Metanpotential för alger och bioslam blandat med pappersfiber
In this thesis the methane gas potential of three different substrates, two algaes Saccharina latissima and Laminaria digitata and biosludge mixed with paper fiber was studied. This was done by batch experiments in a laboratory environment to examine the gas production and composition of the produced gas.Biogas production is a complex anaerobic digestion process in which various microorganisms decompose the substrate in steps and at the end produce biogas and a residue. Many factors affect the production of gas, for example the substrate content, temperature and pH in the digester.The analysis of methane potential were divided into two experiments. In experiment 1 substrates were digested along with inoculum from Växjö waste water treatment plant in a temperature of about 37 ?C.

The purpose of this report was to investigate to which extent local presence of large herbivore mammals (Alces alces, Cervus elaphus, Capreolus capreolus, Dama dama and Sus scrofa) covaries with small rodents (Myodes glaerolus, Apodemus flavicollis and Apodemus sylvaticus? The hypothesis was that high abundance of wild ungulates would inhibit the density of small forest rodents. The data was collected during field work within FoMA (Environmental Monitoring Assessment)/SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Science). The Ungulate dropping inventory and rodent trappings, which is the base in this report, where performed 2012 ? 2014 in Gnesta/Nyköping municipalities (G/N) with a relatively high density of wild ungulates and Vetlanda/Växjö municipalities (V/V) with relatively lower wild ungulate density.
Development of green space in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
In Dar es Salaam, as in many cities in developing countries, green areas are decreasing due to the fact that the growth of buildings, infrastructure and services has become a priority. As the population increases more buildings and infrastructure are needed and much of the building activity takes the form of uncontrolled settlements, which encroaches the public green space. Dar es Salaam has approximately three million inhabitants, of which about 70 percent are living in informal settlements.
The aim with this study is to make a design proposal for a park and recreation area where the Msimbazi river basin in the centre of Dar es Salaam is today.
The basin consist of a few playing fields, footpaths and some urban farming, but apart from this it mostly consists of unused grasslands, swamps and forests. Because it is an unsafe place and badly connected to the rest of the city infrastructure, it has become a barrier. The annual flood combined with the constant still shallow water creates a good breading ground for malaria mosquitoes.
Energieffektivisering genom förvärmning av flis till kokare med sekundärvärme
The Swedish pulp and paper industry meets higher demand for energy efficiencyi mprovements with increasing energy prices and changes in the Swedish renewable energy certificate system. One action of energy efficiency improvement is by using secondary heat, that otherwise would have been treated as waste heat, for use in a system with lower temperature demands. The aim of this Master´s thesis is to identify possible secondary heat sources in a typical Swedish pulp and paper mill and to investigate what economic benefits the secondary heat will provide when being used for pre heating of wood chips to a kraft digester.The Master´s thesis focuses on three secondary heat sources; dry warm air, warm water and moisture saturated warm air located inside the pulp or paper mill. Two types of kraft digesters are simulated within this study, a typical Scandinavian digester and a modern twin vessel steam phase digester.Due to quality aspects and low temperature level drying is the drying technology with dry warm air rejected. Using warm water in direct contact with wood chips increases the quantity of water to the evaporation plant and thus reduced pulp or paper production and is therefore also rejected.

Sammanfattning En bra grund är en grundläggande förutsättning för varje husbyggnation. Den vanligaste grundläggningsmetoden är platta på mark som i sitt grundutförande kräver plant underlag. En konsekvens av rationaliserade byggmetoder har blivit att man vid grundläggning på berg spränger en plan yta att förlägga grunden på. Att spränga i berg skapar irreversibla skador. I Sotenäs kommun, en kommun belägen på Bohusläns kust, finns berg som genom sin särprägel blivit klassade som riksintresse enligt Miljöbalken. En tradition i Bohuslän är att anpassa bebyggelsen efter naturens förutsättningar, vilket bland annat resulterat i grunder byggda efter bergets formationer.

The town square is an important public space and is often described as the city´s living room. By creating a lively city center a sense of security is developed among the citizens which makes them wanting to use the town square regardless the time of the day. One important meeting point in Gävle is the centrally located Stortorget, sited between Drottninggatan and Nygatan. The town square went through an extensive renovation followed by both positive and negative reactions among the City´s inhabitants. The aim with the study was to investigate the main walking paths and meeting points as a planning support to Gävle Municipality in their work with a new city plan. By studying the pedestrian movement patterns at Stortorget, Nygatan and Drottninggatan, the main walking paths and meeting points during all hours of the day was obtained.

mill and produce newspaper and journal paper. During year 2000, Hallstavik used
approximate 1.200 m3f spruce, either as logs or chips from sawmills. Due to that the
production is running continuously the mill also needs raw material at the same rate. At some periods the supply of raw material cannot keep up pace.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion, OTEC, a technology using the temperature difference between cold deep seawater and warm surface water, can extract the work in the form of electricity. OTEC gives also synergies of drinkable fresh water. The temperature difference has an impact on the efficiency of the technology, which means that the feasibility of OTEC is geographically limited. The project intends to explore the possibility of replacing the atoll Tarawa?s present electricity generation with an OTEC plant and to explore synergies. In the present situation all of Tarawa?s electricity is generated by fossil fuels.
Nutrient effects on microorganism communities in nutrient poor soils
Better, more efficient fertilizers with great productivity and economic returns are needed, but it is important today to find fertilizers that are also sustainable. It is also important to carefully monitor their impact on the environment, including potential side-effects. In this context, the microbial communities that carry out numerous essential functions contributing to a functional ecosystem are of particular interest.
The present study is a complement to a pot experiment that investigated the potential of different waste products for use as fertilizers and how they affect the microbial community. In the pot experiment, the clearest treatment change in microorganism community function was found in the fully fertilized treatment used as a positive control. En studie av en mindre kraftstation har gjorts i samarbete med Exencotech som forskar inom energi-återvinning. Deras kraftstation behandlar återvinning av värme från uppvärmt vatten som annars inte hade använts utan ansetts som ren förlust.Den studie som genomförts har gjorts på ett 100kW system med en så stor möjlighet till modularitet som är möjligt för anpassning och flexibel installation. Studien har även innefattat en 5kW prototyp och en modulär version av 100kW systemet upp till 0,5MW. Applikationen har som krav att framför allt minska volymen och storleken på systemet. Studien innefattar även en ergonomisk och användarvänlig inriktning vilket har påverkat designen och konstruktionen hos systemet.För att finna lämpliga lösningar och koncept till projektet har flera konceptgenereringar gjorts, liksom utvärderingar av lösningar.
