Today, we live in a consumption society. We buy products to soothe our needs and desires. Thru material things we can express our own personal identity and shopping is seen more as a pleasure than a need to survive. With the background media- and communication studies, the reason of this study was to explore how blogs as a social medium can influence the consumption ideal in society. With dialogical analysis and semiotic analysis we wanted to see if we could find a specific consumption culture in the content of six blogs we did our studies on. We found that the blogs showed us that there is normal to have everyday luxury and spoil oneself with expensive things.

This thesis examines the European Union's sanctions policy regarding human rights and interdependence. Previous research has discussed whether sanctions are effective or result in desirable outcomes. This paper aims to take a step back and understand motives by analyzing consistency in the EU?s decisions to impose sanctions. The question is relevant because formal justification can be used to cloak actual motives, and by examining actual decisions, the analyses shed light on motives.

My master?s thesis is a study of acquisition of photographies during 1958-2008. The questions I proceed from is what patterns lies behind the Royal library's acquisition of photography and how the process of acquisition looks like. The theoretical base which I lean on consists partly of a problematization of the process of cultural heritage and partly of organizational theory. The problematization of the process of cultural heritage is my foundation of this essay.

This bachelor thesis investigates the discourses on violence among pupils in a school environment. The overall aim is to gain knowledge on how it is researched, interpreted and understood. The methods employed are genealogical analysis, discourse analysis and intersectional analysis. The analyzed texts consist of research reports, articles, dissertations and government authority guidelines. The theoretical framework drawn upon is post modernistic theory, social constructivism and intersectional theory.

Syftet för den här undersökningen är att försöka se och belysa vad som utmärker verksamheten i en barngrupp på en mångkulturell förskola. Detta syfte har delats in i tre frågeställningar-     Vad har pedagogerna för pedagogiska tankar kring sin verksamhet?-     Hur arbetar pedagogerna med språk?-     Hur ser samarbetet mellan förskola och hem ut?Undersökningsmetoden för arbetet har varit kvalitativa intervjuer med fem pedagoger som arbetar med mångkulturella barngrupper.Resultaten jag har fått fram kring vad som utmärker sig under de olika frågeställningsrubrikerna visar att pedagogerna menar att de;-     arbetar mer konkret än i icke mångkulturella förskolor, och att de försöker vara mer närvarande i barnens lek, för att hjälpa barnen med sin tvåspråkighet;-     upplever att personal med annat modersmål än svenska är en stor tillgång i verksamheten, likväl som resursen modersmålspedagog, som finns i de rektorsområden jag gjort min undersökning i. De uppger även att de uppmuntrar barnen att använda olika språk i förskolan;-     tycker att samarbetet mellan förskolan och föräldrarna fungerar bra, och att föräldrarna är delaktiga i verksamheten. De poängterar även att kontakten med föräldrarna är viktig, och att man måste vara tydlig, då det kan vara språkförbistringar..

This Bachelor Thesis looks at the cooperation between the Swedish civil society and theEuropean Union (EU), and it aims at evaluating Swedish civil society organizations' influencewithin the EU's development work on policy level. It focuses primarily on eight civil societyorganizations, and it is based on empirical material collected in Stockholm and Gothenburg,Sweden. The material has been analyzed using three theoretical frameworks. The firstdetermines whether the structure of the EU allows bottom-up influence, the second looks atthe communication between the EU and civil society organizations, and the third assesseswhether the civil society has the ability to influence the political agenda within the EU?sdevelopment work.Conclusions of the thesis include determining the complex structure of the EU as a mainobstacle to influencing the EU's development work.

When migration to a country increases, the integration of the migrants becomes extra important for the host country?s society, economy and culture. In the last decade, Europe has faced several crises, such as the refugee crisis and the covid-19 pandemic, which has affected both migration and integration policy. The challenges that have characterized European society in recent years makes it interesting to study how the measures highlighted by the European Commission to integrate migrants has developed. Therefore, the paper aims to compare the Commission?s action plans for integration published in 2016 and 2020 based on the threat theory and the contact theory to see how both perspectives can contribute to understanding the differences between the years and which theory is best suited to understand the Commission?s current visions of integration.

The purpose with this study is to investigate how the two biggest political parties, the Social Democrats and the Moderate/Conservative Party, looks at a membership in the defense alliance North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The question have the illegal annexation of Crimea affected how the parties look at a membership in Nato will be answered and analyzed. How they discuss, how they believe that a membership can affect the Swedish foreign policy will be examined in this paper. Nato is a topic that during the last century?s have divided the Swedish population into two groups: one that advocates a membership and one that fight?s against a Swedish membership in the alliance. The debate about Nato has, since the illegal annexation of the Crimea, changed and are now more relevant than ever to discuss.

