The purpose of this thesis is to identify the most important establishment criteria for companies whointend to do a new establishment. There are differences between regions regarding attraction on startup.Some regions have few new businesses while others continuously expanded its activities in variousfields. The biggest focus on the thesis is the Gävle- Borlänge region where MellansvenskaHandelskammaren is active.Mellansvenska Handelskammaren saw a need for the assignment after the magazine ?IntelligentLogistik? ranked the Gävle region at 15:th place and Falun/Borlänge at 20:th place in the list over thetop 25 best logistics locations in Sweden. This made them wonder what could be made to develop intoa better area with more amenities and a better place in the ranking of the magazine.

This project was led on behalf of Bombardier Transportation in Västerås, Sweden, incollaboration with KTH Stockholm and EPFL Lausanne. This project is connected to thedevelopment of a new and simplified tilt system for rail vehicles.Growing competition from other means of transportation has forced railway companiesthroughout the world to search for increased performances.Travelling time is the mostobvious performance indicator that may be improved by introducing high-speed trains.They require very large curve radii and long transitions curves not to impairridecomfort, another performance indicator. Building new tracks adapted to high speedtrains is very costly and can only be justified where the passenger base is large.Trains with the capability to tilt the carbodies inwards the curve is a more cost efficientalternative. The tilt inwards reduces thelateral force felt by the passengers allowing thetrain to pass curves at enhanced speed with maintained ride comfort but increases thefrequency ofmotion sickness.The benefits of tilting trains are improved speed capability in curves and enhancedpassengers comfort, but at higher buying and maintenance cost. As the conventionaltrains increase their speed in curves, the performance advantage of tilting trains isreduced while their prize is still kept significantly higher and constant.

Problemformulering: Järnvägstransporter av gods har på senare år tappat storamarknadsandelar till vägtransporterna. Orsakerna är många, enav dem kan konkretiseras till en betydande envägstrafik vilketär en direkt följd av dålig lastsäkringsutrustning i vagnarna.Målsättning: Målet med projektet är att utveckla ett koncept för ny typ avlastsäkringsutrustning som kan integreras till befintligvagnpark. Utrustningen ska alltid finnas i vagnen och hamöjlighet att lastsäkra flera typer av produktflöden menframförallt palleterat gods.Förutom grundläggande krav på hållfasthet för de krafter somuppkommer vid rangering och transport ska utrustningensamtidigt vara så liten som möjligt både vad gäller vikt ochvolym.Metod: Projektet är i grunden en produktutveckling vilken består av enstegvis utarbetad modell av Ulrich och Eppinger när välproblemet hade identifierats. Dessförinnan krävdes dock ennormativ studie för att klargöra de problem som åligger ochsom behöver lösning. Informationsinsamlingen har framföralltbestått av kvalitativ data av både primär och sekundär karaktär.Slutsatser: Författarna anser att en förändring i dagens konservativabransch är önskvärd för att stärka järnvägens konkurrenskraft.Integrering av författarnas lastsäkringsutrustning skulleinnebära en stärkt marknadsposition för järnvägens roll somgodstransportör.

Målet om ett långsiktigt ekologiskt hållbart Sverige kan inte nås utan en hållbar transportpolitik och infrastruktur. Järnvägen ses generellt som ett mer miljövänligt transportslag och ett ökat nyttjande av denna är därmed viktigt. Det leder dock till ett ökat behov av drift, underhåll och viss nybyggnation, samt till behovet av att se till dess miljöpåverkande faktorer. En miljöanpassad offentlig upphandling, således en hållbar upphandling av dessa entreprenader är ett steg närmare en hållbar utveckling. Syftet med miljökrav vid upphandling är att minska järnvägssektorns negativa miljö- och klimatpåverkan, och att främja miljöarbetets utveckling.

Utvecklingen inom järnvägssektorn går mot snabbare och mer effektiva transporter, dock begränsas utvecklingen av att det krävs nya och mer utvecklade spår och tåg för att uppnå det. Med dagens infrastruktur och tågmodeller är hastigheter på 200 km/h det maximala. Behovet att öka kapaciteten och införa höghastighetstrafik i Sverige utreds i nuläget. Med höghastighetstrafik avses hastigheter på minst 250 km/h. Banverket har som förvaltare av järnvägen ett sektorsansvar för miljön och således även buller.

This bachelor thesis in Landscape Architecture is about the planning and design of public spaces in small towns in Sweden. My opinion is that the small towns often are overlooked and my determination is to see if that is right. The purpose with this thesis in Landscape Architecture, with focus on a durable society is to find the central public places in small towns and evaluate their function. This thesis has a focus on good design of central public spaces, designed for the inhabitants of the small towns. A small town, which is the focus of this thesis, is defined to have 200-2000 inhabitants. The small towns, which often are built around industries or the railway, have since the nineteen seventies a problem with people leaving them for the cities in the urbanization. Currently there is also the opposite trend with people moving out from the cities, but to live on the country side, not in the small towns.

