The purpose of this paper is to view Karlstad Municipality and their financial support to non-profit organizations within equestrian sports. Despite the varying representatives of various equestrian sports in Karlstad, there seems to be a single beneficiary within the sport when it comes to financial support from the municipality. The policies and plans concerning cultural development are directly compared to the Karlstad Municipality and its contribution to these organizations within equestrian sports. Through interviews and reports I have studied the process of financial support from the Karlstad municipality using an intersectionality theory based on Nina Lykkes guide on gender studies and feminist theory. Pierre Bourdieu?s theories on field, habitus and capital are also used as a method to enhance the understanding of equestrian sports and its role in modern Swedish society. The conclusion is that the Karlstad Municipality is, for a several of reasons, promoting non-profit organizations within equestrian sports, which are operating as riding schools.

Denna kandidatuppsats på 15 hp är skriven inom ämnet landsbygdsutveckling. Uppsatsen bygger på tre intervjuer och observationer med ägare till små livsmedelsbutiker i Uppsala. Butikerna säljer bland annat lokalproducerad mat, regional mat, mat från andra länder, kläder och annat smått och gott. Dessa små butiker har nischat in sig på olika områden och jag har undersökt hur det är att driva en sådan liten livsmedelsbutik i Uppsala. I analysen har jag försökt förstå varför vissa väljer att gå och handla i mindre butiker och vilka det är som gör det.

Denna uppsats fokuserar på människans subjektiva verklighetsuppfattning kring skogsmiljöer, utifrån ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv. Från olika aktörers livsvärldar har relationen till begrepp som natur, kultur, kulturmiljöer och kulturmiljövård studerats, liksom hur aktörernas förhållande till detta i sin tur påverkar vad som anses vara bevarandevärt. För att genomföra detta har intervjuer utförts med aktörer i anknytning med projektet Skog och Historia eller skogsbruk på såväl central, regional som lokal nivå. Utifrån detta har aktörernas begreppstolkningar interpreterats till att kulturen är den tolkning som var och en av aktörerna gör. Det övergripande syftet med detta arbete har varit att studera hur kommuner förhåller sig till bestämmelserna som finns i Miljöbalkens 3 kap § 4 om ianpråktagande av jordbruksmark. Syftet har vidare varit att undersöka vilka motsättningar som finns mellan miljö- och planeringsparadigmen inom den fysiska planeringen genom att studera hur kommuner resonerar om frågan om byggande eller bevarande av jordbruksmark. För att undersöka detta studeras de fall som har den bästa jordbruksmarken sett till dess produktionsförmåga samt har en stor befolkningsökning och liten yta att växa på. Som tillvägagångssätt för att studera detta tillämpas en flerfallstudie som undersökningsstrategi. I studien genomförs en innehållsanalys av åtta kommuners översiktsplaner. Uppsatsen visar på att det finns en förskjutning från miljöparadigmet till planeringsparadigmet i sättet som kommunerna för sina resonemang om bestämmelserna om byggande på jordbruksmark. I samtliga översiktsplaners övergripande mål eller strategier nämns jordbruksmarken som en viktig resurs som ska värnas. Large volumes of excavated soil and rock are generated in building- and construction projects. These materials need to be transported longer and longer distances due to the densifications of cities. The transportation affects the environment in terms of noise and emissions, but also makes high demands on road infrastructure. To reduce the transport distances an increased responsibility for the excavated rock generated needs to be taken. Responsibility can be increased through an introduction of means of control.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how officials within the Swedish public libraryorganisation view the IT-development, how the IT-development progresses within theorganisation and if there is a need for a national IT-strategy for the public libraries in Sweden.Four unorganized interviews with officials within the regional- and county libraryorganisation and one within the national organisation where conducted. This master?s thesis attends to a debate in the Swedish daily press concerning the public library which arose after the Swedish Moderate Party?s publication of their cultural political document Kulturen 2.0. This document contains a number of standpoints, of which three directly concern the public library: charges on book loans, libraries on contract and politically balanced purchase policy. In all, 28 articles are examined by means of an idea and ideological analysis. The purpose is to find out what is behind the conflicts surrounding attitudes about the public library's mission and activity in an era of needs for change.

The aim of this research is to examine the Göteborg International Film Festival Fund (GIFFF, 1998?2011) as a part of the festival's overall operations, to provide answers to questions about if/how the Fund can be understood as an expression of the festival's fundamental values, and how the Fund can be recognized within the festival's strategic development. The GIFFF is also discussed in relation to contemporary academic studies that interpret Western film funds for the developing countries ? such as Hubert Bals Fund and Fond Sud Cinéma ? as an expression of Eurocentrism.The investigation is based on the contemporary film festival research, previous academic studies on Göteborg International Film Festival, the festival?s printed material ? such as programs and press releases ? as well as interviews with the former festival director Gunnar Bergdahl, who initiated the Fund, and festival editor Ulf Sigvardson, who ran the Fund during its final years of existence.The conclusions are: The Fund's objectives ? such as to support filmmakers and film schools in the developing countries, and also to screen their films at the festival ? can be seen as a broader interpretation of the vision that was determined by the festival founders, that the festival should be a platform for independent filmmaking and also help screen the films that otherwise would not reach the Swedish audience. This Masters Thesis is about the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs and the arms length principle. The principle is used to explain the separation of power between two parts with a common interest. The main purpose is to elucidate if, and if so in what way, the arms length principle can be used to explain the relation between the National Council for Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Culture, i.e. the Swedish government, but also to examine the structures of power and relations within the Council. In the thesis we show that in the field of cultural policy the content of the arm lengths principle varies due to the many interpretations of the meaning.
