This aim of this thesis is to measure the effect of the user interface in real searches on the Internet through a small experiment. Theories on web and search usability and psychological factors concerning usability were first explored. Then three interfaces were constructed, one "good" that followed usability guidelines and had multiple search functions, one "bad" that completely disobeyed those guidelines and had only a simple and small search field, and one "intermediate" interface that was a mix of the two. The search field was set to different sizes, with the shortest in the "bad" interface, a medium field in the "intermediate" interface and several long fields in the "good" interface. All three interfaces were then attached to the same web search engine, Altavista.

Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva betydelsen av studie- och yrkesvägledande aktiviteter med barn i åldrarna sju till tolv år. Kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med sex examinerade studie- och yrkesvägledare som bedriver studie- och yrkesvägledningsverksamhet med barn i grundskolans år 1-6 eller fungerar som stöd till pedagoger som arbetar med studie- och yrkesorienterande verksamhet med barn i dessa åldrar. Resultatet visade att intervjupersonerna anser att arbetet måste påbörjas tidigt, helst redan i grundskolans första år, för att målen så som de skrivs fram i de nationella styrdokumenten ska kunna uppnås. De förutsättningar intervjupersonerna menade krävs för att tidig vägledning ska kunna bedrivas är av såväl strukturell som av individuell art. Slutsatsen som drogs var att studie- och yrkesvägledande aktiviteter som påbörjas i grundskolans tidigare år och som följer elevernas kognitiva utveckling kan medverka till att eleverna ökar sina förutsättningar att göra väl underbyggda val i framtiden..

The thesis presented in this report has been made on behalf of Scania and their basic frame design department with the subject to solve an implementation of a weight sensing system in the chassis. The system is supposed to be implemented in the seat springs, and the reason for this is that all the force will have to go through the weight sensing transducers. With all the force going through the transducers the weight sensing system will not be sensitive for the differences in tolerances from manufacturing. The transducers could be pre-calibrated to avoid a calibration of the whole vehicle after it?s completed from the manufacturing line.Weight sensing systems is today a reality in trucks with air springs.

Syfte: att sammanställa vad som finns publicerat om digital avtrycksteknik och jämföra denna teknik med konventionell avtrycksteknik för fast kron- och broprotetik och på så sätt underlätta för operatörer att välja metod. Material och metod: litteratursökningar gjordes via Pubmed, Science Direct och genom handsökning i International Journal of Computerized Dentistry och Quintessence International. Informationssökningar gjordes även via fabrikörernas hemsidor och i litteratur vid Malmö Högskolas Odontologiska bibliotek. Resultat: det finns ett fåtal publikationer, varav de flesta är in vitro studier. De gav underlag för en jämförande diskussion av följande punkter: tidseffektivitet och användarvänlighet, precision och passform, kostnad, miljövänlighet samt patientvänlighet. Konklusion: denna litteraturstudie visar att på grundval av de publikationer som finns idag så fungerar den digitala avtryckstekniken tillfredsställande och fullt jämförbart med konventionell teknik för fast kron- och broprotetik. Det finns idag vissa belägg för att digitala tekniker kan ersätta den konventionella vad gäller precision. Det bör dock påpekas att de studier som finns tillgängliga idag är in vitro och dessa behöver kompletteras med och verifieras genom kliniska studier..

Bakgrund. En gyllene standard för att bestämma noggrannheten för intraorala scannrar existerar inte. Intraorala scannrars prestanda som ges av olika leverantörer är inte fullt jämförbara. Det finns ett behov att standardisera och ta fram oberoende försöksupplägg för att kunna jämföra intraorala scannrar. Mål. Målet med studien var att beskriva och utvärdera en ny metod för att bestämma noggrannheten av intraorala scannrar genom ett standardiserat in vitro testförsök och att använda metoden för att beräkna noggrannheten på en kommersiell intraoral scanner. Material och metod.

Automatic query expansion has long been studied in information retrieval research as a technique that deals with the fundamental issue of word mismatch between query and document. The purpose of this thesis is to compare the retrieval effectiveness of different strategies for automatic query expansion. The strategies are based on local analysis of the corpus and use statistical information from the local document set to extract terms that suppose to adapt themselves to each individual search and therefore appear to be searchonyms to the index terms. The strategies compared are: association clusters, metric cluster and scalar cluster. Baseline queries of 24 topics are expanded using terms from the different clusters and searches are made.

