With growing economies and better living standards in many parts of the world today, there is a need of expanding the capacity of generating electricity. The alternatives for renewable energy technologies are not fully developed and have still some problems to conquer.The company Minesto has developed a technology that is called Deep Green. It is designed to gain electricity from tidal currents. Deep Green works in a similar way as a kite that is attached to the seafloor with a moving wire. It contains of a wing that moves due to the water current.

I denna analys undersöker vi Sverigedemokraternas valframgång i kommunvalet i Landskrona 2006. Vi använder oss av tre olika sorters material: artiklar och insändare från Landskronaposten, valmaterial från de efter valet fyra största partierna, samt kvalitativa intervjuer med folkvalda och civilsamhällegrupper. Studien är hypotesprövande, där vi utifrån tre teser undersöker vårt material. Vi studerar dessa antagandens bärkraftighet och eventuella samband.Vi finner att många av rösterna på Sverigedemokraterna var proteströster mot det tidigare politiska styret. Vi finner även att stadens oklara roll samt Sverigedemokraternas hållning till de övriga partierna och vice versa har påverkat valresultatet.

On July 22, 2011 a bomb detonated in the government building in central Oslo in Norway and eight persons died. Later that day, 69 people, most of them youths, were shot down and killed on the island of Utøya by a uniformed Norwegian man.The purpose of this study is to analyse Anders Behring Breivik's personality and explain why he became a killer. I have used a Psychobiographical narrative method, which serves to describe the mind of a human being, linking the mind to motives, scripts, unconscious ideas and personality.My primary sources are Breivik?s Manifest: 2083 A European Declaration of Independence and the inter-views with his father and stepfather, together with the Psychiatric Reports which were submitted to the District Court of Oslo. I have analysed in what way Breivik?s childhood influenced his behavior as an adult.

This thesis in Art History and Visual Science is about values to graffiti and graffiti artist Banksy. I have studied values relating to Banksy´s graffiti images through which context they are placed in and where they are located. I have selected two different images of Banksy as an example on the basis of a transnational phenomenon, where the images that circulate in the public arena by street art and other images and imported into the galleries and consumption market. My conclusion is that the values of the images are based on the context in which each room have its surroundings and that therefore the impression will increase. The public space context, signal availability and the white cube context indicates art, and the commercial context signals goods and items that can be bought.

Drawing on theories of ethnic representations in mainstream news media and racial discrimination (van Dijk 2000, Hultén 2006, Husband & Downing 2005, Wodak 2011), and using methods of critical discourse analysis (mainly van Dijk 1993, 1991, Fairclough 1995) this bachelor thesis aims to investigate the inter-textual and inter-discursive relationship between selected editorial and opinion pieces written by three mainstream right wing ?symbolic elites? and the xenophobic blog ?Avpixlat?. The three selected symbolic elites are: Per Gudmundsson, editorial writer at the second largest Swedish newspaper SvD, Andreas Johansson Heinö, academic with a P.H.D. in political science, specialized on issues of integration and ethnic relations, and Paulina Neuding, editorial writer at SvD and editor in chief for right-wing oriented magazine Neo. All three are actively taking part in the mediated discussion of ethnic relations in Sweden from a liberal-conservative perspective.

Stödet för Sverigedemokraterna har ökat för varje år sedan de bildades år 1988 och har för första gången kommit in i riksdagen år 2010. Få undersökningar har gjorts om Sverigedemokraternas väljare. Vår studies syfte är att ta reda på vilka bakomliggande orsaker som ligger till grund för att vissa individer väljer att lägga sin röst på Sverigedemokraterna och försöka förstå hur dessa resonerar. För att uppfylla vårt syfte har vi använt oss av en kvalitativ forskningsmetod där semistrukturerade intervjuer har utförts med tio av Sverigedemokraternas väljare. De teorier vi har applicerat på studien behandlar främlingskap och ett vi och dem tänkande.

 The purpose of this thesis was to explore how the ideological self-image of the biggest Swedish governmental party, Moderaterna, has developed between 1993 and 2011. The second purpose was to compare this development on a fundamental ideological level, with development on the operative ideological level. This was to be made by qualitative analysis of the party?s ideological programs and election manifestos. Hopefully this would expose a pattern of the party?s ideological development. The findings of this thesis however, suggested that while the ideology on the fundamental level had radically changed, the ideology on the operative level has been characterized by continuity.