Under litteraturstudierna fick författarna en uppfattning om att järnvägsbranschen är präglad av en hel del problematik som visat sig i ett flertal brister. Flera större omorganiseringar hade skapat en bransch med otydliga ansvarsgränser och otydliga roller med en mängd utdragna rättsliga tvister mellan beställare och entreprenörer som följd. Stämningen beskrevs som dyster och kompromisser mellan järnvägsaktörer förekom inte i den mån som behövdes, utan aktörerna tänkte mest på sin egen verksamhet. En ändring behövdes.Rapporten är begränsad till tre nyckelaktörer med koppling till järnvägsunderhåll: beställare, entreprenör och trafikutövare. Fokus har lagts på det alltför förekommande avhjälpande underhållet, som visar sig i form av trafikstörningar och trafikstopp.

This master thesis sets out to compare the different public transport modes in Stockholm city.Both energy consumption and air pollution are compared. The chosen transport methods are car,bus and metro.Traditionally the rail industry has had environmental arguments as a strong competitiveadvantage when it comes to passenger transportation. However, in recent years the automotiveindustry has been getting more positive media attention regarding environmental issues, forexample Roger Kemp?s statement that the car is the most environmental friendly passengertransportation mode in the UK. This study will show the environmental advantages of railwaytraffic in cities.The energy sources of the world are not endless and the use of the different sources affects theenvironment in different ways.

The distance between home and work has increased in recent decades. By the development of infrastructure and public transport, jobs farther from home have become more accessible and this development has in turn increased commuting. Commuting travellers often pass over administrative boundaries which often serve as borders for public transport pricing. Also the market control prices. Research shows that travel times and costs significantly affect commuting choice.

Den här rapporten utgör dokumentationen av ett examensarbete som genomfördes inom Kandidatpåbyggnadslinjen vid Jönköpings tekniska högskola. Inom det jubileumsår som Nässjö stad firar i samband med stadens 100-årsdag var det Nässjö Järnvägsmuseums mål att ta fram en temporär kulturutställning i en tågvagn, vilken ska stå vid Nässjö tågstation under jubileumsårets gång. Genom projektledare hos Nässjö kommun kom museet i kontakt med en designstudent från Jönköpings tekniska högskola, vilken erhöll uppgiften att utveckla den temporära kulturutställningen.Syftet med projektet var att undersöka hur en temporär kulturutställning kan se ut för att locka till sig besökare och intresse från önskade målgrupper. För att konkretisera syftet konkritiserades de till en frågeställning som handlade om hur temporära kulturutställningar och deras grafiska kommunikation kan te sig för att locka till sig önskade målgrupper. Därtill togs fyra konkreta målsättningar fram, vilka specificerade att projektet ska leda till designen av en utställning, tillhörande grafisk kommunikation, skyltning för Nässjö järnvägsmuseum samt ett kompendie där den grafiska kommunikationen visades upp.För att exemplifiera hur en temporär kulturutställning kan te sig och infria målsättningarna inleddes arbetet med undersökningar observationer och intervjuer vid olika kulturutställningar.

A today common soil reinforcement method is the installation of lime-cement columns. Lime-cement columns have been used since the 1970?s and have been a useful method for stabilizing soil at great depths. It is mostly used for stabilizing road and Railway embankments because the method is economically viable and the columns are easy to install. The total costs for the installation of the lime-cement columns is dependent on the numbers of installed columns, what percentage of lime and cement that has been used and the pattern in which the columns has been installed.

The purpose of this master thesis is to attract attention to the undefined spaces of our urban landscape and emphasize the need of these spaces in the city. The different values of these spaces are here clearly presented so that they can be considered when real estate developers show a particular interest in any one of these undefined spaces. The term undefinied spaces can mean a lot of things. The spaces that I now choose to define as undefined spaces are neither planned nor designed. It could for instance be a piece of leftover land in between two residential areas, or as times change, a formerly planned area might be forgotten and left to its own.

The purpose of the thesis is to describe how environmental compensation is carried through when it comes to exploitation of Natura 2000. The thesis also relates to the three theories of planning synoptic, advocacy and transactive. Three cases of environmental compensation have been studied from three different countries where an exploitation of the Natura 2000 is done. Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands have all been working with environmental impact assessments as a demand to be able to carry through their projects. The projects concern the development of a railway track, an industry and a port which all have been approved by the EU-commission to carry on because of socioeconomic reasons.

The public transport network in Täby commune consists currently of two types of bus line of whichboth belong to the category of feeder lines. The first type terminates at Danderyds sjukhus and feedsto the subway whereas the second type terminates at Täby centrum and feeds to Roslagsbanan, asuburban narrow-gauge railway system in northern Stockholm. The trunk bus line that connectsgreater parts of the commune with Danderyd is the ring line 604 and goes both clockwise (604H) andcounterclockwise (604V). The main negative aspect of this structure is the complicity in incorporatingit timetable-wise with other bus lines that share the same route, such as through Enebyberg.The goal of this project is to investigate the possibilities of splitting ring line 604 and connecting theends to two different bus routes that terminate at Täby centrum today. Apart from easing thecoordination with other bus lines through Enebyberg, the extension also creates new directconnections from various areas in Täby to Danderyds sjukhus.
