Erosion in coastal areas is a common problem all around the world. The range of the problem depends on several factors, i.e. type of bed-rock and soil, wind and wave climate. Another factor is whether the area is of high interest, i.e. if the area is important for tourism and recreation, if there are houses and other buildings close to the shoreline or if it is a site of special scientific interest.

This master thesis deals with questions concerning facts and fiction in the world of Beatrix Potter's rabbits. The purpose is first and foremost to find the connections between the pet rabbits, that she used as art models, and the rabbits that came to life through her "tales".The method has been to gather facts through biographic reading, and to analyse Beatrix Potter's rabbit tales, using tools developed by Swedish picture book experts. The rabbit characters are thoroughly examined and so are the settings where the tales take place. Matters concerning Beatrix Potter's painting technique and illustration style as well as her literary and pictorial inspirations are dealt with.Conclusions are, that the fictive rabbit characters have indeed a lot to do with the fact that Beatrix Potter was interested in natural history and studied animal behaviour and anatomy in detail. For a long time rabbits, both wild and domesticated, were her favourite study objects which provided conditions for her rabbit fantasies.

The purpose of this study is to examine and explain why three Swedish public libraries failedin their ambition to act as information services for small and medium-sized firms (SMF). To support this purpose two major assumptions are made:1) Public libraries who plan to run this kind of "business" must act with the same means as "professional" services.2) The service must be adjusted to the information needs of the customer.Based on these assumptions sixteen factors which are crucial to the "success" for this kind of service are presented.Applied to the information services of Lidkoping, Sölvesborg and Västervik, these factors reveal a number of shortcomings and mistakes made by the libraries.To understand this result these information services are seen as parts of a traditional Swedish public "library-thought". It is shown that, fundamental ideas in the way the public libraries are defined, like the responsibility to act in a neutral and democratic way, also characterised the three information services.These ideas together with the opinion of SMF as a "rational" information-consumer resulted in information services who did not meet the information-needs and information-behaviour of SMF..

På grund av vårt stora och gemensamma intresse för konståkning valde vi att sätta upp en isshow i samarbete med Lunds konståkningsklubb. Rapporten behandlar hur det är att försöka leda ett projekt i en ideell förening samt tar upp vikten av kommunikation och ledarskap för att ett projekt ska lyckas. Den tar upp problem som uppstått under projektets gång och hurdana lösningar vi funnit till dessa problem. Vi har också undersökt hur man ljussätter en isyta och hur man går tillväga när föreställningen som ska ljussättas inte står färdig förrän dagen före premiär..

Vi alla måste ta beslut dagligen. Vi stöter på problem som vi måste lösa, både i vardagen och i arbetslivet. Problemlösning är en stor del av din vardag som grafisk designer, då du jobbar med att bland annat underlätta eller förbättra situationer åt användare. Som grafisk designer jobbar du alltid med en målgrupp i varje projekt. I det här projektet är min målgrupp personer som ser problem som någonting negativt och kallar problem omöjliga, innan de ens försökt ta tag i dem.

Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka vad två klasser som läser Matematik A anser om öppna vardagsanknutna problem. Det granskas ifall arbetssättet kan vara en tillgång i den svenska gymnasieskolan. Två uppgifter med lärarhandledning och tillhörande bedömningsmall konstrueras. Forskning kring vardagsanknuten undervisning samt motivation hos elever belyses. De delaktiga eleverna har besvarat en enkät som behandlar attitydfrågor samt hur deras motivation i matematik är.

The aim of this paper has been to investigate how accounting firms govern their organizations with regards to the complexity in the service that they offer. The service includes the general accounting tasks which through standardization can be cost efficient, the advisory services that entail flexibility, and the relationship with the customer which needs to be taken into consideration when delivering the financial reports. These three components are important but require different approaches when it comes to governing the organization. The conducted case study has shown that the accounting firms govern their organizations bureaucratically and mainly through behaviour and accounting controls. The advisory services demanded by customers are standardized, not analytical, and therefore do not require the firms to take flexibility into consideration.

