The purpose of this study is to discover and explain the influences of media coverage of organizational crises on crisis communication, and vice versa. The study also shows how mediated crises develop, and how media framing and news sources affect this development.Carried out as a case study of three Swedish mediated crises, the methods used are quantitative and qualitative content analysis of media content from four Swedish newspapers and four organizations' press releases from the studied crises.Mediated crises develop through their specific pattern regardless of, but not independent from, the organizations' crisis communication. The crisis communication is used as an elite source in media reporting from the crises, but it can not control the mediated crises. However, it influences framing, and the possibilities to influence media reporting are better in the pre-crisis phase and the culmination..

The study is also to examine how the municipality communicates with its stakeholders in specific communication channels during a crisis.The case study makes use of theories circulating crisis communication, such as: theories of how crisis communication should be handled, how a crisis is recognized, the different phases of a crisis, the communication channels that can be used and who may be interested in an organization when a crisis reveals itself.

Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka hur kvinnor och män skildras i text. Genom att analysera ord som följer efter hans och hennes i en mängd texter bestående av nyhetsartiklar, insändare och skönlitterär text undersöks om och i så fall vilka skillnader som finns mellan hur kvinnor och män skildras i text. Genom att dela in orden i kategorier har det varit möjligt att studera och synliggöra mönster för hur de båda könen framställs. Uppsatsen har den kritiska diskursanalysen som teoretisk ram vilket möjliggör tolkning utifrån en större samhällelig nivå. Resultatet visar att kvinnor och män i jämförelse med tidigare forskning framställs som mer jämställda, men att påtagliga skillnader trots allt finns.

This study intends to use a text analysis and analyze Findus crisis communication, on their website, about the horse meat scandal in February and March 2013. The main focus is to examine if Findus crisis communication can be connected to Beniot?s image repair strategies and the rhetorical appeal forms, in five press releases and four blog posts, and also if they are different depending on the media format. The results show that Findus usually used three of the five image repair strategies and the three appeal forms (ethos, pathos and logos) interacted and therefore became Findus crisis communication consistent in all material. The intention of this thesis is to examine "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and its position and functions in the public sphere. Particularly interesting aspects are like the linking of private and public issues, the show's potential as a forum for debate and dissemination of knowledge, and what types of criticism the show has been subjected to. The methods used dealt with the textual aspects of the show. Semiotic analysis and conversation analysis were applied to five episodes and a search of literature was made. The thesis rests on theories concerning television studies and talk shows, in addition to theories on modernity and identity.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka hur svenska dagstidningarnas nyhetsvärdering påverkar vetenskapsbevakningen.I en kvantitativ studie jämförs antalet doktorsavhandlingar som läggs fram inom varje vetenskaplig disciplin med antalet som får genomslag i medierna.Resultatet visar att medicinska avhandlingar visserligen är de som genererar flest antal artiklar, men att det jämfört med forskningsfältets storlek ändå är förvånansvärt svårt för medicinska avhandlingar att tränga igenom mediebruset. Humaniora och samhällsvetenskap är istället de discipliner som relativt sett är bäst representerade i medierna medan naturvetenskap och teknik hamnar långt efter.En sammanställning av artiklarnas publiceringsplats visar också att nya avhandlingar inom medicin konsekvent klassas som nyheter eller feature medan humaniora klassas som kultur.I den efterföljande kvalitativa studien undersöks tre specifika avhandlingar inom medicin, litteraturvetenskap och juridik som alla figurerat stort i dagspressen.Genom intervjuer med de inblandade parterna kartläggs hela processen, från det att avhandlingarna färdigställs tills de uppmärksammas i medierna.Förutom att alla tre behandlar ämnen som i någon mån är uppseendeväckande visar sig mellanhanden, en nyckelperson som överbryggar klyftan mellan forskaren och medierna, vara en viktig gemensam faktor..

Resume: Mitt ämne var kriminaljournalistikens behandling av de två fallen Hurvamorden och Lasermannen, mer specifikt om det ena fallet behandlades på ett mer sensationalistiskt sätt än det andra. Arbetshypotesen var att täckningen av Lasermannen skulle visa sig vara mer sensationalistisk än täckningen av Hurvamorden, eftersom den generella trenden går åt det hållet. Jag valde ut fyra tidningar som jag tyckte representerade ett acceptabelt tvärsnitt av svenska pressmedier, och läste de artiklar som behandlade de två fallen i de fyra tidningarna. På så sätt försökte jag hitta mönster som gick igen både inom tidningarna och inom varje tidsperiod. Jag studerade bland annat språkbruk, val av detaljer, bruket av namn som "lasermannen" och rubrikval.

Abstract"The war on terror" has resulted in numerous exceptions from the constitutional order. This thesis is an attempt to give empirical support to Georgio Agambens theory that these exceptions should be regarded as a constant element in modern societies based on a constitutional order. The results of the case study of the empirical exceptions in the American context give Agambens theory validity. The exception is a reappearing phenomenon, which implies that the constitutional order is fragile. What then is it that makes the legal norms fragile? In this thesis I will discuss the causality of moral panic.
