The purpose of zoos has changed over the decades. From being menageries where wealthy people showed their collections of exotic animals to today?s zoos where science, conservation and education has become a central part of their work. Education in zoos gives them the opportunity to spread the knowledge about ecology, biology and biodiversity to the general public. Their aim is to change the public?s attitudes towards our wildlife and raise awareness about the threats that exists against our planets biodiversity.

Detta är ett examensarbete utfört inom ämnesområdena informationsteknik och interaktiva medier, inom utbildningen Medie- och kommunikationsteknik vid Linköpings universitet ? Campus Norrköping. Arbetet handlar om hur man skapar en gemensam webbplats för en kommunal organisations olika enheter. I arbetet tas problemet upp med att hitta ett sätt att representera olika delar av en verksamhet på Internet så att denna återspeglas på korrekt sätt i förhållande till vad som är den faktiska kärnverksamheten, och hur man gör för att införliva information och funktioner från äldre webbplatser med sinsemellan olika publiceringssystem så att information och funktion interagerar, snarare än står i konflikt med varandra. I arbetet behandlas inte bara de tekniska svårigheter som kan uppstå, utan även de rent gruppdynamiska problem som komma upp till ytan vid en sammanslagning av flera tidigare autonoma enheter.

Children of school age, who have just moved to Sweden can either start in a preparation class or in a normal class. There is no Swedish law or national policy that determines how new children will start and continue their education in Swedish schools. The decision is up to the schools or the communes.This study investigates what kind of educational methods teachers, from a sample of two different schools, are using to educate the newly-arrived students and if these methods are making any contribution to integrating these children into the Swedish school system. The study will raise questions like, how are the new students introduced to the Swedish school, what is the purpose of having the children in preparation class as opposed to normal class, and what methods do the interviewed teachers use to integrate the new children into the school system?Interviews were conducted with four teachers, an associate professor and a senior lecturer in education, who has done several years of research about children from abroad coming in to the Swedish school system.

A growing population together with a change in food habits to a more diverse diet containing more animal products such as meat and milk makes the possibility to produce and sell products of cattle a growing market. And at the same time there is an ongoing debate about global warming, where raising cattle is questioned due to their high production of enteric methane. To be able to raise animals in a more environmental friendly way and at the same time improve productivity in a developing country such as Vietnam would be favorable. The use of feed additives with high electron affinity could decrease the methane production and at the same time improve the gross energy digested. Nitrate and Sulfur are both good electron acceptors, but due to its toxic effects the use of nitrate in feed has been neglected.

Syftet med mitt arbete var att undersöka hur textillärare ser på och arbetar med elevens planering i grundskolan. Jag valde ämnet för att kursplanen för slöjd betonar planering upprepade gånger. Jag ville förstå vad planering innebär samt undersöka hur man rent praktiskt kan arbeta med det som lärare. Jag har genomfört kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra textillärare i Västerbotten och har bedrivit omfattande litteraturstudier som jag ställer mot intervjuresultaten. Jag frågar vad lärarna anser att elevens planering innebär, hur de arbetar med den samt hur de bedömer och betygsätter den.

A questionnaire has been sent out to sawmills in the region Dalarna with the purpose of finding out if sawmills receive moose-damaged timber and what they think about how they foresee future development. There were two causes of the moose explosion, that had effects on the moose population. The first cause was that the moose hunters wanted to raise the moose population, and by raising the calf shooting and by saving the cows they succeeded. The second cause was changing methods in Swedish forestry.

Abstract Arbetet utgör en undersökning om gymnasielevers attityder kring skolmatematik. Eleverna i undersökningen går i gymnasiets årskurs två och tre på Teknik- eller Naturprogrammet. Eleverna, som alla medverkade frivilligt, tillfrågades i intervjuer om hur de såg på matematik, nyttan av den och vad som gör det intressant/roligt att studera ämnet matematik samt vad de ansåg kunskaper i matematik kunde användas till rent allmänt. Utfallet var sammanfattningsvis en positiv i syn på ämnet och att det var förståelsen av matematiken som gör den rolig och att den upplevda nyttan med ämnet framförallt att det hjälper förståelsen av t.ex. Fysik och Kemi.

