Tolerans eller normkritik? : och en analys av anvÀndning av lÀrarhandledningen NÄgonstans gÄr grÀnsen

This study deals with how the Swedish school system handles questions concerning sexuality and normality. It is also an analysis of how the guidance material NÄgonstans gÄr grÀnsen from RFSL Stockholm is used and could be used in teaching.The study consists of two parts. The first part is a study of literature that portrays how teaching concerning these issues is performed in schools, what methods that are recommended and what methods are actually used in teaching. The second part consists of interviews with people dealing with these issues in school and in organizations.My results show that schools often use a ?pedagogy of tolerance? while the guidance material and the research and theories concerning sexuality and normality advocate a more ?queer pedagogy?.

Den lesbiska blicken : En undersökning av blick och betraktarskap utifrÄn tre mÄlningar av Romaine Brooks

This paper aims to investigate the terms and conditions of a lesbian gaze and a lesbian spectatorship from a feminist and queer theoretical point of view. The empirical material consists of three paintings by the American artist Romaine Brooks (1874-1970).  Brooks was based in Paris in the early 20th century where she was surrounded by a group of intellectual and usually cross-dressing lesbians. The women within this context are the ones depicted in Brooks? paintings and this makes her one of the first artists in modernity to openly portray lesbian and cross-dressing women.

Den homosexuella huvudstaden : En studie av Stockholm i en queer tillÀmpning av GIS i kvalitativa studier

Det övergripande syftet för denna studie Àr att problematisera GIS som ett positivistiskt instrumentför samhÀllsplanering och geografiforskning samt praktiskt anamma en kritisk, queerteoretisk ochkvalitativ tillÀmpning pÄ GIS-baserade analyser. För att detta ska vara genomförbart krÀver det enkvalitativ analys av hur mÀnniskor utanför det hÀrskande narrativet faktiskt anvÀnder och uppleverstadsrum och vilka konsekvenser de normativa strukturerna har genom att analysera hurhomosexuella mÀn i Stockholm upplever och anvÀnder stadsrum. Genom en seriefokusgruppssamtal med homosexuella mÀn bosatta i Stockholm har studien visat hur kvalitativadata kan inkorporeras och vara underlag för kvalitativa analyser i GIS. Studien har visat hur enepistemologisk och praktiskt integration av kritisk geografi och GIS kan bidra till en mer nyanseradbild av GIS. Vidare visar studien hur ett GIS kan anvÀndas för att visualisera maktförhÄllanden ochkritiskt utmana det hÀrskande narrativet.

Bortom ?könet?? : om Simones förvandling, avslöjande och ÄterstÀllande i Ulf Starks DÄrfinkar & dönickar (1984)

The aim of this paper is to analyse how subject, gender and sexuality is constructed in the book DÄrfinkar & dönickar (1984), by Ulf Stark. In relation to this I have also analysed how the main character, Simone, develops from being a child into becoming a teenager.Queertheory is the theoretical basis of this paper. Queer theory questions heteronormativity and aims to dissolve conceptions and notions that function in an excluding and limiting way. Queer theory also questions conceptions that seem obvious and/or natural, for example ?woman?/?man? and ?homo-/heterosexuality?.I have chosen to focus the analysis on a number key events in the book and they are categorised according to Tiina Rosenberg`s three dramaturgic concepts: transformation, unveiling and restoration.

"VĂ€lsignad vare illusionen" : Normer och ideal i Karin Boyes Astarte

In this essay I analyze Karin Boye?s first novel, Astarte, focusing on her views concerning norms,ideals and female liberation. The novel is written in a tone of irony, allowing for many of thecharacters to be viewed as caricatures. The theories and methods I use are drawn from genderstudies and queer theory. Queer theorist Judith Butler, and the concepts of performativity, interpellation, genealogy and the heterosexual matrix, are of central importance for my analysis.

Syndens Scheherazade. En studie av subjekt och sexualitet i Birgitta Stenbergs "KĂ€rlek i Europa"

Birgitta Stenberg?s autobiographical novel KĂ€rlek i Europa was published in 1981. It takes placein the fifties and is written in a genre popular in Sweden during the seventies, the feministconfession novel. The genre had a strong political purpose, by way of sharing experiences ofliving as a woman in a patriarchal society the aim was to raise consciousness of oppression andmake way for liberation and sisterhood. But there was not room for everyone in the feministstruggle.