This thesis examines the retrieval effectiveness of two Web search engines. The two search engines are chosen to represent two different types Google as a broad general search engine and Dogpile as a broad general metasearcher. Twenty queries have been used and the first twenty hits for each query were evaluated for relevance. The queries were invented by the authors, based upon their interests and information needs. They were expressed in a general manner, by using one or several keywords, in accordance with the simple search mode available for each search engine.

In this essay, a search strategy for citation index is studied. The strategy, which is essentially a citation cycle, starts with documents retrieved by a subject search, wherefrom new documents are identified following the network of citations backwards and forwards in time. Based on the theory of polyrepresentation, the strategy exploits overlaps between cognitively different interpretations of the same documents in order to automatically select references seed documents used as a starting point for the forward chaining. The purpose of the investigation is to evaluate the retrieval effectiveness of the search strategy and to find out whether the strategy can be used to expand a subject search with the help of the network of references in order to retrieve new relevant documents. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vägledningssamtalet och vägledares yrkesroll på högskolan. Undersökningen utgår från rollteorier som genomgående ställs mot det empiriska materialet där vägledarrollen på olika sätt kommer in. Studien tydliggör även begreppet projekt som beskriver hur ett vägledningssamtal kan analyserar beroende på vilka förväntningar och syften de olika deltagarna i samtalet har. Metoden som har använts är kvalitativ och studien utgår ifrån sammanlagt sex informanter, varav fyra med vägledningssökande och två med vägledare. Studien visar på att samtliga vägledningssökande har rollförväntningar som till stor del handlar om att få information, och det är just informationsbiten som de ser som viktigast när det handlar om vägledningssamtalen. Båda vägledarna berättar även att de huvudsakligen arbetar med just informationsbiten.

Modern missiles must meet higher and higher demands. They should be autonomous, have long range and still have a big effect on the target. To maximize effect on target some missiles not only minimize miss distance, but also try to hit with a certain angle; often perpendicular to the surface of the target. In this thesis a method to guide the missile in the terminal phase of its mission where both point of impact as angle of impact are specified. The method consist of two parts.

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att kartlägga hur studie- och yrkesväglednings-situationen ser ut för intagna på kriminalvårdens anstalter, samt synliggöra hur studie- och yrkesvägledningen kan utvecklas för att tillgodose intagnas vägledningsbehov inom om-rådet rehabilitering. Ytterligare ett syfte med arbetet är att bidra med ny kunskap då vi inte finner tidigare nationell forskning inom området. För att kunna undersöka detta har vi valt en kvalitativ metod där vi har intervjuat befattningshavare och intagna. Resultatet visar hur studie- och yrkesvägledningen är orga-niserad på kriminalvårdens anstalter och vi har funnit gemensamma syften för studie- och yrkesvägledning, rehabilitering och kriminalvårdens rehabilitering. Utifrån resultatet ansågs studie- och yrkesvägledning som en naturlig del av kriminalvårdens rehabilitering. Resultatet pekar även på att existerande studie- och yrkesvägledning inte uppfyllde de in-tagnas behov.

In information retrieval there is a problem with ambiguous words. To solve this problem word sense disambiguation WSD is used. Few studies combining information retrieval and word sense disambiguation have been conducted with Swedish words. The purpose of this thesis has been divided in two. The first purpose was to examine Swedish information retrieval and disambiguation in the query phase.

Students? experience of stress is generally considered to be an isolated problem, caused by school work. Students? experience of stress at school can also be affected by exterior influences.This research aims to discover what factors Swedish students, age 13 ? 16, experience as stressful. It also aims to describe how students believe this stress can be reduced.

Schizophrenia can cause symptoms such as auditory hallucinations, delusions, emotional blunting, apathy and lack of motivation. These result in a diminished ability to participate in daily activities and bring the client group into the domain of occupational therapists. The purpose of this literature review is to compile the latest findings in occupational therapy interventions for individuals with schizophrenia. Furthermore guidance regarding the utility of the interventions will be given based on the author?s assessment of the evidence in the 22 articles included.

The Swedish teacher education is continuously changing along with the understanding of learning. The teacher education at Södertörn University has an intercultural profile, which is considered modern and innovative. In this essay, students? experiences from their practical training are analyzed to examine the correspondence between teacher practice and the modern teacher role conveyed by the University. The results show that some students have experienced practical training where the standards of the University?s teacher role were met, whereas others feel that they have not received the practical guidance needed to be able to wholly use their education in their future employment.
