Partly due to its consequences on the physical and mental health but also because of women?s constant fear of being violated, Rape is considered to be a public health issue. The theoretical aspects of Rape were first discussed in the 1970?s mainly from the viewpoints of Susan Brownmiller and Michel Foucault. The aim of this literature study is to investigate the different perspectives on whether Rape should be viewed as sex or violence, how the controversy has developed and what the authors claim that the different perspectives result in.

This essay is a selective review of Nordic literature with the aim to explore contemporary conceptions of male-on-female Rape, to increase the understanding of how these can construct ?a real Rape?. To achieve this two questions were formulated: What circumstances can cause an incident not to be defined as Rape? What circumstances can cause an incident to be defined as Rape? Searches in international and Swedish databases led to initial selection of peer-review journal articles and dissertations that were reviewed against set criteria. These criteria were met by 8 studies, that were assigned codes, from which comprehensive categories were developed.

This essay is based on a qualitative study of Swedish high school students? discussions of Rape. We have a socialconstructive perspective and use theories of gender and power. The purpose of the study is to acknowledge teenagers? views of Rape, sexual relationships and the law.

AbstractThis essay concerns young women´s point of view and discussions about Rape and Rape victims. The purpose was to examine young women´s view on Rape and Rape victims. By young women we mean 17 to 18 year-old-high school-students.Our main questions were how young women define Rape, if there are any circumstances were they blame the victim and/or consider her less trustworthy and how they explain Rape.This study is based on one qualitatively oriented group interview, with six young women, and four individual interviews, as compliment to the group interview. We have used our interviews and earlier research to answer our questions. The analysis is based on a feministic point of view and Nils Christies article on "ideal victims".The result that appeared was that the young women´s broad definition of Rape narrows down through the different circumstances concerning the alcohol consumption, the woman´s way of living and what clothes she was wearing, the acquaintance-level between the victim and perpetrator and how the woman says "no" to sex.

The following Bachelor?s thesis examines how three Swedish national newspapers (Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet and Aftonbladet), which all represent different points on the ideological spectrum, portray victim and perpetrator in their representation of Rape during the year 2011. The thesis examines the newspapers news, editorial pages and reports of Rape. The study uses a quantitative approach with qualitative elements which has its foundation in the theory of social constructivism and priming theory. Political science can be studied from the perspective of power, and media has a central role of this power.

Our purpose has been to review and analyse the representation of Rape, as well as discussions concerning rehabilitation, present in texts targeted at professionals and/or female victims of Rape. We wish to investigate whether female victims of Rape themselves are given the opportunity of individual positioning with regard to the crimes they have been exposed to. We consider it to be of relevance that female victims of Rape themselves are given the opportunity to act, react and feel individually in the context in which they find themselves, without judgement or certain expectations on how to act being dealt to them from their surroundings. Our research questions have been as follows; what views of the phenomenon that is Rape are presented in the texts? Do the texts apply any specific theoretical analysis aimed at the possible explanations of the phenomenon that is Rape? In what ways do the texts present the significance of Rape for the female Rape victim? How are the victims feelings of disgrace, guilt and disgust with regard to Rape explained, are these reactions linked to the understanding of female sexuality? How are methods of the rehabilitation of female Rape victims presented in the texts? Do the texts render possible any other/varying subject positions as a female Rape victim? To answer these research questions we have applied a critical discourse analysis on our selection of texts and thereafter made a connection to relevant theory.

This study's interest area loops around how it is possible to understand texts' leverage over human thinking and acting. Focus lies on understanding which forces that form people?s views around men and women's relationships and relations in the public room. From this perspective our interest is to explore how the phenomenon Rape is expressed in texts and how we can understand how Rape through these texts are to be shaped in individuals' thoughts awareness and. Finally, it is also relevant to create understanding for how Rape as a discoursive practice can have effects on individuals and society.

During the past 10 years Sweden has updated its penal code for sexual crimes twice. Despite this few are convicted for the crime of Rape in Sweden. As the majority of perpetrators being male, this is a problem concerning women?s rights to respect for their bodies and personal integrity. A possible explanation, and this study?s point of departure is a potential discrepancy between the intention of the law and the interpretation of the same as the Swedish legal system rests on a foundation of legal positivism.

The purpose of this study was to highlight how women who have been victims of Rape are described in discussion forums on the Internet and how the view obtained is affected by victim and gender constructions. By observing several discussion threads on Swedish internet forums, we have been able to explore how discussions and attitudes are made about women who are victims of Rape and which characteristics are assigned females. This study analyzes these attitudes from a gender construction theory and a victim construction theory. Through this analysis, we wanted to gain a deeper understanding of attitudes about female Rape victims and if the attitudes are rooted in victim and gender constructions. This study shows that women are often assigned responsibility to a Rape if she put herself at risk and if she is assigned negative attributes such as promiscuous, as a liar or if she drinks too much alcohol.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the early 1900s approach to women who have been Raped in Karlstad and how you looked at Rape during this period. I have used criminal case files from the Karlstad criminal police to examine. The actual study is set up in that way that I have tried to answer my questions through case studies that have been categorized in three type?s perpetrators and three types of victims. The three types of offenders who I am using are the "the naughty young man," "the violent worker" and "the drunken man".

This study is based on a proposition about the legislation regarding sexual offences prepared by a commission initiated by the Swedish government in 1972 which was presented in 1976. The purpose of this study has been to ascertain the commissions views on Rape based on their representation of the problem, their presuppositions and assumptions regarding it and future consequences in behavior for victims and offenders of the crime. The key results of this study is that the commission regarded the ?problem? of the then current legislation to be non-consistently with the time being. In their opinion the legislation needed to be loosened from its moral strings and be adjusted to the ?new? sexually liberal era.