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the ideological development of the former communist parties and the contemporary left-wing socialist parties of the Nordic countries. It is aimed at the two decades that have passed since the collaps of the Berlin wall and the parties at hand are; the Norwegian Sosialistisk Venstre, the Danish Socialistisk Folkeparti, the Swedish Vänsterpartiet and the Finnish Vasemmistoliitto. Since the 1960´s these parties have undergone major ideological changes with reference to a widening of their political agenda to an inclusion of democratic ideals as well as the new ideologies of feminism and ecologism. Thus reforming them into modern left-wing socialist parties at different times. The main hypothesis is formulated from the idea that there must be a connection between the startingpoint of reformation and the degree of modernism/traditionalism they show today.

When an octopus of the species Thaumoctopus mimicus sense danger it can alter its appearance to that of a venomous sea snake. They are both drawing attention to themselves. Nevertheless, and because of this, they are protected. The mechanism is called mimicry.

Efter att ett debattinlägg undertecknat av Sverigedemokraternas partiledare publicerades i Aftonbladet i oktober 2009 började allt mer av mediernas utrymme att ägnas åt Sverigedemokraterna. Bland annat diskuterades vad som var lämpliga debattämnen när Sverigedemokraterna skulle bemötas.Syftet med denna undersökning är att undersöka vad dessa diskussioner kan ha för effekter på Sverigedemokraternas eventuella fram- eller motgång och vad detta innebär för det politiska klimatet. Fyra av de största dagstidningarna i Sverige har legat till grund för en diskursanalys. Analysen producerade sex teman debatten, samarbete, värderingar, verktyg, historia, och väljarna.Studien präglas av ett perspektiv som fokuserar på hegemonier och antagonistiska relationer. Vilket resulterade i upptäckten av ett antagonistiskt förhållande mellan Sverigedemokraterna och de etablerade politiska aktörerna.

The aim of this study is to provide an investigation of an ?old? political phenomenon that over the recent years has enjoyed a considerable revival across Europe. This study about nationalism is mainly based on empirical second hand source material from literature and articles providing us with both a historical as well as a contemporary insight in this ideology. This study shows us the complexity and the difficulties that the academia is facing regarding nationalism due to the dynamic nature of the ideology, in the sense that it simply means different things to different peoples in different cultures across different points in time. The study is conducted by using a phenomenological, qualitative and inductive method of gathering and interpreting information.  A handful of books have formed the foundation through the gathering of relevant empirical information, along with articles from both scientific publications as well as the mainstream media. The data have been studied and laid out to make key points regarding nationalism and the theory behind it clear for the reader.

The problem presented in this report is that of finding a method to calculate the lift force from a single-element airfoil of arbitrary shape. A number of restrictions are used in order to simplify calculations while retaining reasonable accuracy. The problem is solved for the two-dimensional case only and no finite-wing effects are taken into account. Furthermore, inviscid and incompressible flow is assumed. The method used to solve the problem is the vortex panel method, with vortex singularities distributed over simplified airfoil geometry.

The aim with this paper is to study how the integrational ideology of the Swedish parliaments party platforms, including the right wing Sverigedemokraterna, is formulated. The integration theories examined are assimilationism, multiculturalism, universalism and residualism. In turn these theories are simultaneously applied to the party platforms extracting explicit or implicit messages of the four former mentioned theories. The Swedish history of integration as well as immigration, which per capita is one of the highest in the European union, pinpoints the reason why this subject is due to further investigation. The results show that most of the parties contain traces of more than one integration theory, with the exception of primarily Sverigedemokraterna which focuses on assimilationism.

Denna studie behandlar området butikskommunikation och hur en glas- och presentbutik kan utforma butiksmiljön utifrån kundernas rörelsebeteende.Syftet är att ge förslag på hur Cervera:s butik (Boländerna i Uppsala) kan utveckla kundflödet, dvs. få sina kunder att röra sig på en större del av butiksytan och komma i bättre kontakt med sortimentet.Informationsinsamlingen har skett genom en observationsstudie av kundernas rörelsemönster samt kompletterats med kortare kundintervjuer. Olika metoder för strategisk varuplacering har testats i butiken för att undersöka deras användbarhet.Slutsatser vi kunnat dra är att butiken kan utveckla kundflödet genom att utforma ett högervarv, dvs. ett kundvarv som går i moturs riktning. Genom att placera varor strategiskt kan kunderna lockas av att följa kundvarvet igenom butikens alla avdelningar samt komma i bättre kontakt med butikens sortiment..
