Hastighetsmätning av kolvrörelser i pneumatiska cylindrar
The purpose of this thesis was to investigate different methods do measure velocity of pistons in pneumatic cylinders at Bosch Rexroth Teknik AB. Through information of velocity the adjustment of a cylinders damping can be done easier.A future transducer will be used by salesmen, service personnel and customers. This requires a sensor that is easy to apply and use. It is also desirable that the sensor is cheap. A number of possible methods to measure velocity have been presented.
Algoritmer för objektdetektering i SAR och IR-bilder
The first part of the thesis consists of a brief introduction to the general principles of target detection and the sensor-systems used. In the following part there is a theoretical description of the algorithms this thesis focuses on. The detection algorithms described in this paper are called Cell Average, Ordered Statistics, 2parameter and Gammadetector. Two different discriminators called Extended Fractal Features and Quadratic Gamma Discriminator are also described. The algorithms are tested on three different types of data, simulated SAR-pictures, authentic SAR-targets and IR-pictures.
Automatisk nivåreglering av strålkastare
To be allowed to sell Z-suspended vehicles with dipped beam Xenon or LED lighting, Scania have to develop automatic headlight level control. This master?s thesis aims to be the foundation to that development.The thesis consists of several parts; a market analysis of how competitors to Scania and the general vehicle industry solve this problem; several available principles for detecting the amount of control needed; the construction of a test station for sensors, a control unit and components connected controlled by the control unit; a further theoretical and practical development of one principle ? one rotational sensor connected between the chassis and the back drive axis; a state flow model programmed in Simulink that produces the control signal for the headlight leveling from the sensor input.Lastly the thesis gives some recommendations to the further development and implementation of automatic headlight level control on Scania vehicles..
Utveckling av grindlås till förskolor
Detta examensarbete har utförts på uppdrag av HEAB stängsel. HEAB stängsel säljer och monterar stängsellösningar till företag, fastighetsbolag och kommunala förvaltningar. Projektets syfte var att utveckla ett barnsäkert lås som kan användas till grindar vid förskolor. Låset skulle vara lätt för vuxna att öppna samtidigt som det på ett effektivt sätt skulle hindra barnen från att öppna grinden och gå ut. De lås som HEAB stängsel i dagsläget säljer har både ergonomiska brister och säkerhetsbrister.
Användarkvaliteter inom söksystem : En kvantitativ studie av söksystemen på Södertörns högskola och Stockholms universitet
This essay is about testing the validity of an article written by Jonas Löwgren, called The use qualities of digital design. The study we have executed is about testing the featured qualities of digital design in the article on two search systems located in the library of Stockholm University and Södertörn University respectively to see how they are able to be applied on search systems. To acquire the information for the study, we handed out a written inquire among users of those systems. The result of this quantitative study shows us that many that five of Löwgrens qualities is likely to be present on the systems. Our conclusion is that five of these are appliable on search systems.

Product sharing systems is recently starting to become a more common phenomenon. Carpools exist in more than 40 Swedish towns and both Stockholm and Gothenburg have established bicycle sharing systems. Other products for which sharing systems have been established throughout Sweden are clothing and tools. From the point of view of the consumer, product sharing systems is a form of consumption which can be placed somewhere in between renting and privately owning a product, where the consumers usually pay a membership fee or a monthly fee to have access to the products whenever they need them. The concept is relatively new, and there are many products for which product sharing systems do not exist.

Utveckling av sensor för mätning av hjärtaktivitet
Rörelseanalys är ett nödvändigt verktyg då det gäller bedömning, uppföljning och diagnos vid alla de sjukdomar som påverkar den mänskliga rörelseapparaten. Idag finns det i Sverige ett fåtal kliniska gånglaboratorier dit patienter kan remitteras för att få en mer detaljerad och objektiv bedömning av deras rörelsemönster. Problemen med dessa gånglaboratorier är att de är förhållandevis dyra och resurskrävande.Avdelningen för Medicinsk Teknik- FoU vid Norrlands Universitetssjukhus har därför initierat ett forskningsprojekt där AnyMo, ett mobilt system för mätningar av rörelsemönster, har utvecklats.Målet med detta examensarbete var att vidareutveckla det befintliga systemet till att simultant kunna mäta hjärtats EKG, då det skulle göra undersökningen mer komplett.De delar som konstruerades i projektet var en EKG-sensor och en Master Unit, som kopplades ihop med en befintlig rörelsesensor (del av AnyMo-systemet). Informationen från sensorerna lagrades lokalt i ett minneskort på systemets Master Unit.Den färdiga produkten testades och utvärderades på en motionscykel vid olika nivåer av fysisk ansträngning och varierande rörelsefrekvens..

