Ett av de mest notoriska dilemman i dagens kosmologi är den mörka materians natur och dess förekomst i universum. Mot bakgrund av detta har nya forskningsdiscipliner med rötterna i Einsteins relativitetsteori växt fram, bl.a. teorin om gravitationslinser som möjliggör en indirekt observationsmetod av ljussvaga kompakta objekt som annars skulle vara mycket svåra eller omöjliga att upptäcka på traditionella vis, såsom svarta hål.Via en genomgång av grundteorin för gravitationslinser, några enkla teoretiska studier och en grundläggande felmarginalsanalys illustreras hur olika typer av kompakta objekt i Vintergatans omedelbara omgivning kan ge upphov till vissa karakteristiska linsfenomen. Detta sätts i relation till rådande teorier om den tidigaste stjärnbildningen och de massiva kompakta rester som denna generation av mycket massiva stjärnor bör ha efterlämnat ? i synnerhet intermediära svarta hål med massor på 100-1000 Msol som ännu kan finnas i dagens mörka galaxhalor.

This report is a documentation of the workflow and the result of a project carried out by twostudents from the Royal Institute of Technology in collaboration with a company. The report isstructured in a chronological order and describes the methods and systems developed in theworkflow. The report shows how the project evolved from a study phase to the various proposals onthe concept solutions.The project aims to develop a systematic way of bonding two different kind of cardboard under fiveminutes. By conducting a general study about glue and its different forms it was possible to obtain abroad knowledge, which helped to choose the right substances to later use in testing on the differentcardboard materials in question. Glues's survey resulted in a list of different substances that wererelevant to the project.

There?s still one problem to solve and that is the lackof web content specifically adapted for smartphones.The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyze from a user and usability perspective howto make a successful migration and design of a user interface for an existing web basedsystem so that it also fit smartphones.The paper starts with a theoretical reference material containing examples of differentapproaches for design and migration of an interface.A case study is performed and prototypes are designed with support from guidelines andrecommendations in the theory part.The conclusion stipulates that in the present situation there are no shortcuts when it comes tomigration of an existing web based system for the mobile web. The recommendation is aspecific interface for each different unit that are going to interact with the system.Research that analyzes differences between all mobile web browsers would be of greatinterest, a research that hopefully leads to guidelines for what level of mobile web standardthey should at least support.

Det kom allt fler signaler att ensamheten bland äldre har ökat, även att äldres känslor av ensamhet har blivit ett problem som påverkar den ensamme psykiskt negativt. Sveriges äldre generation över 65 år beräknas att öka med ca 22 procent mellan åren, 2005-2010. Ett ökat behov av socialt umgänge bland de äldre i kommunen blev anledningen till att Röda Korset engagerade sig i uppsökande verksamhet. Detta sker med hjälp av frivilliga medmänniskor som besöker äldre som lever i ensamhet. Syftet med studien var att utvärdera hur Röda Korsets uppsökande verksamhet har fungerat för de berörda äldre i Karlskrona kommun.

I denna rapport utreds olika metoder för att kunna reglera vattennivån i vattenkraftverket Avesta Lillfors i Dalarna. Två kraftverk ligger endast 900 m uppströms och detta gör att svarstiderna blir korta och regleringen blir lätt nervös. Att använda sig av vattennivåreglering i ett kraftverk för-enklar dess styrning då anpassning till inflödet sker automatiskt.En flödestabell har tagits fram genom mätningar i turbinen, med hjälp av Winter-Kennedy-metoden. Denna tabell används för att kunna fram-koppla regulatorn och därmed dämpa stora variationer i inflödet. Dessu-tom har en modell av älven skapats och testats med en återkopplad PID-regulator.

The aim of this thesis was to investigate the possibility of integrating an item tracking systemwith a monitoring system currently under development at Fifth Generation Technologies (P) Ltd.A literature study of RFID technology and the networks ZigBee and MiWi was done. Based onthe literature study a concept for a distributed system was developed.The concept is to have several RFID readers placed in the area where tracking is to be performedand allow them to communicate with each other through wireless communication. The RFIDreaders shall be able to form zones and filter the data that is forwarded from the zones to theservers and thus perform some of the work that the server would normally have to do. Theconcept has been evaluated by prototype development and testing. The prototype uses an ultrahigh frequency RFID reader and a MiWi network.The test indicated some limitations with the selected technologies.

