The reason behind this essay has been to study if previous research is relevant for Jehovah?s Witnesses in Sweden and see if secularization has affected the organization or not. The empirical material is made from two qualitative group- interviews and open observations during two meetings in the Kingdom Hall. These studies were performed in Oskarshamn and Mönsterås during the month of February. Detta arbete handlar om varför utbytesstudenter som kommer till Luleå tekniska universitet har valt att studera just där samt hur de upplever sin situation vad gäller studiesituation, socialt liv, traditioner, fritid och personlig utveckling. Föreligger det skillnader med avseende på kön, civilstånd, nationalitet samt hur lång tid de vistats i Luleå? En enkät på engelska skickades ut via e-post samt utdelades i ett klassrum. Resultaten visade att det var främst motiv som kan förknippas med inre motivation som var av betydelse för att studera i Sverige och Luleå. The aim of my study is to investigate if and in that case how the writing process and texts written by students in the upper secondary school are affected by the writing tool; does it matter if they write their texts on a computer or by longhand? Another objective is to compare such an effect with the findings of previous studies performed on earlier generations of writers. The first part of my study was a survey. It showed that two thirds of the 67 students participating thought that they would have written better texts in the national writing test if they had been able to use computers. In the second part of the study each of the fourteen participants wrote one text on computer and another by hand.

Detta är en enkätstudie av skolors miljöarbete, det vill säga hur skolorna arbetar med och påverkar den yttre miljön. Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka ett antal skolors yttre miljöarbete, men även de miljömål skolan har för att värna om vår miljö. Resultatet av denna studie är att skolors miljöarbete är alltför knappt, vilket också tidigare forskning visat. På grundval av att resultatet i enkätstudien visade på ett nästintill obefintligt miljöarbete på skolorna samt att de inkomna svaren blev färre än beräknat, så har ett förslag arbetats fram tillsammans med en miljöutvecklare för hur skolor kan arbeta med miljön. Detta för att miljöarbetet skall bli en naturlig del såväl i undervisningen som i skolans övergripande arbete.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate if pulsed inhaled nitric oxide (PiNO) could be used as a treatment for hypoxemia during general anaesthesia in colic horses. Previous studies have shown a positive response in horses receiving PiNO in comparison to controls, but these studies have only included healthy individuals. A total of 30 horses were included in this present study, they all underwent abdominal surgery because of acute colic that could not be medically treated. Fifteen of the horses received PiNO and 15 horses served as a control group. Arterial oxygenation was improved in all horses receiving PiNO.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how genealogists create identity through their own research, and how they live with their ancestors in the everyday life. The questions at issue are: How do genealogists deal with concepts like ?native home district?, ?heritage? and ?family?. Does it exist a problem in creating identity and how genealogists regard other people with a different background, for instance immigrants. This thesis consists of three parts: in the first I present my aim, questions at issue, my method with qualitative interviews, and my theoretical frame from sociology and anthropology.

Due to the decrease in obtaining driver?s licenses among young people, the main purpose of this study was to acquire a deeper understanding of young people?s attitudes towards driver?s license and towards driver?s education. This is a qualitative study with a theoretical approach, which combines Bourdieu with post modern theories. By using focus groups a wide rage of attitudes among young people have been gathered. Having a driver?s license is still considered a standard among young people even though their attitude mostly depends on their need for one.

The tomato is an important crop worldwide, and in recent years it has received great attention due to its rich content of carotenoids, which in studies indicate to have health benefiting properties. Many studies have been done in this area of research and in how to optimize the carotenoid content in tomatoes and tomato products. This is a study about a company in Norrköping, called Stadium AB, and its first steps into the global market. We have studied how the conditions of the company have changed during their expansion. This study is not written from the viewpoint of business economics, it is rather a study from a cultural and social studies perspective. The study deals with subjects such as the globalization of society, organizational theories and leadership. The empiric material consists of Stadium?s staff magazine Tracks, the company?s swedish homepage on the Internet and an interview with Sussi Calås-Jonsson, Chief of the Department of Information at Stadium AB.
