I föreliggande studie har unga flickors attityder till ätande över tid studeras, samt sambandet mellan föräldrars attityder till mat och ätande och deras döttrars attityder. Detta gjordes genom frågeformulären Children´s Eating Attitudes Test (ChEAT) och Eating Attitudes Test (EAT), från IDA-projektet (Identification of Dieting in Adolescent girls) som delades ut i 40 olika skolor i Uppsala län år 1995 samt 2000. Resultatet visade att det var elva procent av 14åringarna som låg i riskzonen (riskbeteende = 16-72 p) för att utveckla ett stört ätbeteende, medan det inte var någon utav nioåringarna som låg i riskzonen (M 9år = 1,88 M 14 år = 4,35p=.001). Inget signifikant samband mellan varken mammans och flickornas ätbeteende eller pappans och flickornas ätbeteende kunde ses. För att problem med ätstörningar hos ungaflickor ska minska tycker författarna att det är viktigt att föräldrar informeras om hur tidigt deras barn blir medvetna om kroppsideal samt matfrågor.

In this master thesis outage statistics covering tree years from two distribution grids are analyzed with the purpose to deduce which factors yield outages. The statistics are extensive therefore allowing in-depth analysis of both customer and system related factors. From this starting point and as a model of explanation energy not supplied is studied as the consequence and the measurement of the inconvenience caused by outages. Different methods for calculating energy not supplied are developed and studied and put in comparison to the method used in Network Performance Assessment Model, which is the Swedish frame work for regulating electricity distribution.Analysis of the outage statistics show a relation between the type category of customer and outages that can be deduced to the variance and the density associated with that customer category. Prioritization of different customer categories is elevated also in this aspect.

Denna studie har undersökt hur svenska artister och representanter från svenska skivbolag uppfattar det rådande digitaliserade medieklimatets inverkan på musikbranschen. Syftet var att ta reda på hur artister samt skivbolag förhåller sig mot sociala medier, samt att undersöka hur deras upplevelser från en allt mer digitaliserad musikbransch ser ut. För att kunna utvinna en så djup analys som möjligt har jag använt mig av en kvalitativ metod där jag har genomfört fem djupintervjuer, varav tre med representanter från tre olika skivbolag, samt två med två olika osignerade artister. Jag valde att genomföra intervjuer med dessa två olika aktörer i hopp om att kunna få olika perspektiv i mina frågor. Jag har relaterat min analys till teorier om bland annat digitalisering, medieproduktion samt fankulturen. Resultatet har visat på att sociala medier är något mycket viktigt gällande både artisters kamp om att nå framgång i en allt hårdare konkurrens där bruset av osignerade band och artister blir intensivare, samt när det gäller skivbolags arbete med att marknadsföra sina artister. Dock råder det delade uppfattningar mellan artisterna och de olika skivbolagen rörande hur de sociala medierna bör användas.

This literature study aims to examine the existence of cancer stem cells in breast cancer. The cancer stem cell theory states that there is a hierarchical organization within a tumour, in which a small subpopulation of the cells can initiate new tumours and maintain tumour growth whilst the bulk of the tumour cannot. These tumour initiating cells have shown to possess many characteristics similar to those of adult stem cells, which is why they are often referred to as cancer stem cells. Both cell types have the capacity of asymmetric division and have shown to possess mechanisms of resistance to both apoptosis and cancer drugs. The cancer stem cell theory elucidates many biological aspects such as the heterogeneity of tumours and the relapse of many cancers after what appeared to be successful treatments.

The aims of the study were to investigate the prevalence and antibiotic resistance of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in chicken and chicken products, and to investigate farmer awareness of antibiotic resistance development. The study was conducted in the Can Tho province in Vietnam during six weeks in October to November 2008. Ninety-six samples from raw chickens were collected from twelve market places and analysed for the presence of Campylobacter. A total of 96 cloacal swabs from 20 farms were obtained and analysed for the presence of Campylobacter. Farmers were asked to answer eight questions concerning the housing of the chickens, modes of handling sick animals as well as use and knowledge of antibiotics and resistance development to antibiotics.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the occurrence of Cosmetic Earnings Management (CEM) among Swedish companies. CEM refers to the small upward rounding of reported net income to reach cognitive reference points. Important cognitive reference points are multiples of ten (N*10^x) of reported net income and rounding towards these has been documented in other markets around the world over the last 20 years. The occurrence of CEM on the Swedish market is studied using digital analysis, frequency testing and Benford's law. Firstly, reported net income of publicly traded companies between 1996 and 2010 is examined.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the motives underlying the consumption of alcohol among college students and if the motives differ between genders. The study is based on the following questions: What are the motives underlying alcohol consumption among students? Do these motives differ between men and women? Is there any connection between the motives for alcohol consumption and consumption? The study is a quantitative, empirical comparison study and the data presented is mainly descriptive. The study group consists of students from a university in central Sweden. After an exclusion of five students a total of 81 students participated in the survey, of which 55 were female and 26 were male.

