerar kring begreppen läsning och text, vad de läser på sin fritid och vilken inställning de har till läsning i skolan. För att få svar på dessa frågor genomfördes 12 kvalitativa intervjuer av elever i årskurs 7 och 9. Resultatet visar att eleverna inte har någon vana att resonera om läsning och begreppet text och att de till stor del förknippar läsning med böcker och skönlitteratur. Det vidgade textbegrepp som skolverket vill föra in i skolan var inte förankrat hos eleverna. När det kommer till elevernas läsning på fritiden så visade det sig att de möter en mängd olika texter som skiljer sig mycket från det de får läsa i skolan.

This thesis is a queer masculinity reading of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?s short story collection The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (1894). The analysis focuses on the dissonances, tensions and queerness that reside within the text itself. This has been done from my problem statement: How is Sherlock Holmes and John Watson?s sexuality and masculinity portrayed within the boundary of the text? What is being said, what is hidden, and what is dealt with silently? To reveal these queer parts this analysis has been focused around five themes: the late Victorian male, the Woman, countertypes and decadence, the homosocial sphere and sexuality.

The aim of this study was to measure the castration coverage and the attitudes among people towards castration in an area in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, where a castration program has been running for a few years. Another aim was to review the literature to examine the link between castration coverage and rabies prevalence. Two areas (Area 25 and Area 23) in Lilongwe were studied through standardized household interviews. In Area 25, a non-governmental organization had been castrating dogs weekly to twice weekly for free for 3 years. In Area 23, no official organization had done castrations, and this area therefore acted as a control in the study.

This thesis consists of a discourse and queer theoretical text and image analysis of school books in English used in the Swedish upper secondary school.  The whole content of two school books have been analysed from a norm critical perspective but one chapter in each of them has been analysed more thoroughly than the rest. These two chapters form the major part of the analysis.The thesis? problem formulation and objective derive from a personal experience of being a teacher student and part time teacher in Swedish schools. This experience shows the prevalence of a strong heteronormativity both in the schools? every day life and in the used school books.

The aim of this study is to examine how ADHD is discussed in the Swedish mass media. We have examined 21 articles from Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-Posten and Svenska Dagbladet. All articles are reviewed from the newspapers online edition.Theories used are Erving Goffman?s theory of Stigma and Michael Foucault´s theory of categorization as well as Göran Palm's, Renée Skogersson's and Anders R. Olsson's theories about mass media.
