Våra kyrkor är en viktig del av samhället, och är en kulturskatt som måste vårdas. Kyrkorna använder dock väldigt mycket energi till uppvärmning varje år. Detta beror på att de flesta av dem är gamla och att energieffektivitet ej varit en prioriterad fråga i deras verksamhet. Grinstad kyrka är en kyrka med hög energianvändning som trots att den endast är uppvärmd vid förrättningar använder lika mycket energi som två medelvillor. Kyrkan är från 1200-talet, är byggd i tegel och värms idag upp av en oljepanna i ett vattenburet system samt några elradiatorer.

Modern sawmills are using the raw-material and the production-capacity more efficiently today, due to rising raw-material prices and higher production costs. Log sweepness has a negative effect on the sawn yield, for sawmills with straight-sawing. It is desirable that these logs could be sorted based on more criteria, if it increases value-yield and consequently the utilization of raw-material. Bow-heights over 1 cm have a negative effect on sawn yield, since the surface of the mantle cuts down in the sawn pattern. Some of these small bow-heights reduce the logs yield of value which affects the production planning negatively. Nearly half of all the Swedish logs have a bow-height over 1 cm.

Glulam?s position at the Swedish market for building constructions has been established over the past decades. Factors affecting glulam demand are found both in global and national contexts as well in customer attitudes and knowledge of the material. Arguments for environmentally friendly and sustainable construction processes and energy-efficient designs are nowadays common, which is something that should motivate increased usage of wood as a renewable material. For the glulam industry to increase its sales, improve profitability and thereby gain market share in present competitive climate, reliable market information and updated market intelligence is required.

På senare tid har konkurrensen inom den trämekaniska industrin blivit allt hårdare. Företagen i branschen har tvingats effektivisera sitt arbete och många specialiserar sig på enstaka produkter.

As a result of increased energy prices more and more energy-efficient homes are coveted. An energy-efficient alternative is passive houses, which is characterized by an extremely well insulated building envelope that recovers the heat without the use of radiators or under floor heating. But a passive house requires a higher investment cost than a conventional building project, since it will require more construction materials, training of construction workers, greater land area, and long construction period. But the lower operating cost expects to pay back the higher cost of investment. We therefore question how profitable a passive house is in relation to houses built according to modern conventional building techniques.The aim of our study is to investigate the viability of passive houses compared to convent­ional houses.

Genom den rådande utvecklingen inom svensk rundvirkeförsörjning, som går mot större och färre produktionsanläggningar, blir medeltransportavståndet allt längre. Detta ökar behovet av järnvägstransporter av virke och förändrar därmed de andelar som bil- och järnvägstransporter utgör av den totala virkesförsörjningen. Ytterligare påverkan på transportval åstadkoms av varierande järnvägsnät och industriplacering i förhållande till detta. Syftet med denna studie var att utveckla en simuleringsmodell för att kartlägga effekterna av systemkonfiguration och omvärldsfaktorer på leveransprecision, lagernivåer och ledtider i massavedsförsörjning. Metoden som användes var objektorienterad händelsestyrd simulering i kombination med linjärprogrammering. Styrningslogiken som användes baserades på systemstatus och tog beslut om allokering av transportresurser genom justerad schemaläggning av tåg, anpassningar i biltransporternas totala kapacitet samt omstyrning av flöden mellan industrier. Två system användes, baserade på järnvägens struktur för norra respektive södra Sverige.

In connection with the property crises in many countries, caused by the financial crises, people are now more aware of the risks involved in poor property-investments. The unusually cold winters along with extreme prices of electricity in Sweden in recent years has also contributed to increased interest in energy-efficient buildings.The process of developing a modern family home in Kiruna, Sweden is presented the first part of this paper. The house has been designed to withstand very high stresses from snow, low energy consumption as well as a high standard of living comfort. Aspects of the house covered here involves everything from construction, heating and ventilation to sanitation. Each of these areas is presented based on their underlying, scientific methods or theories.