De(o)begripliga familjerna : en diskursanalys av SOU 2001:10 Barn i homosexuella familjer

Mitt syfte med denna uppsats Àr att analysera den statliga offentliga utredningen SOU 2001:10 Barn i homosexuella familjer, för att se hur den normala respektive den onormala familjen skapas genom olika distinktioner. Jag fokuserar pÄ hur kön/genus och begÀr kan ses som betydelsebÀrande konstruktioner i skapandet av den hetero- och den homosexuella familjen, samt den heterosexuella normens makt att begripliggöra handlingar, beteenden och kategorier.Jag analyserar min empiri, SOU 2001:10, med hjÀlp av feministiska och queer teoretiska utgÄngspunkter, dÀr inspiration hÀmtats frÄn dessa teoriers konstruktivistiska och dekonstruktivistiska ansatser. Jag har i uppsatsen varit intresserad av att visa hur queerteori kan anvÀndas för att dekonstruera ett empiriskt material som har materiell och kulturell betydelse.I uppsatsen visar jag hur Butlers heterosexuella matris kan anvÀndas för att förstÄ hur den homosexuella familjen normeras i utredningen. I kapitlet Familjens ?ontologi? visar jag hur den homosexuella familjen och den heterosexuella familjen skapar varandra och hur den heterosexuella hegemonin drar upp grÀnserna för de (o)begripliga familjerna..

"De vet ju inte vems sÀng de ligger i" : En studie om vÄrdpersonals tolkningar, bemötande och hantering av demenssjukas sexuella uttryck

The purpose of this study is to increase understanding of how nursing home staff at dementia care facilities interpret, treat and manages sexual behavior of patients. Four group interviews were made with a total of thirteen participants from three different dementia care facilities. The collected material was processed and thematized in pursuance of the research questions of the study. The results were analysed using three concepts from queer theory; heteronormativity, the heterosexual matrix and power, as well as an article about how nursing home staff constructs actions of patients. The results showed that staff member?s assessments about the patient?s sexual behaviours depended on their posture towards the norm of what is considered to be acceptable.

En trojansk My Little Pony : En genusvetenskaplig kulturanalys av Sara Granérs seriebok All I Want for Christmas is planekonomi ur ett gurleskt och skevt perspektiv

Sweden has an active and growing culture of feminist comic book artists that use comedy as a mean of disseminating political ideas and critic. In this essay I do a reparative reading of Sara Granér?s comic book All I Want for Christmas is planekonomi in order to find out if it advocates alternative orders and/or ways of expression. By exploring what the comic book does to me as a reader and how, using the term ?skev? ? a hybrid of queer that examines normativity not strictly tied to sexuality ? and gulesque theory ? a mix of feminism, cuteness, the grotesque and riot grrrl ?, I show that the comic book, through the use of comedy, works as a trojan My Little Pony, reclaiming the girly franchise, while challenging several so-called dichotomies, such as: femininity/masculinity; youth/adult; high art/kitsch.

Att inkludera eller exludera : En kvantitativ studie om socionomstudenters förhÄllningssÀtt till specifik kompetens i mötet med HBTQ-klienter

The aim of the study was to examine which approach future social workers have regarding specific competence in the meeting with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer clients. Previous research shows that LGBTQ people have a low confidence towards social services, police and courts and say they face discrimination and degrading treatment to a greater extent than the heterosexual population. Research shows that education and better skills of LGBTQ culture among professionals can change the situation.The essay is based on a model of cultural competence in working with sexual minorities and people with a transgender expression. The model defines the meaning of an LGBTQ perspective and is designed to improve social work with LGBTQ clients.The study is quantitative and empirical data consists of 203 survey responses from students with a long experience of the social work education. The analysis of the results is based on the cultural competence three principles; attitudes, knowledge and skills.

Psykopaten i garderoben : En queer lÀsning av Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho

The novel American Psycho was first published in 1991. It recieved harsh criticism and was viewed as a work of heterosexism, misogyny and pointless violence. Despite the criticism, the protagonist, a wealthy serial killer yuppie namned Patrick Bateman, fascinated the readers. He hides his monstrosity behind a façade of heteronormativity, but this essay shows that the norms in American Psycho are fragile. Batemans relationships are shallow, his identity is constructed out of traditional masculinitynorms and even though he?s homophobic there?s a homoerotic undertone in the text, as well as gothic patterns that give the novel a fair amount of queerness too.

This study focuses on single peoples construction of their lifes in relation to normative heterosexual coupledom. It is based on five interviews made with single women and men at the age of 24 to 51 who live by themselves. The queer theory which puts the heteronormativity in question is used as a theoretical framework. Discourse psychology functions as an analytic approach. It focuses on the use of language in the construction of reality in a world of determinant discourses.
