Different ways of naming the two pitches between A and C exist in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The Germanic tradition uses B and H, whereas the Anglo-Saxon tradition uses Bb and B. The aim of this study was to present a survey of the various opinions regarding these pitch names. The material consisted of different opinions about this matter from Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish websites. By means of discourse analysis the material was analysed in themes, which consisted of logic, tradition and communication.

The research this report is based on aims to find out the characteristic features of the marketing tools that are essential for a music artist, and define a successful artist. The thesis arises and discusses how different medias can have an affect on an artists career and on his/hers achievement. To bee seen in the right medias can have an important influence on their career. To be able to answer our aim we have interviewed people who have a solid knowledge about music business, we have also used a qualitative method. The outcome of the research is that there are some indications that show important factors which are essential when it comes to marketing artists.

Musikestetiska produktioner i den pedagogiska verksamheten - en fallstudie av Allvar Gullstrandgymnasiet

Title: Music-esthetical productions in the educational work - a case study of the Allvar Gullstrand highschool.Problem: A problem associated with working with project- and thematic studies which result in esthetical productions is that it often demands extra effort and time beyond the schedule to carry the production through. There are no instructions saying that schools are to work with this kind of arrangements, but nevertheless it occurs in most schools, however in a different extent, quality and form. Purpose: The purpose of my study is to elucidate possibilities and limitations in different methods of work and structures, and also examine what motives the teachers and the school management have for working with a music-esthetical production as a goal. Method: I have done a qualitative case study of a Swedish upper secondary school where I interviewed four teachers and one principal, to get a view of reality and examine how teachers with different background look at, and in reality behave in, the work with music-esthetical productions in the education. Conclusions: What I have concluded in this case study is the importance of having a clear goal and that the project works are considered to create meaning and personal growth.

This thesis is about the interaction between composition, notation and interpretation and what occurs between the fields with an extended notation.The purpose of my thesis is to examine the possibilities tothoroughly describe and map the sounding samples through composition prototypes.The thesis has a qualitative approach, and the empirical material consists of different documents about notation and from interviews with musicians and students about the instruments used in the thesis.It also consists of 17 compositions recorded at Örebro University School of Music as an appendix.The analysis shows that the context in which the symbols are found, play an important role in performing them. The purpose of this essay is to discuss different memory techniques used by pianists so I can feel secure while performing during concerts. How do pianists learn to memorise music? According to me, are certain memorisation techniques more effective than others? Do pianists use different methods depending on repertoire? To find my answers, I have studied two other pianists? outcomes on the subject as well as applied my chosen memorising techniques on five pieces from different epochs. Title: Teaching improvisation in different musical genres My curiosity for teaching improvisation in different genres emerged when I started playing with musicians who had another musical background than my own. I wanted to acquire a better understanding of what improvisation means to them and how improvisation is taught in their genre. The aim of this study is to gain insight into four pedagogues' methods of teaching improvisation. The four pedagogues represent the genres of jazz, blues, organ music and folk music. I chose these four genres for two reasons.

Ett val för studierna eller yrket? : En intervjustudie av musiklärares syn på sina val av inriktning under studietiden

Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka musiklärares syn på huruvida deras val av specialiseringar under studietiden var adekvata för deras nuvarande yrkesroll.Den kvalitativa forskningsintervjun har använts som metod och informanterna består av fyra före detta studenter från musikhögskolan Ingesund som arbetar som verksamma musiklärare. I min teoretiska utgångspunkt har jag valt att fokusera på musikeridentitet och läraridentitet. Resultatet av studien visar att informanterna valde sina inriktningar framförallt på grund av det egna musicerandet, men också för att få behörighet att undervisa i ämnet. Det framkommer också att läraryrket är mer än bara lärande och konflikthantering, och att samtal med elever och mentorskap har nästan lika stor del som lärandet. Det som informanterna har lärt sig mest av under sin utbildning till musiklärare är praktiken..

Vi, Anna Nilsson och Jeanette Svensson, valde att producera musikvideos under vårat kandidatarbete på Blekinge tekniska högskola. Detta eftersom vi båda har ett stort intresse till musik och rörlig bild. Vi valde att göra två stycken för att lära oss produktionens process grundligt och för att nu kunna jämför de båda och av detta ta lärdom. Den ena musikvideon gjorde vi till en skånsk duett som heter KC och den andra till Advance Patrol. Båda låtarna är inom genren hiphop.

This Master's thesis concerns the classification of compact discs according to the Swedish classification system, SAB. The purpose of this thesis is to critically study and discuss category Y of the SAB-system and its application in Swedish public libraries. The classification system has undergone great changes from the first edition in 1921 until today. In 1921 there were no musical recordings in Swedish libraries, today they are responsible for a large part of the loans. We discuss how the system's category Y has corresponded with the musical development.

Title: An encounter with an unknown piece of music. This essay describes the mechanisms involved in musical interpretation, by studying a score and listening to a recording. I have tried to map processes dealing with listening and score reading through an experiment, in which students from the Malmö Academy of Music were presented with a novel piece of music. I have made some conclusions, for instance it seems as though there is a connection in the interpretation between musical complexity and tempo, and a connection between dynamics and pitch, moreover that the participants in this study seem to be affected by the interpretational practice at the Malmö Academy of Music. The study is qualitative in its design both regarding data collection and interpretation of data.

ABSTRACTTitle: Cultural dimensions? and their relevance in the interpretation of TV commercialsThe purpose of this study has been to explain the cultural dimensions masculinity versus femininityand individualism versus collectivism and see what their impacts on interpreting commercials are.We also wanted to see if there are any other important aspects to consider when looking at theinterpretation of TV-commercials. To fulfill this purpose we also used this research question:?How are the cultural dimensions relevant when it comes to interpreting TV-commercials?We used a qualitative approach when conducting this study. We found that the dimensionindividualism versus collectivism seemed the most applicable, while the respondents? answers fittedthe best to the highlighted theories.
