Sverige har internationellt sett ett mycket gott anseende som ett demokratiskt och jämställt land. Större sociala och ekonomiska klyftor mellan folkgrupper är inte något man accepterar här och nästan lika stor del kvinnor som män har egen inkomst och yrkesarbetar. Till skillnad från många andra länder så har svenska kvinnor överlag högre utbildningar än svenska män.Men, det är snarare norm än undantag att mannen är den i vårt samhälle som tjänar mest och oftare innehar chefs- och ledarepositioner. Fler kvinnor arbetar deltid än män, och tre fjärdedelar av dem som arbetar som vikarier är kvinnor. När det gäller löneskillnader så är dessa störst på chefsnivå och genomgående så har kvinnor inte lika hög lön som män för samma arbete och endast 24 procent av landets chefer är kvinnor.

This essay discusses the problems with the high rate of long-term sickness leave among women in Sweden. It is based on interviews with six women suffering from stress-related illness. The results show that these women hardly ever recieved an explicit diagnosis and therefore did not feel that their illness was acknowledged. In the abscense of measurable symptoms they were sometimes stigmatisized and accused of simulating their problems. From this position they tried to legitimize their situation by presenting themselves as respectable women.

To reconstruct a building is a long-term investment for farmers and it is important that people with different qualifications are involved at an early stage for making the system adapted to the animals as well the animal keeper. Therefore, ethologists who can contribute with their expertise are needed to design the system and get it to function well for the animals.A Swedish farmer who planned to rebuild her stall for tied dairy cattle to a loose-housing system for recruitment heifers for milk production asked me as an ethologist to find a system which can be fit to her existing tie-stall barn for 30 dairy cows, considering the animal needs in terms of movement, social interactions and play behaviors, and to theoretically compare the system with other systems with respect to the behaviors mentioned.The theoretical comparison between different systems was made through a scientific literature review.In agreement with the animal keeper I set out to fit a system with feeding cubicles, a system with cubicles and a system with deep straw bedding to the barn. After measurements were taken and preliminary drawings were outlined it was found that only the feeding cubicle system was possible to fit to the barn.The space provided will limit the animals to perform some playing behaviors. To decrease aggressive interactions between animals even thought a limiting area it is possible to provide partitions between resources animals compete around to prevent that more than one animal can get success to the resource at a particular place at one time. To increase the animal movement in the system the water trays were moved to the outer wall instead of kept in contact with the stalls.Although this report provides guidelines for rebuilding, other competences regarding building construction and a pre-test of the suggested building solution according to Swedish legislation are needed before the rebuilding can start.The results are directed mainly to the owner of the barn, but the literature review can be used by other cattle farmers and might bring increased understanding of the possible effects of different building solution on the animals..

The Swedish early childhood system is considered among the best in the world, however, in spite of this, we feel that there exists a conflict between educators? and parents? expectations of ?a good preschool?. During our teacher education training we have observed many different preschools and almost in all of them we have listened to anecdotes about one or more conflicts arising between educators and parents and which we have been able to pinpoint toward differing expectations. After talking with a preschool director, who also perceives that expectations of the preschool aims sometimes differ, our idea brought us to conduct this investigation.In this study, we have investigated parents? expectations of preschool and compared them with educators? expectations.

The study contains interviews with eight landscape photographers, to find out how they look at tendencies and changes in photography. The essay focuses on the discussion of authenticity and realism in landscape photography. The main part of this work is focused on the era called ?The Folk Music Vogue?, which was the era when my informants were in the limelight on the Swedish fiddler scene of the 70s.Our music culture is constantly lying under the change of progress and I find it interesting to reflect how these kinds of changes are affecting the role of the musician.In this essay I am reflecting on the different perspectives of the musicianship according to my informants and how they both are referring to their role as musicians. The purpose is further on to see how they have been relating to the change of progress on the field of the Swedish folk music during the 70s and up to this date. Throughout interviews with the informants I am analyzing their personal relationship to their life as folk musicians.

In this paper I have examined how the structure of society affects the characters in the movies of Gus Van Sant, and what there is that characterizes Van Sant as an auteur. I have also looked at the thematics and how the characters develop throughout from his first movie Mala Noche (US 1985) until one of his latest Milk (US 2008). Van Sant is open with his Homosexuality and those perspectives are of major importance for this study. He presents how his characters try to live a normal life in a society that is not made for them. I have chosen to analyze five different movies.

Im Blickfeld meiner Masterarbeit steht die Frage, welche Rolle historische Erfahrungen und Erinnerungen in Migrationsprozessen einnehmen. Es geht dabei um deutsche Frauen, die in der Nachkriegszeit (1945-1960) nach Schweden auswanderten, um eine Stelle als Haushaltshilfe anzutreten und die in der deutsch-protestantischen St. Gertruds Gemeinde in Stockholm eine deutsche Gemeinschaft fanden.    In meiner Untersuchung stellt sich heraus, dass die St. Gertruds Gemeinde nach 1945 eine Blütezeit erlebte. Als folge des Zweiten Weltkrieges hatte die Gemeinde sowohl in Schweden als auch in Deutschland wichtige Aufgaben zu erfüllen.

Den här studien har fokus på hur man kan skapa fotorealistiska montage och hur digitaliseringen av fotografi har påverkat fotografiets position som sanningsvittne. Genom en teknisk undersökning har två montage skapats i syfte för att granska tillvägagångssätt i skapandet av fotomontage. Det resultatet visade är att det är möjligt att kombinera fotografier till ett montage, som kan upplevas som fotorealistiskt på ett sömlöst och enhetligt sätt. Med hjälp av tidigare forskning och den tekniska undersökningen drogs slutsatsen att skapandet av sömlösa montage inte är oöverkomligt och att det bara är fantasin som sätter gränser då ett montage kan jämföras med en tavla..

The Swedish Textile industry has since the beginning of the 70-ties moved their production to countries with cheap labour further and further away. The production in the Baltic countries and Asia has become reality for many Swedish manufacturing companies. With today?s technology the communication with remote countries has ceased to be a problem. The difficulties have instead turned out to be more focused on transportation of goods and just in time deliveries to Sweden.