AbstractKlimatpiloterna är ett projekt utformat av Kalmars kommun. Projektets mål är att skapa kunskap kring en klimatsmart livsstil. Studien syftar till att skapa en fördjupad förståelse för deltagarna i projektet klimatpiloterna. Förståelse för deltagarnas attityder och värderingar kring miljöfrågor utifrån moral, ansvar och livspolitik. Klimatpiloternas miljömedvetenhet undersöks genom kvalitativa intervjuer.

Skogen räknas som en förnybar resurs, men avskogning kan ändå drabba även de tidigare mest skogsbeklädda områdena. Avskogning ger upphov till stora koldioxidutsläpp och förlust av ekosystemtjänster. Med återplantering kan dock ny skog kompensera för tidigare uttag och en god skogsskötsel kan ge en resurs som gynnar både dagens och kommande generationer. Investeringskostnader i skogen kan upplevas som en stor utgift för dagens generation, då avkastningen kan komma att infalla flera generationer senare. I Sverige styrs dock skogsbruket av Skogsvårdslagen (1979:429) och i denna studie riktas uppmärksamheten framförallt på återplanteringsskyldigheten.

This thesis was performed at Indusec ABin Stockholm. Indusec AB is a companythat develops security solutions.Together with the Police of Sweden theyhave gotten the assignment to develop anapplication based on one of theiralready existing product Inferno soundbarrier. This application is supposed tobe mounted on a ballistic shield thatthe police use, the application consistsof a speaker box (the sound barrier) anda trigger with wire. The trigger withwire is the part that will be addressedin this thesis. The application willthen be used as a tool to surprise atarget at various skirmishes.The project consists of three majorphases, pre-study, concept generationand modeling.

Personliga beslut om sparande drivs av många olika motiv, några är, behovet av att bygga upp tillgångar för att finansiera konsumtion under den senare delen av livet, osäkerhet om framtiden och att spara åt nästa generation. Sparandet för konsumtion under pensionsåren är generellt ansett som det viktigaste motivet till att spara. En faktor som ger ett ökat intresse för att studera sparande ärden åldrande befolkningen i de rika delarna av världen. Medelåldern i Europa stiger och befolkningen blir äldre och lever längre.Resultaten visade att inflationen var den variabel som har störst påverkan på sparkvoten. Inte långt efter kom variablerna arbetslöshet, inkomsttillväxt och handelsbalans.

Digitizing objects and environments from real world has become an important part of creating realistic computer graphics. Through the use of structured lighting and laser time-of-flight measurements the capturing of geometric models is now a common process. The result are visualizations where viewers gain new possibilities for both visual and intellectual experiences. This thesis presents the reconstruction of the Parthenon temple and its environment in Athens, Greece by using a 3D laser-scanning technique. In order to reconstruct a realistic model using 3D scanning techniques there are various phases in which the acquired datasets have to be processed.

The purpose of this BA-thesis is to examine how many girls, boys, women and men who appear in children?s programmes in the years 1978, 1992 and 2007. We have also studied if they are described as typical gender role stereotypes and we have looked at the power conditions between girls and boys, women and men and children and adults. From the results we then examined the changes through out the years. We have made this possible by choosing two days each year when most children were watching the programmes.With the gender role theory we have brought up the important issue of the fact that men appear more frequently in media then women and by doing so the media preserve men as the standard gender.

Youth unemployement in Sweden is at an all-time high, a fifth of all university and college students live in poverty and the number of young on welfare is increasing. This study attempts to answer the question of how youth deprivation has been made possible as a consequence of political action, focusing on youth unemployment. I critically examine the role of the Swedish government, the Swedish Labour Organisation (LO), and the various government departments through text analysis, in order to answer the question of how the current discourse on youth position in the labor market. Because youth unemployment is not an isolated phenomena the analysis covers several policy areas, such as education policy, labor market regulation and housing policy. I use discourse theories drawn from Laclau and Mouffe to expose how language is used as an instrument of political power. I conclude that the current situation is a result of policy choices where the young have fallen behind due to lack of political organization. Their situation is not problematized to the required degree and is often explained on an individual level rather than on a structural level. .