This study aims to examine the effect management control systems have on which goals health centers prioritize. The management control systems of one privately owned and one publicly owned health center have been studied through a qualitative case study. Robert Simons (1995) framework with four levers of control (diagnostic control systems, interactive control systems, belief systems and boundary systems) has been used to structure the study. For both health centers we found a conflict of interest mainly between the diagnostic control system and the beliefs system, where the diagnostic control system is biased towards quantitative goals and the beliefs system is mainly biased towards qualitative goals. However, despite the unbalanced levers of control the studied health centers have been able to reach a well functioning compromise between quantitative and qualitative goals..
Sensorer och system i mjölkkobesättningar : en litteraturstudie
The trend in milk production is similar in Sweden and across the world; the farms are getting fewer but increasingly bigger. The costs for hiring workers are increasing, which results in more cows per animal keeper. Sensors can then be a great tool for keeping track of animals which need special attention. With a reported decreasing fertility, sensors that can detect oestrus even at low levels can be especially helpful in bigger herds to pinpoint the cows that may be in oestrus. The number of farms with dairy cows that install AMS, Automatic Milking Systems, are increasing, and that also increases the need for sensors to control milk quality and composition when there is no visual control of the milk by a milker before milking starts.For the sensor data to be useful you have to have software designed to analyze and interpret the data to get relevant information that the farmer can use.

This is a thesis for a Bachelor Degree Project, performed in the subject MechanicalEngineering. The students Roger Malmberg and Simon Hagberg have carried out adesign project on behalf of the recently established company J&D Assisting systems,located in Halmstad.The project consisted in developing J&D's first prototype of a power assisting solutionfor wheelchairs. A power assisted wheelchair combines human power, which is deliveredby the arms through the pushrims, with electrical motors, which are powered by a battery.The power assisted wheelchair is aimed at customers, who have used a regularwheelchair for a long time, but who have become weaker or just need additional powerwhen driving uphill. This kind of wheelchair will provide additional power for users,which will spare their wrists, elbow and shoulders. The product is torque sensor free andinstead it relies on the velocity.
Power supply monitoring for wireless sensor platforms
Most of the portable electronic devices use a battery as a primary power source. Nowadays, when the applications are becoming smaller and smaller and more power efficient, the designer needs to concentrate more on reducing power consumption, using secondary power sources and introducing power storage devices. Multiple power source availability and a power storage device on the board will make the applications much more useful and efficient in everyday use. This thesis proposes a power supply unit (PSU) for wireless sensor platforms which is capable of supplying a sensor node with energy from multiple sources, as well as status information from the PSU. Present power storage devices, like electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) and batteries, have become more and more common as their characteristics have developed.
Fiberoptisk kabelsensor för perimeterövervakning
Både militärt och civilt finns det behov av att kostnadseffektivt kunna övervaka stora områden utan patrullerande vaktpersonal. Den sensor som beskrivs i detta examensarbete är tänkt att utgöra ett robust alternativ till traditionella övervakningssystem eftersom tekniken är billig och kan täcka in stora avstånd.FOI(Totalförsvarets Forskningsinstitut) utvecklar tekniken för sensorn på uppdrag av FMV(Försvarets Materielverk). Ett tidigare examensarbete [1] har utrett en enklare sensor och formulerat teorin för den sensor som den här rapporten behandlar. Sensorn bygger på polarisation och det faktum att en monomodfiber påverkar polarisationen olika beroende på yttre mekaniska påfrestningar. Med hjälp av flera testsignaler med olika polarisation kan tillräckligt mycket information insamlas för att fullständigt beskriva fiberns påverkan på polarisationen.
Utveckling av reglersystem till quadrokopter
The purpose of this project was to further develop and complete a quadcopter that had been built in an earlier course at KTH, so that it could be used for demonstration and education at the school. The quadcopter was at the beginning of the project completed when it came to hardware, and there was some software functionality implemented but no system for automatic stabilization. The main goal of the project was to implement such a system, and to combine it with the previous functionality to make the quadcopter operable and able to fly. To create a functioning and stable ground multiple basic software features has been implemented, and on top of that additional software to improve the safety, stability and functionality. The most important part is the control system that is responsible for converting sensor and control signals to suitable motor values.
