Icke-anvÀndare av UmeÄ universitetsbibliotek : En utvÀrdering av UmeÄ universitetsbiblioteks studiemiljö utifrÄn icke-anvÀndarnas perspektiv

UmeĂ„ universitetsbibliotek Ă€r en plats dĂ€r studenter inte bara kan fĂ„ tillgĂ„ng till information och material de behöver, utan det Ă€r Ă€ven en plats dĂ€r det finns möjlighet att studera. Universitetsbiblioteket har genomfört anvĂ€ndarundersökningar, men i dessa framkommer inte icke-anvĂ€ndarnas Ă„sikter och det Ă€r dĂ€rför av intresse att undersöka varför somliga studenter vĂ€ljer att inte studera pĂ„ biblioteket. Syftet med denne utvĂ€rdering var att fĂ„ en inblick i varför en del inte studerar i universitetsbiblioteket och om brister i studiemiljön eller studenters kĂ€nnedom om den kan vara bidragande orsaker till detta. FrĂ„gestĂ€llningarna som skulle besvaras var: Vad Ă€r det som gör att studenter inte vĂ€ljer att studera i universitetsbiblioteket? Är nĂ„got fel i den nuvarande studiemiljön? KĂ€nner studenterna inte till vad biblioteket har att erbjuda? För att besvara frĂ„gorna genomfördes en enkĂ€tundersökning bland studenter pĂ„ campus, enkĂ€ten var anpassad sĂ„ att bĂ„de anvĂ€ndare och icke-anvĂ€ndare skulle kunna besvara den och enkĂ€ten hade en frĂ„ga för att kunna se vilka som var icke-anvĂ€ndare.

Urval vid digitalisering av affischer pÄ Kungl. biblioteket

This thesis presents a study aiming to identify the selection criteria for the digitization of posters at the National Library of Sweden (Kungl. biblioteket). The theory is that cultural heritage institutions are empowered to decide how our cultural heritage is presented as they select what items (or, as in this study, posters) will be digitized. The poster is studied as it is an interesting media form which historically was an important means of communication. The poster can represent and reflect historical events and opinions in society.

Implikationer av tjÀnsteföretagets utfÀstelser för kunders reaktioner i felsituationen

The characteristic of services as an effort carried out in a "moment of truth" implies a risk for failures. This study sheds new light on how alternative offerings that customers are initially exposed to can affect satisfaction and loyalty in the service failure and recovery context. More specifically, two aspects of the initial offering are studied: promised general service quality and the presence of a promise about a specific product attribute. Based on a presentation of the main theoretical perspectives, hypotheses are formulated and a scenario-based experiment in a hotel setting is designed to explore these. The results indicate that a higher level of promised service quality can result in more positive evaluations of satisfaction and stronger word-of-mouth intentions than for a lower level of promised service quality.

We are two students of Horticulture management with marketing profile, now doing an extended course in Business Leadership within horticulture and agriculture. During our 2 years of studies we have used the same company once before, and this project is an expansion of a previous piece of work. We decided, in agreement with the company, to use an inquiry for our study. For this we have contacted 290 of the company's already existing customers. The primary purpose of the survey is to analyze the service offered by the company.

TillgÀnglighet med kollektivtrafik - GIS-analys av UmeÄregionen

The purpose of this study is to examine the accessibility with public transportation in the case of the UmeÄ Region in northern Sweden. This is done by GIS network analysis where both access to transit stops, as well as access by public transport from stops to destinations is examined. An accessibility index is created from transit frequency and travel times to destinations. The results is compared with population register data to calculate what shares of the population has which levels of accessibility with public transportation. In the UmeÄ Region there are different levels of accessibility by public transport for different parts of the region, where transit stops in the most densely populated areas has the highest levels of accessibility, as well as stations along the railroads.

PÄ spaning efter en kÀrnverksamhet : vilken Àr egentligen folkbibliotekets huvuduppgift?

The aim of this two-year masters thesis is to look for the Swedish public libraryÂŽs core business, using theories about competence. The approach is qualitative. It is done by studying the Unesco Public Library Manifesto, the Swedish library legislation, the education in library and information science, two important Swedish library related journals and by asking public librarians about their work and point of view regarding competence.The research shows mainly two sides of the core competence of public librarians: information technology competence and literature knowledge. The conclusion is that the two meet in the idea of mass education, which could therefore be called the Swedish public libraryÂŽs core business..

WEB SERVICES FÖR MOBILAPPLIKATIONER : Utveckling av sĂ€kra RESTful web services för mobilapplikationer

This report describes the development of a RESTful web service for mobile applications. The web service makes resources from an existing system called kompetensdatabasen ("the competence database") available. Kompetensdatabasen holds information about the capabilities of consultants and about assignments carried out at the IT consultant business Nethouse AB.The web service was developed according to the principles of REST and ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture) which puts focus on making resources available. The resources are made available through the HTTP protocol and the methods associated with it. This means it was designed to use the same technologies as the world wide web.

The purpose of this study is to examine the physical space of children?s libraries in Sweden, and also to see which influences there are in the literature about the same subject. What ideas exist in the literature about the physical room of children?s libraries? We have studied how and if these influences can be seen in a selected number of children?s libraries. Our theoretical perspective is based on Anthony Gidden?s theory of construction.

