In an effort to strengthen democracy in the union, the EU in 2005 took a new approach to communications policy to reach out to the citizens. The strategic document "Plan D for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate" was accompanied by two other documents, and the three of them were the core of this policy. Both democracy and communications work means at EU level a higher complexity than in the nation-state arena. Objective of this study is to examine how the implementation of Plan D has turned out in a democracy Renewal perspective. To achieve that answers are sought to questions concerning the goals of Plan D, how they are still present today, what happened in practice regarding the efforts that are highlighted, and how the substance of the activities can be judged from a democratic theory perspective.

In this two years masters thesis in Library and Information Studies, the Russian Library-Bibliographical Classification (LBC/BBK) and the Chinese Library Classification (CLC) are analyzed with regard to their historical and ideological backgrounds and their respective evolutions. The structure of these classifications is compared with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), as well as three chosen subjects (History, Politics and Religion). A qualitative comparative textual method is used.The study shows that these classification schemes, created at different times, different parts of the world, and different political systems, have different biases but give priority to the European before other foreign views. Otherwise, they often use a proximity principle. The CLC and the LBC were originally based on Marxist materialist principles but built in totally different ways.

This final project discusses Renewal and upgrading of the area of Prim. It is discussed how this industrial area can be an attractive neighborhood with a varied range of services and commercial trade. Prim is located 2km north-east of the center of Barcelona. The area boarders to a deep railway valley that historically has separated Prim from its neighboring districts. At present there is almost no housing, services or commercial trade within the area and the industry is discontinued or the existing industrial buildings are derelict.

Aim: The nuclear accident in Fukushima, Japan, raised global criticism against nuclear power. In Sweden, the criticism has not been very visible and the government now allows a Renewal of the nuclear power plants. The purpose with the study is to have a closer look on how Swedes in position of power motivate their positive attitude to nuclear power and how they conduct themselves to each other and to their opponents. The rhetorical perspective will be in focus for the analysing.Method: Four different artifacts represented by Swedes in position of power having a positiveattitude to nuclear power were chosen. Three rhetorical theories (the rhetorical arena, stasis andethos, pathos and logos) were used with the research question in focus.Result & Conclusions: The analyses resulted in conclusions about the strategies used by the participants such as: the importance of contexts, meaning for example that the greenhouse effect legitimizes nuclear power as a source of energy with important benefits.

In 2005 Gunhild Eriksdotter published Behind The Facades in which she analyses the ways of approaching historical buildings in archaeology. Eriksdotter emphasizes that the archaeology of buildings is in dire need of Renewal videlicet the traditional outlook on buildings as two-dimensional objects need to change. She develops a method of analysing the spatial dimensions in a three-dimensional world. By fusing theories and methods in excavating archaeology and architecture, she is able to give us a new way of approaching buildings. Her method includes the analysing of a buildings material, spatiality and use.

Syfte: Vi vill ta reda på vad som gör ett varumärke i modebranschenstarkt, samt hur ett företag bör agera för att åstadkomma det.Metod: Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ ansats och har genom sjupersonliga intervjuer samlat in vårt empiriska material. Genom enabduktiv metod har vi undersökt om empiri och teoriöverensstämmer. Vi har sedan utgått från vår frågeställning ochfört en diskussion.Slutsatser: För att skapa ett starkt varumärke inom modebranschen är detviktigt att vara konsekvent i sitt uttryck. Produkten ochvarumärkesidentiteten måste samspela, även då produkten förnyas,och identiteten måste vara tydlig för konsumenten att minnas.Företagen kan påverka konsumenten genom kommunikation, ochPR har en betydande roll för hur varumärket presenteras i media.Den grafiska identiteten blir varumärkets kostym utåt och ensymbol för densamma. För att skapa ett starkt modevarumärke börvarumärket och produkten vara i linje med varandra och konstantförändras tillsammans.Purpose: We want to find out what makes a fashionbrand strong and how abusiness should act to achive that.Method: We have used a qualitative approach and have collected ourempiric data through seven personal interviews.

In 1896, a French cinema pioneer named George Méliès demonstrated that an object could be set to motion by changing the objects shape or movement frame by frame. But it was not until the early 1900s that this specific genre of filmmaking became a great success. The animations were essentially short and were animated and published in The United States of America. The interest in animated movies began to increase, not only in the west, but also in Europe and Asia. The art of animation grew especially popular in Japan, and emerged as a parallel to Japanese comic books known more commonly as Manga.The history of Japanese animation is not as commonly known as the history of American animation.

