The purpose of this essay is to examine the importance of personal election for candidates of foreign background. I made this, first, by map and comparing the candidates of foreign background in the recent Swedish and Finnish parliamentary election. Second, I analyze what conceptions candidates of foreign background, who was nominated in the 2006 municipal election in Örebro, have about the personal election. The result from the first study shows that personal election had a negative impact on candidates of foreign background in both the Swedish and Finnish parliamentary elections. The result from the second study shows that candidates of foreign background have both positive and negative conceptions about the personal election.

Detta arbete är utfört i syfte att undersöka tillämpningar bäst lämpade för implementationer av plattformsoberoende RESTful webbtjänster med fokus på användarautentisering och skalbarhet. Arbetets resultat gällande användarautentisering menar till att problematisera det allmänt sedda tvånget av en kommunikation bestående av fler än två parter samt menar att en resursförfrågan, för användaren, först blir säker då kommunikationen bryter mot REST och statelessness. Utgångspunkten för denna uppsats var att analysera gestaltningen av invandrare och utom-svensk kultur i svensk ungdomsfilm med syftet att uppmärksamma en eventuell bristande mångfald. Tillsammans med teorierna postkolonial teori och sociologi har sex utvalda filmer inom mellan åren 2006-2012 analyserats med problemställningar som ska lyfta fram den tänkbara frånvaron. Anledningen till problematiseringen av svensk ungdomsfilm kommer från kännedomen att ungdomsfilmens målgrupp är lättpåverkad och därför anser jag att denna genre har ett större ansvar när det gäller förmedling av ideologier och människosyn. Det samlade undersökningsmaterialet tyder på en omfattande avsaknad av icke-svensk etnicitet i filmer med svenska huvudkaraktärer, samt att de filmer som innefattar andra kulturer ofta skapar en intrig kring huvudkaraktärens etnicitet.  .

This thesis presents a qualitative, comparative study of the violence in the adaptations of Hunger Games (Tony Ross, 2012) and Battle Royale (Kinji Fukusaku, 2000). By analyzing the function of violence in a single scene in each of the movies, and comparing it to the literary original, the study aims to explore if there are any differences in the Representation of the violence in the two media. The study also briefly discusses whether the violence has any function in bringing the story forward in both the literary sources and in the films and what the motivation for the violence is. "The study also includes a brief analysis of the narratives in relation to the monomyth established by Jospeh Campbell. Specifically, I discuss the similarities between Hunger Games and Battle Royale, which are two stories that have been created in two different cultural traditions, and whether or not we can say that the stories derive from this monomyth." The result concludes that the monomyth can be found in both stories, but that the scenes which is analyzed has to be put into the context and furhter story of the film to be of any relvance to the theory.

Over the last decade the conversation on entrepreneurship has been both worldwide and intense. In Sweden, as in many other countries, this conversation has also concerned women?s entrepreneurship. Parallel with this conversation has been the debate on women in leading position in large corporations. This thesis aims to find out why and how women use entrepreneurship to handle existing conditions in life (such as the hardship of combining a traditional career with a traditional family life) and to create new conditions that suit them better.

The aim of this paper is to analyse how subject, gender and sexuality is constructed in the book Dårfinkar & dönickar (1984), by Ulf Stark. In relation to this I have also analysed how the main character, Simone, develops from being a child into becoming a teenager.Queertheory is the theoretical basis of this paper. Queer theory questions heteronormativity and aims to dissolve conceptions and notions that function in an excluding and limiting way. Queer theory also questions conceptions that seem obvious and/or natural, for example ?woman?/?man? and ?homo-/heterosexuality?.I have chosen to focus the analysis on a number key events in the book and they are categorised according to Tiina Rosenberg`s three dramaturgic concepts: transformation, unveiling and restoration.

This essay concerns dance as an exhibition object by examining the permanent exhibition at The Museum of Dance in Stockholm, Dansmuseet. Due to its dependence on the temporality and movement of the lived body, dance does not easily lend itself to being exhibited in a traditional exhibition display; and since the live dance performance itself is ostensibly absent at the exhibition display, other means of Representation must be relied upon in order to evoke the exhibition visitors? experiences of time and movement as well as the feeling of dance. Starting from a phenomenological first-person perspective, as an exhibition visitor, I present three ways in which such experiences may come about. The aim of this study was to examine the existing discourse of assault in Aftonbladet from the years 2012 and 2013. We have studied news articles and analysed them by using discourse analysis as theory and method.The study shows that the portrayal of perpetrators and victims in assault cases tend to differ depending on gender. The women is portrayed as weak and part of a homogeneous group while the man is portrayed as dominant and offered a more individual role. The study also shows that the normative group is separated from the deviate groups in society. The analyze show that media, through this Representation, maintains the normative power in society.

Uppsatsens huvudsyfte är att kartlägga hur könsfördelningen gällande manus som gick upp på bio såg ut under treårsperioden 2010 -2012. Den riktar därmed in sig på två skilda punkter, dels ur ett statistsikt perspektiv där uppsatsen kartlägger hur fördelningen mellan kvinnor och män ser ut angående manus som blivit film. The aim of this study is to investigate how new knowledge, discovered and translated by the archaeologist, is transferred to the public by examining the question posed to the archaeologist by ?la?nsstyrelsen,? the county administration office.Since there can be no mediation of knowledge without an understanding of its perception, I pay a visit to the cognitive sciences in order to answer what knowledge is and how it functions in regards to contract archaeological results.I argue that the current structure of mediation, in regards to archaeological knowledge, is in need of the same quality control that is demanded by the contractors in regards to standard archaeological procedures. When presenting archaeology to the public, consideration needs to be paid to the different targets groups of society. The importance of national directions rather than regional translations for mediation of archaeology is stressed by the author. This needs to be carried out through a change of the questions posed to the contracted archaeologists by the county administration in their ?fo?rfra?gningsunderlag,? the order specification for archaeological investigations. .

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the Representation of race, social class and gender in the 2013 video game Grand Theft Auto V. Postcolonial theory, including terms such as cultural hegemony, whiteness and Michel Foucaults definition of power, has served as the basis for the analysis. The aim is divided into three research questions, what does culture in English teaching mean, how is the English-speaking world presented in the textbooks and is the image that is presented stereotyped or does it try to challenge it? Denna studie undersöker hur jämställdheten ser ut under SVTs prime-time-sändningar utifrån könsfördelning, ålder och form av deltagande hos de medverkande personerna framför kameran, samt hur fördelningen ser ut i förhållande till de programkategorier SVT har satt. Med prime-time-sändningar menas den tid på dagen då tv-publiken är som allra störst. Syftet med uppsatsen är att med en kvantitativ innehållsanalys få reda på hur könsRepresentationen ser ut utifrån nämnda faktorer och diskutera sambandet mellan resultaten och värden kopplade till de sociala könsrollerna samt huruvida prime-time har en påverkan på innehållet i programmen.De teoretiska ramarna utgörs främst av Yvonne Hirdmans tankar kring genussystemet som dels innefattar två logiker; mannen som norm samt isärhållandets logik och dels genuskontraktet som beskriver överenskommelsen om sociala beteenden och logikernas fortsatta spridning från en generation till nästa. Detta tillsammans med Halls teorier om Representation och stereotyper samt medielogiken appliceras i diskussionen kring analysens resultat.Resultaten visar att alla program utom ett representeras av en majoritet män, i de flesta fall stark majoritet. Män har också en starkare Representation inom alla åldersgrupper till skillnad från kvinnor där både de yngre och äldre generationerna är väldigt svagt representerade.
