At Saab Aerosystems, situated in Linköping Sweden, there is a presentation and manoeuvre simulator simulating the fighter jet JAS-39 Gripen. This flight simulator is called PMSIM. In this thesis we study how to transfer sensor images generated by PMSIM to other simulators or desktop computers. The transmission is band-limited so some kind of image coding must be used. Because of this the greater part of this thesis is concerned with image coding.

Inbreeding, the mating of related individuals, has been the one dominating breeding strategy for dog breeders during the last 200 years. However, its negative effects on fer-tility and other fitness traits, a phenomenon called inbreeding depression, have been ignored in the quest of perfect unity in conformation or performance. The purpose of this study was to test the hypotheses that litter size is reduced as a consequence of in-breeding, affected by both the inbreeding coefficient of the dam and the litter and that a rapid increase in the inbreeding coefficient affects litter size more than a slower rate. Data were collected from the Swedish Kennel Club registry of origin. Breeds included in the study were the Bernese Mountain Dog, the Cocker Spaniel, the Golden Retriever, the Rottweiler and the West Highland White Terrier.

The goal and purpose of this essay is to study if and how multimodality is used within a Swedish school in Kalmar. This is accomplished by observing the different modalities inside the classroom and how the use of different modalities affects the teaching. Unstructured observations combined with a material-based thematic presentation leads up to an analysis based on social semiotics and multimodality. Kommissionen inledde i februari 2000 en omfattande utredning mot Microsoft baserad på Sun Microsystems klagan om Microsofts konkurrensbegränsande förfaranden 1998. Utredningen bestod av två delar; interoperabilitet mellan PC-klientoperativsystemsmarknaden och servermarknaden och integrationen av Windows Media Player i Windows. I mars 2004 kom Kommissionens beslut där de drog slutsatsen att Microsoft dubbelt missbrukat en dominerande ställning genom att förhindra effektiv konkurrens på arbetsgruppsservermarknaden och bundit sin mediaspelare till sitt operativsystem. Microsoft överklagade Kommissionens beslut till Förstainstansrätten och den 17 september 2007 kom domen, vilken i huvudsak bekräftade Kommissionens beslut. Mitt syfte i denna uppsats är att undersöka den första delen av Kommissionens beslut angående interoperabilitet och sedermera Förstainstansrättens dom, för att avgöra hur väl de dragna slutsatserna överensstämmer med praxis, vad prejudikatet kan innebära för framtiden samt i vilken mån företag kan bli skyldiga att lämna ut information.I min analys och de avslutande kommentarerna redogör jag för min slutsats att Kommissionens beslut och Förstainstansrättens dom faktiskt är skäliga, men att prejudikatet måste vaktas av de exceptionella omständigheter som föreligger i fallet.

In this work, a method was developed and evaluated for calculating the life of welds under the influence of fatigue loads from a vibration environment. Typically, a shaker table is used for testing a component against vibration loads. The shaker table creates a vibration environment that is defined in the frequency domain by a power spectrum.Similarly, a virtual vibration table can be used to calculate the same type of load environment, which can then be used to calculate the expected lifetime. The benefit of this method is that it can be used in design, as well as in simulation of tests before physical verification tests are carried out.Today there are methods for calculating fatigue life of non-welded base material, but since many components contain welded joints, there is a need to apply this method to those types as well. To achieve this, the thesis combines two different areas, which together provide a method for fatigue assessment of welds using a virtual shaker table.The methodology is carried out by modeling the component, and its welded joints, in a finite element program.