The community Vessigebro, in Falkenberg and its surrounding areas housing one percent of all dairy cattle and two percent of all pigs in Sweden. This means that there is a large amount of manure as a basis for producing biogas in the area. A number of farmers have therefore formed a cooperative named Vessigebro biogas and started the project Green Vessigebro, with the goal of creating the conditions for a more profitable and more sustainable agriculture production.The study deals with the conditions and sale opportunities of the feasibility study Green Vessigebro. The study has looked at the work that was previously carried out for the biogas that could be produced on the farms in Vessigebro, The main pipeline for natural gas on the Swedish west coast and its operators, the Swedish Competition Act , Electricity Act , Natural Gas Act, the District Heating Act , Sustainability Act , previously proposed measures, municipality interest in biogas from Vessigebro , possible collaborations, possible sale opportunities and perform calculations with data from the municipality Ljungby for a suggested transportation of biogas between Vessigebro and Ljungby.The study shows that there are several interesting sale opportunities for biogas from Vessigebro. The production and use of biogas in Sweden is increasing and the trend seems set to continue.

AbstractElectricity consumption is a globally increasing problem caused by the high share of electricity produced in coal power plants. These contribute to high carbon emissions when only about 1/3 of the heat generate electricity and the remaining 2/3 of the heat cools off. Combined heat and power plants (CHP) have high efficiency because they use the residual heat for domestic heating. The CHP plant often use fuels from renewable resources, giving them a lower carbon footprint, but are also depending on the heat demand. If electric powered products such as drying cabinets convert to heat powered products more environmentally friendly electricity will be produced by CHP plants, which can supplant electricity, produced from coal power plants and reduce carbon emissions.

BIOGAS POTENTIAL IN GRASSES FROM WETLANDSMarvin MartinsThe purpose of this study has been to survey wetlands that are suitable for mowing and to analyze the biogas potential in the harvested grasses. A preformed investigation showed that there are suitable wetlands, which can be harvestable, namely those mowed formerly in traditional haymaking. The practice of traditional haymaking is dying out in Sweden today but there are several good reasons why it should to be reconsidered. Nature- and cultural values are obvious, also the unutilized energy in the grass.The suitable types of wetland that were specifically studied were the productive wetlands; meadow marshes and wet meadows. These wetlands are represented in the Swedish meadow- and pasture inventory database; (TUVA) and the Swedish national wetland inventory (VMI).

I slutet av 1900-talet började man inse konsekvenserna av att förlita sig på icke förnyelsebara energikällor för uppvärmning. Priserna steg i höjden och man valde ofta att byta ut sin oljepanna mot el vilket för tillfället var en lönsam lösning. I och med prisstegringen som skett det senaste decenniet har betydelsen av energieffektivt byggande framstått som allt mer tydlig. Detta innebär att många äldre byggnader ofta kan ha mycket dåliga värmeisolerade egenskaper eftersom både energipriser och byggnormer var lågt ställda vid tiden för uppförning.Uppdragsgivarna till arbetet är en ideell ekonomisk förening vid namn Not Quite med sin bas i Fengerfors bruk, Åmål. De har framfört att de har problem med för höga uppvärmningskostnader och svårigheter med att hålla önskad inneluftstemperatur i deras lokaler.

De rådande förhållandena ställer höga krav på sågverksföretagen och för överlevnad krävs ekonomisk uthållighet, effektiv produktion och hög grad av kostnadsmedvetenhet. Latent heat storage is a way to store thermal energy when a phase change material undergoes a phase change. The advantage of latent heat storage is the capability to store more energy per mass unit than other heat storage methods. The most commonly used phase change in latent heat storage is the transition between solid and liquid. Phase change materials can be divided into organics, inorganics and eutectics.In the Nordic electricity market the price of electricity is set every hour by Nordpool spot, which leads to price fluctuations because of changes in demand. The main goal of this report is to create a latent heat storage system in a single-family home and investigate the possibility to save money by charging the latent heat storage system when the price of electricity is low, and discharge when the price is high.The thermodynamic model consisted of a ?tube-in-tube? heat exchanger with phase change material in the outer tube and water as the heat transfer fluid in the inner tube.

WSP Construction Design is one of the leading departments in Sweden in construction solutions regarding everything from building construction to industrial building. Great competencies regarding steel, wood and concrete constructions are available within the department which is well sought.Crane girders used in the industry are exposed to large loads that vary over time that includes instantaneous lifts and the crane girders movement which lead to the phenomenon fatigue in the crane girder and its ingoing welds. A control of fatigue needs to be performed after a certain lifespan measured in time which in turn is converted to a number of loadcycles. When the number of loadcycles amounts to a greater number the input welds resistance will have been reduced and the rate of utilization thereby increased.
