The purpose of this essay is to examine how peace journalism was expressed in Swedish newspapers´ reporting on the war in Georgia 2008. We did this by analyzing whether the reporting was elite- or people-orientated depending on how suffering was expressed and how the war players were described.The method we used was Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). It was applied on news articles from four Swedish newspapers that covered three different happenings in the war in Georgia.We found out that the reporting was mainly elite-orientated, both when it comes to how suffering was expressed, as well as how the war players were described. The newspapers tended to focus on only one party?s suffering and one party as evil-doer, which is elite-orientated reporting and also an indication of war journalism rather than peace journalism..

2008 presenterades utredningen SOU 2008:52, ?Legitimation och skärpta behörighetsregler?. Avsikten var att komma tillrätta med problemet att så många lärare var obehöriga, vilket ansågs försämra kvalitén i skolan. Uppsatsens material består i utredningen samt sex relaterade remissvar.Syftet med uppsatsen var att söka svar på vilka argument utredningen använde, på vilket sätt de presenterades samt hur de bemöttes i remissvaren.För att uppnå detta användes verktyg för retorisk analys och, i remissvaren, ett språkligt perspektiv med fokus på värdeladdade ord.Resultatet var att utredningen till största del använde sig av hänvisningar till bl.a. andra utredningar, forskare och andra auktorisationssystem.Det visade sig även att remissinstanserna s.a.s.

Over the last couple of years, growers, researchers, advisors and plant protection companies have noticed increasing problems with tortricids in Swedish apple orchards. Since the insecticide Gusathion (azinphosmethyl) has been banned (end of 2008; KemI 2008), a further increase of tortricid populations can be expected. In order to get a picture of species composition and population densities among the tortricids, an inventory of seven species, Adoxophyes orana, Archips podana, Archips rosana, Cydia pomonella, Hedya nubiferana, Pandemis heparana and Spilonota ocellana was made in 11 orchards in southern Sweden (Skåne) in 2008. New guidelines and laws were set to try and improve the quality of the auditing business while trying to restore stained reputation. When Sweden acceded to the European Union in 1995 the term social economy was introduced to the Swedish context, gradually replacing the term civil society. This replacement can be seen as an indicator of a changing meaning of what the concept of civil society used to stand for.The aim of this essay is to study if it is possible to identify changing perceptions of the role of civil society for democracy in Sweden in government bills between 2002 and 2008, and, if so, what effect does this have on the delineation between the civil society and the government.An analytical model is proposed consisting of two dimensions which both capture the roles of civil society for democracy and the model examines how those roles relate to the government.The conclusion is that the government still sees the main function of civil society as a democratic school and a change agent for democracy. However, there is strong evidence to suggest that the civil society is increasingly regarded as more of a welfare producer than a fosterer of democracy..

Uppsatsen undersöker om fonders prestation beror på dess förmögenhet. Syftet är att se om små fonder presterar bättre än stora (sett till riskjusterad prestation) och således är att föredra. Undersökningen innehåller 21 stycken svenska fonder med inriktning på nationella placeringar över perioden 2003-2008. Som mått på prestation har den historiska sharpekvoten och Jensens alfa använts. Undersökning har gjorts på paneldata, tidseriedata och tvärsnittsdata över olika tidsperioder och tidsperspektiv.

Arbetets syfte är att belysa konstkritikernas roll i debatten om det svenska samtida konsthantverket och att ge en bild av det recenserade konsthantverket i Sverige under de senaste tio åren. Utifrån syftet besvaras frågeställningen: Hur beskrivs samtida konsthantverk inom konstkritiken i ledande svensk morgonpress under perioden 1997-2008? Frågan besvaras genom en kvalitativ dokumentstudie, där konstkritik i Dagens Nyheter och Svenska Dagbladet tolkas. Några utsnitt har gjorts: juli 1997 och januari 1998, samt juli 2007 och januari 2008. The development of higher education in Sweden poses new demands on higher education libraries. One way of meeting these demands has been to develop Learning Resource Centres (LRC), a concept that is relatively new in Sweden.The aim of this Master's thesis is to identify how the LRC-concept has been designed and integrated in three Swedish higher education institutions: Stockholms universitet, Lärarhögskolan i Stockholm and Göteborgs universitet. The thesis also aims at investigating what the Learning Resource Centres mean to the seats of learning, and in turn, the views of concerned parties in relation to the integration.The method used for the study is qualitative and based on interviews conducted with Learning Resource Centre staff, academic staff and principles or deans. In addition to this, strategic documents from the examined seats of learning are studied.Even though most Swedish Learning Resource Centres have used British Sheffield Hallam University's Adsetts Centre as their model, our study shows that the Swedish Learning Resource Centres of today have developed in various ways, due to local conditions; therefore, there is no definitive model for Swedish LRCs.In our opinion, one of the most important characteristics of a LRC should be its integration in the academic life of its university. There does not seem to be a "recipe" of how to conduct this integration.

Media has in the last year been dominated by news about the current financial crisis around the world. For the banking system in Sweden the crisis began to show in the beginning of 2008 and there where a lot of speculations about how serious the crisis would be and it?s consequences. In several aspects, the banks' situation in the current crisis, are linked to the banking crisis in the 1990s. Although these crises have had different break-out reasons, there are several parallels between these crises to be drawn.

Today all private corporations are obligated by statutory audit. The government of Sweden appointed an investigation to conclude if the audit should be statutory or not. The investigator presented on the third of April 2008 a report (SOU 2008:32) that suggests abolishment of the statutory audit for approximately 97 % of all private corporations in Sweden. This will result in certain effects on the banks credit rating because of the fact that the banks trust the audited accounts to have been audited by an independent audit.The most important in the banks credit rating are: personal judgement, business concept, business plan and repayment ability. The banks also use the private corporations audited accounts in its credit rating.We conducted a case study by interviewing four bank officials in different banks in Skövde and Tibro.