Internet är ett relativt nytt fenomen och det finns idag inte någon specifik eller självständig lagstiftning som reglerar marknadsföring på detta område. Det var länge en allmän uppfattning att Internet var ett laglöst territorium som inte omfattades av den nationella lagstiftningen eller kunde regleras. Idag har det dock konstaterats att det inte finns någon begränsning av MFL:s tillämplighet och det är således oväsentligt vilket medium som används vid marknadsföringen. Genom den rättsdogmatiska metoden utreder vi gällande rätt för området och redogör för de regleringar som finns att tillgå då det kommer till marknadsföring riktad mot barn genom Internet.Marknadsföringen har parallellt med samhällsutvecklingen genererat nya kommunikationstekniker att tillgå. Resultatet blir att konsumenter dagligen utsätts för kommersiella påtryckningar, framförallt genom Internet som blivit en mycket potent marknadsföringskanal.

This thesis is about the idea of public transport and the discussions stirred in the media during changes in ownership. More specifically it is a study of the historical situation of Stockholm, Sweden, where the periods chosen are the 1910s, 1960s and 1990s.During the 1910s Stockholm?s first and largest tram company was taken over by thecity, and a period of public ownership began, which in the 1960s changed form whenthe county council took over the city?s principal authority and formed the politicallyadministered company SL (Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, Greater Stockholm LocalTransit Company). Between these periods the word kollektivtrafik (public transport)was established in the Swedish language. This study describes and compares the ideasconcerning the phenomenon of public transport.The aim of the study is to analyse the ideas, values and ideals concerning public transport in the media, defined as newspapers.

The motivation for this thesis lies in the knowledge that there is a crucial information need amongst LGBTQ-persons wanting to read fiction related to LGBTQ in order to strengthen their own identity. This particular information need regarding identification has been said to be more central within LGBTQ-communities than within other user groups, largely because they represent a marginalized group in society. Critical feminists, such as Hope A. Olson, have proved that knowledge organization based on systems of subject representation in fact may lead to further marginalization and exclusion of already marginalized groups. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to compare subject representation and social tagging as methods of organizing LGBTQ-fiction.

Ever since the nation-state has existed identity has been a big deal, it is told that identity is a tool needed to be able to receive consensus from the people concerned on a certain matter. As the European Union is continuously shaped and reshaped due to changing geographical borders, as a consequence of new member-states the aim to integrate the Union equally across its surface has not been an easy task to solve. A lack of trust from the inhabitants in the European Union is a fact, and therefore the main duty of the Union has become to rebuild the trust from beginning to end, creating a Union which easily can be identified with. Since the process of national identity relies upon an excluding-including process and the use of the Other, the identification process on an European level has indeed had fierce effects on the inhabitants within and outside the Union.One of many things that this essay aims at showing is how mythmaking has become a way used by the elite in the Union to integrate a European identity, the myths refer back to a Golden Age when Europe was prosperous and in bloom. Among other tools used to integrate and create a European identity we find such as; unity in diversity, a cultural inheritance based on common denominators such as Christianity and Latin traditions, symbols and a European citizenship.

The aim of the essay is to explore how so called ?safe spaces? are built, and the part that creativity can play in this construction. The essay also explores the duality of idea-based social work that at the same time strives to support vulnerable groups and strives to make social and political changes. The essay has its empirical base in the RFSL Ungdom project ?Tusen bilder, tusen ord? (A thousand pictures, a thousand words).

The interest in harvesting wood fuel in conflict stands has grown in recent years as a consequence of the increased demand for biofuel. Conflict stands are young forests that have not been cleaned and have a large number of stems ha-1with a great height and diameter distribution. This means that traditional field measurements in conflict stands are difficult and very time consuming. Therefore, the forestry sector is in need of new, more efficient inventory methods. In this study, the Lidar data from Lantmäteriet?s (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authorities) new national height model was used in combination with plots from the Swedish national forest inventory from 2009 to create functions for; height, volume, diameter and number of stems.

Syftet med det här projektet var att utforma en användarvänlig markstation till ett UAV-system.UAV står för Unmanned Aerial Vehicle och är benämningen på den obemannade luftfarkosten i ett UAV-system. Det aktuella UAV-systemet i det här projektet består av en UAV, eller drönare som den även kallas, och en markstation. Markstationen innehåller en R/C (Radio Control, styrenhet för manuell radiostyrning), en laptop och en antenn för videonerladdning. Drönaren styrs från marken av enoperatör via R/C:n men kan även flyga autonomt vilket innebär att operatören iförväg programmerat in en rutt med GPS-punkter som drönaren självständigt kanflyga efter. Drönaren kan utrustas med olika former av sensorer som laddar ner sina bilder kontinuerligt under flighten till operatörens laptop i markstationen.Uppdragsgivarna till projektet var de norska UAV-systemleverantörerna Scandicraft AS.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur en plats kan beskrivas och vilken mening som tillskrivs den. Fredrika är en mindre tätort i Västerbottens län beläget vid Viskasjöns strand. Här bor lite drygt 200 människor och i denna uppsats får vi möta sex av dem. I materialet som grundas på kvalitativa intervjuer beskrivs hur invånarna ser på sin bygd, hur det är att leva där och tankar kring framtidens utmaningar och möjligheter. För att göra detta sammankopplas ovannämnd information till teorier inom samhällsvetenskap och socialkonstruktivism och begrepp som space, imaginative geographies och reciprocitet blir satta i arbete i en analys av platsförståelse. Vidare diskuteras den gestaltning av Fredrika som sker i det offentliga rummet, som till exempel i tv, tidningar och radio. Hur ser framställningarna ut, varför ser de ut som de gör och hur relaterar invånarna till dessa bilder? För att möta dessa frågor blir begreppet representation användbart och bidrar till diskussionen om en stadsnorm.
