This thesis examines how teachers in physical education work with gender and gender Roles in two religious schools in Stockholm. My main research questions were how the teachers relate to gender Roles, if they think of gender when planning the lessons and do the boys or the girls get more attention from the teacher, if so, how do they get it?This study is based on interviews and observations, which makes it a qualitative study. The purpose with this essay was to study and analyze how gender Roles is represented in six different mathematic books for children in the third and fourth grade and to see if the books counteract or reinforces traditional gender Roles. It was also to see if the mathematic books follow the goals in the curriculum. I had four questions that I focused on while analyzing the mathematic books:What kind of activities does girls and boys like in the exercises in the mathematic books?What does girls and boys own in the exercises in the mathematic books?What does the relationships look like between different persons in the mathematic books?Based on the results from questions 1-3, do these six mathematic books try to follow the curriculum?The results of this study shows that girls often can be interested in things that usually is seen as either girlish or boyish, while boys mostly is interested in things that is seen as boyish. I got almost the same results when it comes to the second question, girls can buy things that is often seen as either girlish or boyish, while boys mostly buy things that is seen as boyish.

Playing chamber music is not only about music - there are social and practical things to deal with too. For example things like how to decide practising times and how to share the responsibility of the practical things like finding score for the music and booking rooms for the rehearsals. And also how to choose a way to interpret a piece when members of the ensemble are having several different opinions about it, what kind of Roles people in the ensemble take and how these Roles work with each other. The main purpose of this thesis was to examine the collection management at five different hospital libraries´ children and youth?s section to discern different Roles of the collections. We made qualitative interviews with five hospital librarians. The purpose was also to see how the collection development affected the different Roles of the collections. We used two theories.

The picture book is the children's first contact with the world of literature. The aim of our study is to look at how children and adults are portrayed in the picture book, from a gender perspective. Our aim is to critically examine how girls and boys, men and women are presented when it comes to both characteristics and appearance. Our research also focuses on how the text and images complete each other and we conduct a qualitative text and image analysis. We use Nikolajevas (2000) analytical model for picture books and previous research that already exists within the subject.In our paper we have clarified the concepts related to gender: gender, gender Roles, gender equality and the picture book.

In this essay there will be four text books from grade 1 studied, the first one are from the year 1976 and it will be going forward to the year 2012. The aim of this study is to see how the genders are depicted and represented, as well as what Roles the genders are given. I do also want to see if there is a notable change in this over time. I will be doing a study based on the quantity of the contents, and I will also be doing a critical discourse analysis.The result of the study showed that there were more gender-based constructions that referred to women in all of the four books, which indicates that women are represented more often in these reading books. It is most common to portray the genders in their stereotypical Roles, which again are present in society, but sometimes these Roles are depart from what?s present in society.

By reading three 21st century books am I trying to see how the female friendship is described in literature of our days. The books are Rebell med frusna fötter by Johanna Nilsson, Lutherska badet by Unni Drougge and I närheten av solen by Hanna Wallsten. They are all written by Swedish authors and taking place in Stockholm in the early years of 2000. I am doing a critical reading against the Roles of ?heteronormativitet? as the word is described by Tiina Rosenberg and Fanny Ambjörnsson trying to see how the characters are following or breaking these Roles.
