Hidden away in the pristine landscape on the northeast shore of the Dominican Republic, the remote village of Miches is on the verge of shifting its economic resource base from traditional fishing into what could become an international model for sustainable tourism. The aim of this thesis was to produce a vision of a waterfront park near the center of the village; demonstrating concept-based landscape design that reflects the goals of sustainable development originating from the local incentive structure. A composite landscape analysis and design concept both served to inform and guide the design work, which was executed through model building, hand drawings, and production of a visual presentation in the format of an architectural competition entry. The design concept, All invited, signifies the distinction between the development that is about to take place in Miches and the otherwise common all-inclusive resorts, where tourists are set apart from the local community and spend most of their time within the fenced-off premises of the hotel. All invited also captures the typical Dominican hospitality, and mirrors the aspirations of turning Miches into a safe and welcoming place for visitors. The result is a public park design that is equally inviting local residents as it is to tourists, and where the unique qualities of the site are emphasized without being exploited.

Den befintliga parken får nytt liv genom att markplaneringen ändras och en stor transparent byggnad tillförs - Operan!Operan sträcker sig över hela landskapet där den formar en stor park med olika offentliga rum. Parken attraherar befolkningen till Operan genom sina rörelser som ger den rytm och leder dem till olika platser som byggnaden och landskapet erbjuder. Idén är att förena en park med en storslagen byggnad, utan att tappa den elegans och storhet som en opera identifieras med. Jag låter byggnaden sträcka ut sig där den kan nå alla hörn, uppmana befolkningen i närheten att våga sig fram till denna kulturens enorma rum och uppleva Operan- på, under och innanför..

Stadsodling och förtätning är två högst aktuella ämnen idag inom hållbar stadsutveckling som har fått och får allt mer uppmärksamhet inom politiken och olika medier på senaste. Dessa ämnen är nära kopplade till den gröna miljön och dess betydelse för människa och miljö och utgör bakgrund för arbetet. Syftet med arbetet är att ta fram ett gestaltningsförslag till en fickpark med odlingstema på en offentlig plats i stadsdelen Limhamn i Malmö. Som inspirationskälla används fruktlunden som svar på odlingstemat. Huvudfokus ligger på parkens utformning, vilka element och funktioner som fickparken bör innehålla och vilket växtmaterial som kan vara lämpligt. Arbetet grundar sig på litteraturstudier inom ovan nämnda bakgrundsområden.

Skötsel av våra parker och andra gröna miljöer utgör en stor kostnad. Syftet med studien var att ta fram förslag på olika praktiska lösningar för att minimera tiden och kostnaden för skötsel av offentliga gröna miljöer och utforma dessa som ett antal råd till designers. Metoden som användes var en kombination av en litteraturstudie, där sökorden ?skötsel?, ?parkförvaltning?, ?park management?, ?low maintenance?och ?low maintenance park/garden? användes, och en undersökning där sex personer intervjuades. Det är viktigt att tänka igenom vilket mål man har med den yta som skall skötas om.

Arbetsmarknaden i Silicon Valley karakteriseras av faktorer som hög personalomsättning, nätverkande och risktagande. Denna arbetsmarknad har vuxit fram på en begränsad geografisk yta och består idag ca 7 500 företag. Mjärdevi Science Park är en av de snabbast växande teknikparkerna i världen, varför vi anser att en jämförelse av de båda arbetsmarknaderna är intressant. Syftet är att med utgångspunkt från de faktorer som karakteriserar arbetsmarknaden i Silicon Valley, genomföra en jämförelse med arbetsmarknaden i Mjärdevi Science Park. Denna uppsats kommer inte att behandla vad det är som gör en teknikpark ekonomiskt framgångsrik.

But in what ways are they using Facebook as a tool to connect with their fans?This essay aims to answer the question if it?s a difference in the way English and Swedish teams communicate with their fans on Facebook. The study was conducted with the use of telephone- and mail interviews.

The estate of Rydboholm is situated in the municipality of Österåker, north of Stockholm, Sweden, and has a long history dating back to the 14th century. Rydboholm was the home of several families of great national importance, such as the Finsta and Vasa clans. However, since the 1500s, the noble family Brahe was the most influential; leaving its mark on the castle and surroundings. The gardens of Rydboholm consist of two parts; The first is from the baroque era, dating back to the 1660s, and the second is an immense landscape park completed around the year 1800 by Magnus Fredrik Brahe. During his travels through Europe, Magnus Fredrik Brahe was influenced by the new English-style gardens and he brought a large collection of literature on the subject back to Sweden, still kept in the library of Rydboholm.

Denna uppsats har som syfte att dels undersöka människors upplevelser av otrygghet i offentliga parker och dels undersöka vilka fysiska åtgärder som medborgarna upplever ökar trygghetskänslan. Men även att undersöka om, och i så fall vilka, fysiska åtgärder som presenteras i kommunala parkprogram. Utifrån arbetets forskningsöversikt presenteras de teoretiska perspektiven, upplevelsen av otrygghet och den offentliga parken. Genom de teoretiska perspektiven förstår man vad en plats är och hur människor upplever otrygghet. De visar att våra egna erfarenheter, visioner och förutfattade meningar påverkar användningen av platsen.

This paper constitutes graduate work at the Depart-ment of Urban and Rural Development at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. In this paper the urban structure of the million program suburb Husby in Stockholm is examined and what effect this structure has on social life in the area. The main objective of the study has been to, with the help of morphological analyses, examine how to create meeting places and make the Husby Park more accessiblefor the inhabitants in Husby. There has been a selection of analyses to ensure that Husby?s spatial relationship with surrounding suburbs as well as local spaces in the Husby Park is described.

The park at Svaneholm is a place, the history of which is very little known today and the needfor better knowledge has been the cause of this investigation. The essay is primarily limited tothe time from late 17th century up to the end of the 18th century and takes stand on profoundinvestigations in accessible map-and archive material. Summary The estate of Johannishus is situated in the south of Sweden and in the province of Blekinge, about 8 kilometres from the city of Ronneby. The main building together with the park represents the province´s only example of a well preserved estate environment from the early 1800th Century, and was declared as a historic monument in 1982 because of its unique role in the province. Johannishus Park has during 300 years developed in close relation to the main building, the landscape and the surrounding infrastructure. Each century and owner has had an influence on the park, which has resulted in an interesting visible cross-section of 300 years of Swedish garden history. Most noticeable today are the traces from late 19th Century, but in its oldest parts the park contains structures from the early 18th Century.

This is a feasibility study that examines various aspects of building a wind farm on Malmön in Norrköping. The feasibility study deals with interests of conflict, park design, electrical connections, production calculation, financial calculations and operating- and timetable.The report is divided into two distinct parts. First a theoretical part, which deals with conflicting interests, park design and electrical connections. Second a part with simulations dealing with production calculations, and financial calculations.Opposing interests are mapped so that problem areas can be found, and help put focus on the right places at a future environmental impact assessment (EIA). There are a number of areas where planners have to assess on an EIA, this thesis point on the most important areas.

A sensitive wetland, todayrather forgotten but with great potentialfor introducing wild nature as an active partof the city. Or rather, initiating a processwhere the built environment can infiltrateand enrich the natural environment gradually.A city park in this location to initiate thisprocess could be a joint project of the city?sresidents with the scope to become a projectin constant development.The idea of the project is to offer a large ecologicalpark and meeting place near the citycenter.