In Sweden, we are seeing the small horse farms become more and morepopular, which is keeping the countryside open and alive.I feel it is very important to improve the knowledge among farmers and others who willwork in close proximity to horses. This will enable us to raise the standard of care ofhorses today and reduce the number of people who market themselves as professionalhorse specialists, even though they have no education or experience in the fieldIn this essay you will find information about the most common horse breeds in Sweden,including basic anatomy of the horse, feeding directions, hoof and dental care, commondiseases and their treatment. There is information relative to the safe transportation of ahorse as well as the rules pertaining to horses in traffic.

I FN:s konvention om barnets rättigheter samt i svensk lagstiftning framhålls tydligt att ?barnets bästa? ska beaktas i ärenden som rör barn. Det finns sedan inga konkreta styrdokument som beskriver vad ?barnets bästa? innebär rent praktiskt t ex vid insatsen kontaktperson vid umgängestvist. Vårt syfte blev därför att i teori och i praktik undersöka vad ?barnets bästa? innebar vid insatsen kontaktperson vid umgängestvist, samt var gränsen gick då det inte längre var till ?barnets bästa?. Under arbetet framkom att ?barnets bästa? definieras väldigt generellt i lagstiftningen, t ex som trygghet, god omvårdnad och god omsorg för barnet.

Previous research and patient complaints to the Swedish Patient Support Committee shows that there is a lack of substance in the patient-nurse relationship. This may suggest that it can be difficult for health care to live up to health-care law which requires it to be of good quality, based on dignity and respect and designed so that the patient is an active participant and can make their own decisions when it comes to their health care. For a better understanding of what a dignified patient-nurse relationship is, this study aims to clarify what the patient values as good patient-nurse relationship and describe how they have experienced the patient-nurse relationship during their stay at an emergency care department. The study is a descriptive cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, where the population consisted of patients who were cared for at an emergency care department in the County of Västmanland, Sweden during 2007. The sample consisted of 93 patients which were asked to answer a questionnaire.

Putsfasader är egentligen ett ganska stort och brett område som många inte är medvetna om. Många ser puts dagligen och bor i hus med putsfasad utan att reflektera över om det är bra eller dåligt. Att det finns flera olika metoder är oftast svårt att veta för den som inte är insatt. Någon gång har just du som läsare kanske funderat över att det är olika putsningar på olika hus.I den här rapporten behandlas begreppet putsfasad och tre metoder som används inom området. I rapporten finns begreppsförklaringar och kapitel som talar om vad puts egentligen är.

The aim with this master thesis is to analyze a scientific material concerning the context between learning and child/student development, and factors which controls process of learning, to create an image with quality account and teaching in mathematics, which then can raise the mathematical knowledge among students.The phenomena which stand in focus for the investigation is: why there is a negative tendency for development of knowledge in mathematics, among the Swedish students that TIMSSs investigations showed in intercultural comparison within the years 1993, 1999, 2003 and 2007.The method is the ethnographical method, which is based on: analyzing scientific theories about learning child/student development, factors which controls process of learning, and factors which controls process of learning the most and qualitative empiric investigation with qualitatively analyzes the questionnaires, which is about factors which are controlling the process of learning and factors which are controlling the process of learning the most.Result of the theoretical and empiric analyzes shows that factors as school environment, attitude for subjects and teaching, controls and influence the learning. To end a unenthusiastic tendency as a negative development of mathematical knowledge among students that is shown in TIMSS investigation and to elevate the students' performance in mathematics, an elevated qualitative account and teaching in mathematics, by the factors named. Safe school environments as the intercultural meeting place, the teachers influence part to the students' subjects' attitude in mathematics and goal related grading criteria in teaching, is all required for e qualitative teaching in mathematics..

This essay is a contribution to the process of reconstructing the meaning of a concept that has been long forsaken and somewhat forgotten. It examines the way in which the Swedish nobility perceived the politically active peasantry during the 1740s as an expression of the prevailing political culture of the period. The aim of this study is thus to understand a bygone world of thought that once existed in a very turbulent political culture. I focus on the words formed and articulated in the halls and rooms of the Swedish estates by which the thoughts, opinions and power of the Swedish government came to the fore. In doing so it is possible to say something about how the nobility, in their relationship with the peasantry, constructed an object which represented their perception of the Swedish peasant and what this meant.

The theoretical perspectives have been the theory of street-Level Bureaucracy, social constructivism and Stages of change. The material has been collected through qualitative semi-structured interviews and email-interviews with the social workers. The aim of this study was to examine if the social workers uses their theoretical experiences about their attitudes in their practical work and if their response can raise or reduce the young offenders motivation to change their behaviour. To collect information it was chosen that this study would only concentrate on the social workers opinions.