Processes difficult for an individual to distinguish and understand surround political decision-making. The purpose of this study is to investigate the decision process for a specific political issue, Swedish wine producers' desire to be able to sell their own wine at their vineyard; gårdsförsäljning. This is currently prohibited in the Swedish model due to an alcohol monopoly.

The purpose of this study is to examine web-based recruitment to short term summer jobs at the SocialServices Department in Luleå municipality in Sweden. Recruitment goals, selection options on therecruitment homepage Offentliga Jobb and recruitment practices were analysed in order to reach a deeperunderstanding of the interactions between these three levels in the selection process. Pre-selection throughOffentliga Jobb was a special concern of the study. Different consciousness levels in the selection process areemphasised according to Anthony Giddens' structuration theory. Ten recruiters from different parts of thedepartment were interviewed.

År 2002 utkom statsvetaren Staffan Anderssons avhandling Corruption in Sweden, i vilken han kartlägger korruptionen i Sverige och det officiella arbetet mot densamma. Sedan dess har en del ägt rum på den politiska och akademiska arenan inom området korruption, och denna uppsats utgör en komparativ uppföljning till Anderssons resultat.Vad gäller den officiella medvetenheten kring riskzoner för korruption har ingenting förändrats sedan 90-talet: det finns fortfarande ingen officiell svensk ståndpunkt i denna fråga. Det har heller inte skapat någon officiellt uttalad policy som reglerar arbetet mot korruption, däremot har det bildats en juridiskt operativ enhet (Riksenheten mot korruption, RMK), främst på initiativ från EU. Riksrevisionsverket (RRV) har även ombildats till den oberoende Riksrevisionen, vilket ger konstitutionellt skydd mot korruption.De legala förändringarna finns främst på det kommunala planet, men vi anser att det trots dessa förändringar fortfarande finns frågetecken kring den kommunala revisionens arbete, som kan anses politiskt och ekonomiskt beroende av kommunstyrelsen. Aggression between laboratory mice is a common problem and can result in welfare issues such as mice hurting or killing each other and also stress. Swedish laws and regulations clearly states that mice must be housed with a companion due to their natural social structure. Many studies have investigated the effect off enrichment, group size, cage size and other potential changes in in their environment on the occurrence of aggression. Even with these changes aggression can exist and therefore a new solution was tested in this paper. The proposed solution was to house an intact mouse with a castrated one and thus fulfill laws and regulations while still maintaining the physiology of one of the mice for the purpose of medical experiments.

This paper attempts to display how five teachers of social studies use and relate to the policy documents and their instructions on gender. To penetrate the subject, five teachers were intreviewed. Each interview focused on how the curriculum attempts to guide teachers regarding gender, sex differences and equality of opportunity. The collected information was processed, analyzed and discussed using gender studies and discourse theory.The results show that the interpretation and usage of the curriculum is very subjective and varies greatly between all the interviewed teachers. Their personal interpretation proves to be crucial when it comes to making reality of the stated goals in the curriculum, concerning actively working towards equality of opportunity between sexes.

Syftet med föreliggande systematiska litteraturstudie var att beskriva kvinnors behov av in-formation i samband med hysterektomi. Via Högskolan Dalarnas databas Elin och Blackwell Synergy söktes vetenskapliga fulltextartiklar som behandlade kvinnors informationsbehov vid livmoderoperation. Av 41 artiklar valdes 15 ut varav 8 kvantitativa och 7 kvalitativa. Dessa kvalitetsprövades med 28 kriterier från modifierade granskningsmallar efter Forsberg och Wengström (2003) samt Willman, Stoltz och Bahtsevani (2006). Av artikelurvalet framkom att kvinnorna saknade information om hysterektomi i allmänhet och i synnerhet om behand-lingsalternativ samt kvinnans gynekologiska hälsa och dessutom om post-operativ sexualitet.

The aim of this study is to investigate wether the participatory democracy is a threat or a complement to the representative democracy. To achieve my purpose I will focus on two different lokal councils, the civil council in Hovsjö and the youth council in Västra Skogås, which have been objects of the urban policy in 1998. The theoretical framework on which this study is based consists of the participation democratic theory, representative democratic theory and implementation theory. By problemizing these theoretical frameworks in comparison with eachother I will mapp how these two lokal councils were implemented. The research question is: In what way was the civil council and the youth council a complement or threat to the representative democracy? In which way was it difficult to implement them?The method used for this purpose is a qualitative comparative case study.
