Demokratins avgränsningsproblem : En kritik av det kosmopolitiska demokratiidealet

The aim of this paper is to examine whether the theory of cosmopolitan democracy provides a satisfactory solution to the boundary problem in democratic theory. I argue that David Held's version of cosmopolitan democracy rests on two incompatibleprinciples: the all-affected principle and the all-inclusive principle. However, the theory does not need to presuppose both these principles; it requires only one of them.Furthermore, I try to show that both of these principles fail to provide an adequate solution to the boundary problem. The all-inclusive principle suggests that all citizens of the world should be included in a global democratic unit. I argue that such an ideal is not desirable since it conflicts with the principle of subsidiarity and withdraws from regional political communities their sovereignty.

I uppsatsen har vi valt att undersöka hur undersköterskor på en intensivvårdsavdelning uppfattar delaktighet samt hur de ser på sin egen delaktighet. Metod: Aktionsforskning där ett problem diagnostiserades. Aktionen blev dels de kvalitativa gruppintervjuerna samt aktion inom organisationen som var baserat på resultatet. Detta kommer att utvärderas.

Intensivvårdssjuksköterskans upplevelser och hantering av arbetsrelaterad stress

Bakgrund: Intensivvårdsavdelningar, IVA, karaktäriseras av en hög nivå av arbetsrelaterad stress. Intensivvårdssjuksköterskan förväntas utföra flera helt olika uppgifter samtidigt, till exempel att intensivövervaka en patient och parallellt bemöta känslomässiga reaktioner i samband med sjukdom. En hög nivå av arbetsrelaterad stress kan ge negativa effekter på det psykiska och fysiska välbefinnandet.Syfte: Syftet är att undersöka vad intensivvårdssjuksköterskor i Sverige upplever som stressande i arbetet, hur de hanterar dessa stressorer samt hur de påverkar privatlivet.Metod: Studien kommer genomföras med en kvalitativ ansats i form av intervjuer. En pilotstudie om två intervjuer genomfördes och texten analyserades och kategoriserades med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.Resultat: Tre teman framträdde ur texten: inte räcka till, söka en balans och svårt att koppla av. Kategorier under temat inte räcka till var: högt tempo på arbetsplatsen, ensamhet när kommunikation och samarbete brister samt att känna sig otillräcklig i arbetet.

Äldreomsorgen och de sju små doktrinerna: En empirisk studie av New Public Management-reformer inom svensk äldreomsorg

The purpose of this paper is to perform an in-depth analysis of how New Public Management reforms have impacted management practises in two publicly financed elderly care providers in Sweden. The paper studies one public and one private elderly care provider and analyses to what extent they have implemented New Public Management methods. The results are based on interviews with several persons within the two organisations and analysed using the seven New Public Management doctrines as described by Christopher Hood (1991; 1995). The major finding in the thesis is that the level of exposure towards New Public Management reforms differs between the two studied organisations where the private provider is exposed to the reforms to a greater extent than the public. The paper concludes that the main reasons for the low extent of exposure in the public provider could be attributed to the lack of measurable standards performance as well as the proximity to the political leadership..

This essay is about the asylum and immigration politics within the EU. Due to the heavy criticism the EU has been exposed to from among others different kind of human rights organizations I have become interested to find out what kind of asylum and migration politics right now is being formed by the member states of the union. Thus the purpose is also to see if the EU is creating a policy within this area that intends to live up to the human rights obligations.My overall research question is:Which ideas characterize the asylum and immigration politics within the EU?The theoretical perspectives of universalism and particularism are used as two analytical tools in order to understand the phenomenon I am investigating and to identify its characterizing ideas. In my essay universalism and particularism are used as opposite ideal types.

Due to the dependency regarding the resource of knowledge among the firms employees and to the fact that they often are categorised as a type of professional service firm. The purpose of this study is to investigate the different types of profitsharingsystems as a form of reward with focus on the theoretical differences and effects of the True Partnershipmodel and the Stockholmmodel. In addition to these models we will look into the Human Resource processes of; recruiting, integration, retaining and development of employees. The main purpose of the study is to examine the theoretical level on how the profitsharingsystems effect different Human Resource processes and through the knowledge of these connections using this as an analogy when to analyse other law-firms and knowledge?intensive company?s.

Bakgrund: Våld beskrivs som såväl fysiskt som verbalt våld men även som hot om våld. Det finns ingen entydig definition utan det är en individuell upplevelse. Vårdsektorn är en av de mest utsatta arbetsplatserna för våld och patienten är oftast den som utför våldshandlingen. Det finns flera orsaker till att patienter kan bli våldsamma. Det finns ett mörkertal i rapporteringen av våldshändelser.

Kalkyler i vården: en översikt och ett praktikfall

This thesis investigates management accounting systems in a Swedish health care environment. Through a qualitative case study of an activity-based cost accounting system that was introduced in 1994 at S:t Görans Sjukhus, a large Stockholm hospital, the following questions are addressed: What benefits can an activity-based cost accounting system offer the Swedish health care providers? What are the potential problems impeding the implementation of such a system? Main findings: an activity-based cost accounting system can improve the understanding of where costs are generated in the production processes. Comparisons between alternative production processes are improved, and the data may serve as a basis for internal pricing measures. Concerning the second question, difficulty in reconciliating the principles of economic control with the culture present in a hospital is identified as the main obstacle to a new management accounting system..

When the population is getting older, the need for complex care and nursing interventions in elderly care increases. To create a holistic view of the elder and their life situation, interprofessional team collaboration is often desirable and necessary. Teamwork is often described in positive terms, but previous research has shown that this work method is complicated and requires constant reflection and development. The purpose of this study was to investigate how elderly care teamwork is formed in the interaction between representatives of different professionals. To accomplish this purpose, we have studied how the team members define a well-functioning teamwork and difficulties, and how consensus is achieved in the team.

Min kompetens är viktig! : En kvalitativ studie om specialistsjuksköterskans kompetens inom onkologisk vård

Background:An increasing number of patients with an oncology diagnose will be seen in the future. The oncology care is complex and in great need of nurses with a high level of competence. There is a lack of previous research in the specialist oncology nurses competence and therefore knowledge of their skills can reveal an understanding of their competence.Aim:The aim of the study was to describe the competence of the specialist oncology nurse.Method:Four oncology nurses and two directors of oncology care were interviewed. The interview text was analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Results:The result showed that the oncology nurses had developed six different competences within different areas. These competence areas were assertiveness, patient-centered care, ethical and moral-, pedagogical-, to lead and develop- and theoretical competence.