Abstract In order to work with historical sites, there must be an understanding of the complexity around the preservation of parks, gardens and landscapes and the approach to be used in the rebuilding and Renewal. These issues are an important starting point of this essay. Historical environments give us as individuals an insight in who we are and from where we come, which is an important part of our need of identity as human beings. Without them, our roots in the past will be non-existent. The importance of this support base lies not only in the garden conservation, but also in the picture of developments, which we have through of as time mirrors of our living environment.

For an outdoor environment to function optimally as a playarea requires that it is flexible, that is, contains places and elements that give room for the imagination and for own interpetretations, and also that the children in some way can influence and change their surroundings. It is also important to have variety, both in the sense that the playground has a unique character that distinguishes it from other places, and that it allows many different games and activities. There should for example be room for both wild games of running and moving around where many children can participate, and calm corners to withdraw to for rest or quiet play. A good playground should surprise, challenge and encourage children to discover their surroundings. One way to achive this is to use plants and materials from nature, whose irregular forms and structures can become interesting elements to explore. Vegetation also gives sence-experiences of various kinds, materials like twigs and leafs to play with and a place to play house.

My aim of this investigation has been to study Delacroix relation to the Orient, based on a number of key questions:What was specific for Delacroix oriental works?How did his oriental painting change and mature over time?How was Delacroix relation to the oriental discourse?The paper is divided into three parts: the time before his trip to Morocco in 1832, the trip to Morocco and the period after Morocco.Although many have wanted to see Delacroix as a revolutionary, he worked the whole time within, and dialogue with, the classical tradition. In Delacroix quest for Renewal of history painting, the oriental works play an important role. In the period before his trip to Morocco the literary sources dominated. He constructed his own Orient in his studio.It is clear that Delacroix did not stood outside the oriental discourse.

1900-talets sista fyra decennier innebar stora förändringar för kyrkorna i såväl globalt som lokalt perspektiv. Två rörelser inom kristenheten spelade stor roll för utvecklingen: den ekumeniska rörelsen och den karismatiska rörelsen. Mötet mellan de etablerade kyrkorna och framför allt den karismatiska förnyelserörelsen var inte enkelt. Tonläget mellan dem var tidvis högt. Under 1980- och 90-talen skadades relationer mellan både människor och organisationer vid sådana möten.

Några stadier i utvecklingen för waterfrontområden kan identifieras; strategiskuppväxt, industrialisering, avindustrialisering och förnyelse. Ofta är förändringar iekonomiska förhållanden och ny teknologisk utveckling de primära krafterna somgett upphov till nya rumsliga och funktionella relationer mellan hamnen och staden.I en utveckling som har tilltagit sedan andra världskriget flyttar industri,transportanläggningar och hamnar bort från centrala stadslägen. Denna flytt är oftaden utlösande faktorn för waterfrontförnyelse; övergiven industrimark nära stadenskärna frigörs och kan då omvandlas till andra ändamål. I processen för att förändrawaterfrontområden måste flera olika flöden samverka, däribland ekonomiska,politiska, kulturella och ekologiska processer. Ett avdelande vattenparti i en stadkan fungera som en styrka som skapar tillväxt men också som en barriär som skaparavstånd och hindrar uppbyggnaden av en sammanhållen stad.Syftet med denna uppsats är att översiktligt undersöka relationerna mellanwaterfrontområden och dess stad och mer specifikt att undersöka hur detta ser ut itvå waterfrontprojekt i två städer i Europa; Norra Älvstranden i Göteborg ochHafenCity i Hamburg.

Det här examensarbetet består i ett produktutvecklingsprojekt som utfördes i samarbete medLiquid Biopsy AB. Syftet med arbetet var att utveckla ett engångskassettsbaserat produktsystem baserat på företagets patentsökta metod för isolering av cancer celler i suspension, inklusive cirkulerande tumörceller. Liquid Biopsy AB är ett svenskt utvecklingsbolag som baserat på ny och unik teknik, är oberoende av proteinmarkörer, använder cirkulerande tumörceller och andra suspenderade tumörceller för att möjliggöra bättre och billigare cancerdiagnostik.Examensarbetet har fokuserat på utvecklingen av engångskassetten, men parallellt arbete har även utförts med tillhörande basenhet. Ulrich och Eppingers produktutvecklingsprocess har utgjort grunden för den process som följts i arbetet, dock med ökat fokus på testning och utvärdering. För att få en bredare kunskapsbas inleddes arbetet med en marknads- och omvärldsanalys samt informationsinsamling om utmaningar och medicintekniska krav.
