ABSTRACTBackground: The incidence of type 2 diabetes is increasing worldwide. Early intervention in form of medication, advice on self-management and lifestyle changes is necessary to avoid complications. Few Swedish studies are made on the diabetes nurse?s views on promotion of self- management.Purpose: To examine the diabetes specialist nurse?s experience of promoting self-management to patients with type 2 diabetes in primary care.  Method: A qualitative explorative study where eight diabetes nurses were interviewed. The interview guide consisted of semistructed questions concerning the promotion of self-management.Results: The diabetes nurse?s role in promoting patient self-management is significant, if resources are available in the form of adequate time for the patient and good team work.

One of our big public health problems in Sweden is that human beings are too inactive in outdoor settings. That is why stress related diseases increase and influence humans both mentally and physical. The physical activity is halved among many children when they start school and the older they become the less they enjoy school. It is also an increasing problem that children and youth in today's society have lack of worthwhile experiences in the nature. The aim of this study was therefore to examine how the experience of outdoor environment had importance for health and learning on upper secondary school pupils.

Habitat selection of migratory brown trout at the upper reaches of River Vindelälven, wasstudied in September during the pre-spawning period. The fish migrate from down- orupriver lakes for spawning in the river and data was collected by habitat mapping andradio-telemetry. Habitat selection of fish was analysed with preference curves andstatistical modelling, using the physical variables; depth, stream velocity and streambedsubstrate. Preference curves were derived by comparing fish habitat use with their nearbyavailable environment while the statistical modelling aimed to answer three main questions.1) Do the trout have a specific preference of depth, water velocity and streambed substrate?2) Is there any difference in habitat selection between sexes? 3) Is there a shift in habitatselection over time? The purpose of this study is to explore specific pedagogical activities that benefit the student's verbal language development and to learn more about how our schools use teaching methods to achieve the ambitions in the governing documents in Sweden. The aim is finding the correlation between theory, research, governing documents and the educational work in our schools. This study contains an empirical survey in intention to see how teachers, pupils and school administrators experience school activities, to see if those activities are formed with the intention for pupils to reach the learning goals according to the governing documents.The aim of this study has been achieved by relating empirical data with theories and previous research on conversation analysis. Goffman's and Norrby's research on the importance of dialogue and previous research on dialogicity studied by Dysthe, Vygotsky and Bakhtin are presented. Those are related to empirical data and show that most teachers realize the importance of integrating dialogues in daily activities and in different learning contexts.

The report examines the factors which may be a contributing cause to the problems that are present when ferritic stainless steel are eddy current tested in a warm condition. The work is carried out at Fagersta Stainless AB in Fagersta which manufactures stainless steel wire. In the rolling mill there is an eddy current equipment for detection of surface defects on the wire. The ferritic stainless steels cause a noise when testing and this noise complicates the detection of defects.Because of this, a study was made of how the noise related to factors such as steel grade, temperature, size and velocity. By observing the signal and with the possibilities to change the equipment settings the capability to let a signal filter reduce the noise level were evaluated.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to, referring to Shulman?s pedagogical content knowledge theory (PCK), examine how selected Physical Education teachers, educated in GIH and with a maximum of two years' work in upper secondary school, pursue their education in training theory. Moreover, another purpose is to examine how their education at GIH has prepared them for teaching in this subsection. Questions to be answered:? What are teachers' attitudes to training methods as part of physical education and health in upper secondary school?? In what way, referring to PCK-theory, are teachers working with training theory??In what way do the teachers think that their education at GIH has contributed to their teaching in training theory, referring to the pedagogical content knowledge theory?Method: The study has a qualitative approach and study design consisting of five semi-structured interviews with teachers working with Physical Education in upper secondary school. The selection was made considering that all teachers have been educated at GIH and had a maximum of two years working experience.

This thesis is intended to respond to the extent to which South African textbooks on the subject of history is linked to the governmental policy documents and whether they are producing and reproducing national identity. The two textbooks are aimed at students in grade 10. Both books were produced in 2008 but published by different publishers.The essay is based on Norman Faircloughs critical discourse theory which has been supplemented by Michael Billings theory Banal Nationalism, which assumes that it is the national words that remind us daily of our homeland that is producing and reproducing national identity.  The survey shows that both textbooks are closely tied to the government policy document for the teaching of history. The textbooks refer to the policy, both explicitly and implicitly. The two textbooks reproduce a common national identity in South Africa based on the discussions taking place in society.

This master thesis examines sport habits among young people and a view of their future in sports. Research has shown that the majority of youth leave sport clubs during adolescence. The thesis questions were: How physically active are young people? Which sports do they practice? Regarding their future in sports, what kind of aspirations do the young people have? Are there any barriers that could complicate their involvement in these activities? These questions were examined by analyzing if there were any differences between boys and girls, youth in different grades and youth with Swedish or foreign backgrounds. Pierre Bourdieu´s theoretical framework about sports and economic capital has been used as a research framework.

Samtidigt som en statlig utredning säger att understöd med helikopter är av stor betydelse för Försvarsmaktens framtida användbarhet så har flera omorganisationer skett inom myndigheten, vilket riskerar att hämma effektiviteten. Hur lämplig är Försvarsmaktens nuvarande helikopterorganisation när det gäller helikoptersamövning mellan Helikopterbataljonen och övriga förband?Studien visar att dagens Försvarsmakt, där efterfrågan på helikoptrarna är större än de tillgängliga resurserna, använder sig av ett system med både styrningar från högre chef såväl som önskemål från förbanden. Detta organisationsval stämmer väl överens med de antaganden, hämtade ur Bolman & Deals teori Det strukturella perspektivet, som har utgjort arbetets teoretiska grund.I arbetet framkommer även att det saknas en försvarsmaktsgemensam erfarenhetsdatabas för dessa övningar vilket riskerar att utgöra en friktion i kunskapsspridningen mellan förbanden..