Webbaserad lösning för hantering av BibTeX-databaser

Som avslutande del i högskoleingenjörsutbildningar ingÄr ofta ett examensarbete. Denna rapport behandlar ett examensarbete som utförts för avdelningen för datorkommunikation och datalogi vid LuleÄ Tekniska Universitet. Avdelningen för datorkommunikation och datalogi har sedan tidigare anvÀnt sig av ett webbaserat system för hantering av BibTeX-databaser. Systemet var skrivet i Perl och bestod av tre skript och ett BibTeX-bibliotek. Med senare versioner av Perl och anvÀndandet av BibTeX-biblioteket uppstod vissa problem, den nya versionen av Perl var inte lÀngre kompatibelt med BibTeX- biblioteket.

Shop until you drop : En studie i konsumentbeteende och julmarknadens betydelse

Syftet med denna uppsats Àr att genom intervjuer med tre medelÄlders kvinnor, ta del av deras upplevelser av Adventsmarknaden och friluftsmuséets Lilla Julmarknad i Gamla Linköping. Genom intervjuer och deltagande observation vid marknaderna undersöker jag pÄ vilket sÀtt informanterna besöker en marknad och hur deras syn pÄ shopping och service styr deras besök. Uppsatsen belyser hur de shoppar nÀr de besöker en marknad, hur de ser pÄ service och hur detta pÄverkar deras upplevelse. Slutsatsen av denna studie Àr kortfattat att de besöker marknaden, och shoppar pÄ tre skilda sÀtt. De definierar och uppskattar service pÄ olika sÀtt och handlar olika typer av varor.

Internpriser i praktiken: - en fallstudie

This paper presents a study of the Swedish public service television broadcaster - Sveriges Televisions (SVT) transfer pricing model. The aim of the thesis is to examine the motives for using transfer pricing from a theoretical perspective and if SVT?s transfer pricing model fulfils these motives. We will also examine any potential managerial problems the existing transfer-pricing model might cause and discuss how these could be solved. We have in our study found that the main motive for using transfer pricing within SVT is to allocate internal resources as efficiently as possible.

Porr och rasistisk propaganda pÄ svenska folkbibliotek : skall folkbiblioteken tillÄta ett fritt internetanvÀndande eller skall man kontrollera sina internetterminaler?

This paper deals with the use of Internet at Swedish public libraries. The author asks whether public libraries should or should not limit access to information available on the Internet. Starting from the American discussion, concerning Internet at public libraries, the author shows the Swedish attitudes. The paper demonstrates that many Swedish public libraries have adopted rules forbidding retrieval of certain kinds of information, such as hard-core pornography and racist propaganda. The persons in charge of such actions claim that public libraries should provide high-quality educational literature and should not spread mass-produced, provocative information.

Biblioteket i civilsamhÀllet. Ett komplement till kommunens uppgift för en hÄllbar utveckling?

The purpose of this master thesis is to find out if library activities in civil society may be seen as a complement to public activities. The incitement lies in a discussion in the research activities of social sciences and among politicians, where the opinion is that civil society may function as a complement to governmental policy. The NGO-library Föreningen Miljöbiblioteket i Lund and the municipality of Malmö stad where chosen as units for examination. The common feature of the two units is the global task introduced by the UN, to create a sustainable development. The material used is exclusively concerning domestic information activities.

VÀlkommen till biblioteket : En kvalitativ utvÀrdering av lÀsfrÀmjande verksamhet för förstaklassare

Den hĂ€r utvĂ€rderingen undersöker den lĂ€sfrĂ€mjande verksamheten Ettorna pĂ„ Östersunds stadsbibliotek. Ettorna tar emot besök av förstaklassare med mĂ„let att vĂ€lkomna dem till biblioteket. Syftet med utvĂ€rderingen Ă€r att undersöka frĂ€mst barnens upplevelser av besöket och dĂ€rigenom fĂ„ en förstĂ„else förom verksamheten verkar lĂ€sfrĂ€mjande. Syftet med utvĂ€rderingen Ă€r ocksĂ„ att undersöka verksamhetens genomförande gentemot de mĂ„l verksamheten har och se om den skulle kunna förĂ€ndras och/eller förbĂ€ttras med hjĂ€lp av en utveckling av mĂ„l och styrning.UtvĂ€rderingen har genomförts genom observationer av tre besök, intervjuer med tolv av de barn som medverkat pĂ„ besöken, intervjuer med de tre ansvariga lĂ€rarna för de aktuella besöken samt intervjuer med den ansvariga bibliotekarien. Resultaten av utvĂ€rderingen har visat att barnen och lĂ€rarna varit överens om vad som Ă€r positivt och negativt med besöket.

 Abstract  Interest in Lean grows and spreads to the public from industrial and service sectors. Lean is currently used in administrative processes and it is called Administration but can administration be Lean? The aim of our study is to develop a useful model for a successful implementation of Lean Administration by using various scientific articles, books and information from the case study.The part of the purpose is to: ? Identify critical success factors that arise? Identify the challenges arising from the implementation of Lean Administration.We have studied a Division within Distribution at GE Healthcare in Uppsala. The model that we have developed provides challenges and success factors for a successful implementation.In order to succeed in implementation, a culture that promotes continuous improvement must exist in the organization. A key success factor is to understand Lean Administrations structure and principles.
