Neurointensivvårdspatientens förutsättningar för ett optimalt neurologiskt wake-up test : en observationsstudie
Background: Examinations with the intent to assess neurological functions and level of conciousness are common in neurocritical care, but the effect on the patient is not entirely researched.Aim: The purpose of this study was to describe the patient?s situation at the neurological wake-up test concerning the environment, nursing interventions and the possibility given the patient to become awake, and if these conditions affect the outcome of the wake-up test.Methods: A quantitative observational study took place at a neurocritical care unit, where 20 patients were observed from interruption of sedation to the neurological assessment, which was performed by a neurosurgeon or a specialized critical care Registered nurse. Nursing interventions, environmental factors and physiological parameters were documented.Result: Twelve intervention varieties to control patients? physiological parameters were used. CPP > 80 mmHg was found in 90 % of observations.
Hälsorelaterad psykosocial situation bland kvinnor från olika kulturer efter bröstcancer
The most common form of female cancer in Sweden is breast cancer and the primary choice of treatment is surgery. Removing a woman's breasts is not just removing a body part but is also strongly linked to the emotional life. This has psychosocial consequences and the reactions will be different depending on how people perceive health and illness. Factors that matter are both personal experiences and cultural factors such as religion, family, and the own standards and values. It is important that a nurse is aware of cultural factors that may influence the perception of care.
Att möta döden En litteraturstudie som belyser sjuksköterskors upplevda problem, dess följder samt underlättande faktorer i omvårdnaden av döende patienter
Death can be seen as a sensitive subject and can by that be difficult for many people to talk about. Working as a nurse can imply caring for severe ill and dying patients, which can be regarded as a task that makes great demands. The aim of the present literature review is to illustrate nurses' experiences of problems in association with the care of dying patients to be aware of these. Nine scientific articles were analysed and the result showed that the problems the nurses experienced could be related to four different categories: problems related to organisa-tion/resources, to the nurse herself, to the patient and to family members. The literature review also illustrates consequences of these problems for nurses, and which components that could simplify the nursing care of dying patients..
Omvårdnad kring patienter med en psykiatrisk diagnos : En empirisk studie om sjuksköterskors uppfattning på en somatisk avdelning
Bakgrund: Stigmatisering kring människor som har psykiatriska diagnoser är vitt spridd. Det finns forskning som visar att detta också förekommer inom vården och att detta kan påverka den vård patienter med psykiatriska diagnoser får. Dessutom blir olika psykiatriska diagnoser allt mer vanligt förekommande i samhället, därför kommer även patienter med dessa diagnoser bli vanligare. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa hur sjuksköterskor inom den somatiska vården uppfattar bemötandet och omvårdnaden av patienter med en psykiatrisk diagnos. Metod: Studien var en empirisk studie genomförd med en deskriptiv kvalitativ ansats.
Personalens följsamhet till riktlinjer avseende glukoskontroll postoperativt efter Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
The aim of the study was auditing medical records examine postoperative blood glucose levels after undergoing CABG surgery. Furthermore the aim was to determine if the ward staff abides the local guidelines frame of reference concerning each ward, regarding blood glucose measurements and blood glucose levels. The study included 70 patients undergoing CABG surgery at the cardiothoracic surgery, Uppsala University Hospital. The study was conducted by retrospective medical record auditing. Studied factors were postoperative blood glucose levels, number of registered blood glucose measurements, a current diagnosis of DM and preoperative HbA1c.
Gammal och förvirrad : Sjuksköterskans omvårdnadsåtgärder vid konfusion hos äldre
Konfusion är mycket vanligt förekommande hos äldre och skapar stort lidande, ger höga samhällskostnader och orsakar hög mortalitet. Syftet med studien var att belysa sjuksköterskans icke farmakologiska omvårdnadsåtgärder vid konfusion hos äldre patienter. Metoden var en litteraturstudie, vilken innefattade tio artiklar där relevanta omvårdnadsåtgärder framkom, dessa presenterades i resultatet under VIPS - modellens åtgärdssökord. Resultatet av studien visade att patienter med konfusion mindes och uppmärksammade vad som skedde med och runt omkring dem. Viktigt var att få information om sitt konfusionstillstånd för att förstå vad som hände och varför.