This study is a first attempt to try to understand what the variables could be that make the person responsible for the grave sign up for grave gardening services by the church or to maintain the grave by him- or herself. There has been almost no research done within this subject. This study has been made by a qualitative research method and interviews have been performed with both persons responsible for the grave who have gardening services made by the church and with those who maintain the grave by themselves. The characteristics that are affecting consumer behaviour and the buyer decision process are presented in the theoretical part of this study. That is done so it can be seen if a comparison between the results of the study and the basic theoretical concept is possible, resulting in an understanding of how the costumers think and argue about this question.

Utvecklingen mot mångkulturella samhällen har inneburit en ökande förekomst av företeelser som främlingsfientlighet, diskriminering, rasism etc. I detta arbete försöker jag belysa skolans roll i motverkandet av dessa problem och undersöka på vilket sätt skolan är betydelsefull för det mångkulturella samhället, hur skolan häri övergripande skall arbeta och vilka problem skolan möter i detta arbete..

Den psykiska ohälsan bland unga kvinnor ökar i samhället idag.  Självskadebeteendet kan vara ett sätt för dem att lindra sin ångest. Tidigare forskning visar att sjuksköterskor upplever en vanmakt och osäkerhet inför denna patientgrupp. Syftet med denna studie är att, genom kvalitativ analys av fyra självbiografier, beskriva unga kvinnors upplevelser av självskadebeteende. Resultatet bygger på fyra huvudkategorier med vardera två subkategorier som illustreras och förtydligas med citat från författarna. Huvudkategorierna speglar fyra områden som har stor betydelse för utvecklingen av självskadebeteendet.

The aim of this two year master thesis is to analyze how digital preservation is presented as a problem in the Swedish national strategy for the digitization and digital preservation of the Swedish cultural heritage. In order to study which assumptions about digital preservation exists within the strategy I apply the discourse oriented methodological tools presented by Carol Lee Bacchi, which focuses on discerning what problem or, rather, representation of a problem exists within a specific policy. This study is a post-structuralist discourse analysis. The main focus of the study is on what assumptions and prerequisites the dominating representation of the problem is based upon and how the representation has evolved. The main material of the study consists of public investigations conducted by the Swedish state, governmental propositions and replies as well as other public documents upon which Bacci's methodological tools are applied.Results show that digital preservation is primarily interpreted as a financial problem as the national strategy and its surrounding documents stress the need of cost-efficient solutions.

In order to understand user behaviour and navigation patterns, user logging is today widely used in analysis and development of user interfaces. These user logs tend to be quite many and can contain a lot of different data. A big issue is how to process and display this data in a perspicuous way to the stakeholder. This study is about how to develop a prototype to handle this issue. It was solved by various methods from human-computer interaction.

År 2001 blev Kina en fullvärdig medlem i WTO vilket gjorde att Kinas näringsliv öppnades upp allt mer för utländska företag och investeringar, men den kinesiska staten vill inte helt släppa kontrollen över vissa strategiskt viktiga marknader. Beroende på bransch, verksamhet eller etableringsform är förutsättningarna olika. Det finns alltså många specifika faktorer och förhållanden som kan skapa möjligheter eller problem för företag som skall etablera sig i Kina. Syftet med den här studien är att synliggöra just de specifika möjligheter och problem som finns på den kinesiska marknaden och hur svenska företag som har valt att etablera sig i Kina upplever dessa..

Rapporten beskriver hur ett processavsnitt vid Smurfit Kappa Kraftliner i Piteå fungerar och hur reglerkretsarna i detta processavsnitt optimeras för att fungera så bra som möjligt. Optimeringen av kretsarna sker genom Lambdametoden och genom polkancellation. För kretsarna som är optimerade jämförs hur de fungerar före optimering mot hur de fungerar efter optimeringen. Processflödet för Stripper 2 är stabilare efter optimeringen. För Stripper 3 finns problem som inte kan lösas genom optimering av kretsarna.

The Pallas cat is a small cat living in central Asia. The cat is approximately the size of a domestic cat but the Pallas cat is more stocky build and has a much thicker fur that enables the cat to live in a climate with temperatures plummeting to -50°C. The thick fur is one of the reasons this cat has been a popular game for hunters in the past. Nowadays there are other threats to the Pallas cat. One of the major threats today is the reduction of food sources.