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting women. The treatment of breast cancer may lead to forcing the woman to remove her breast. The breast is a symbol of femininity and sexuality for many women. The purpose of this literature-based study is to describe women's experiences of altered body image and sexuality after mastectomy. This may provide a better understanding of the nurse in responding to these breast cancer patients.

Anorexia nervosa is a severe and multifaceted eating disorder generally found in the female population. Throughout anorectic starvation relationship related conflicts revolving round power and autonomy are bound to happen. For that reason the most crucial part of treatment should be to build a trusting relationship.The aim of this study was to describe relationship promoting strategies a nurse can use during care of anorexia nervosa patients. This literature study derives from a qualitative analysis of scientific articles. The findings indicate on five different strategies a nurse can use during care of anorexia nervosa patients.
Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att möta patienter med prediabetes : -En kvalitativ intervjustudie
Background: Prediabetes is caused by relative insulin deficiency and insulin resistance in the body tissue which leads to abnormal blood glucose levels. Prediabetes can over time lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus. To prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes and its complications, it is important to identify early elevated blood glucose levels and thereby prediabetes.Objective: To describe nurses' knowledge and experience regarding the management of patients with prediabetes.Methods: Qualitative descriptive design with individual interviews. Three nurses, three community health nurses and three diabetes nurses were interviewed.Results: The result can be understood from the nurses' experiences of encountering patients with prediabetes. An overarching theme in the analysis was that the nurses are working or aspiring to work preventively.

There are over 1,5 billion Muslims living on earth and the religion is one of the world´s most increasing. Sweden is a country with a cultural diversity where about 300 000 Muslims lived in 1999. Today, the requirement for knowledge about caring for Muslims and the need of culturally competent nursing care are increasing.The aim of this study was to define cultural factors which the nurse has to recognize to be able to give culturally competent care to the Muslim patient. The method that has been used was a The Sunrise Model, which illustrates Leininger´s theory of culture care diversity and universality, provides a theoretical framework for the study. The results are presented on the basis of Leininger´s three cultural factors; cultural values, beliefs and lifeways.

AbstractThe aim with the study was to describe and to compare nurse students' views about importantcaring behaviors in order to give good caring. An empirical comparative study wasimplemented on a college in the middle of Sweden. Nurse students in the beginning and at theend of their education sorted and prioritized 50 caring behaviors (CARE-Q). The result showedthat the students' description of important caring behaviors has many similarities. However, theresult also showed that there were significant differences between the student-groups where thestudents at the beginning of their education rated several caring behavior as significant moreimportant than the students in the end of their education.
Mödrars upplevelser vid förlossningsdepression och av stödet från sjuksköterskan - En litteraturstudie
Bakgrund: Att bli förälder är en omvälvande och stor förändring i livet och det är vanligt att bli nedstämd den första tiden som förälder. Oftast går det över ganska snabbt efter förloss-ningen men 10-20 procent av alla nyblivna mödrar mår fortsatt dåligt en längre tid och drab-bas av en förlossningsdepression. På grund av känslor som skam och skuld undviker många mödrar att söka vård och därför blir förlossningsdepression ofta oupptäckt och odiagnostise-rat.Syfte: Att beskriva mödrars upplevelser vid förlossningsdepression samt att beskriva upple-velsen av stödet från sjuksköterskan. Syftet var vidare att beskriva de inkluderade artiklarnas urvalsmetod och undersökningsgrupp.Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie baserad på 15 vetenskapliga artiklar med kvalitativ ansats. Databaserna PsycINFO och Cinahl användes till litteratursökningen.Huvudresultat: Vanliga upplevelser hos mödrar med förlossningsdepression var rädsla, skuld och ökad sårbarhet för att hantera förändringar.
