Studenters användning av referenstjänster: en användarundersökning vid Lunds universitetsbibliotek UB1, ht 1996
The main purpose of this study was to establish to what extent undergraduate students use reference services, what knowledge they have about those services and what their views of them are.The survey took place at Lund University Library, UB1, the main library responsible for collections in social sciences, humanities, theology and law. A total of 476 undergraduate students were asked to fill in a questionnaire, 273 accepted. The study is quantitative and was carried out during the autumn semester, 1996.The results show that the service used most frequently by undergraduate students is the reference collection. The least used service is the Internet, more than 50 percent of the students never use Internet at the University Library. In general, students are very pleased with the service given by the reference librarians, and with the collection of reference books.
Kan en tjänsteverksamhet effektiviseras utan att det inverkar negativt på dess servicekvalitet?
Telekombranschen står idag inför en rad olika utmaningar. Bland annat erbjuds varor och tjänster som är komplexa och de informationssystem som används är ofta eller inte alls anpassade efter de egna säljprocesserna. Samtidigt har produkterna som telekombranschen erbjuder fått minskad betydelse då aktörernas produkter är mycket lika varandra. Till följd av detta har servicekvaliteten fått en ökad betydelse samtidigt som denna påverkar verksamhetens effektivitet.Syftet med den här uppsatsen har varit att genom en fallstudie hos ett telekombolag identifiera faktorer och områden som effektiviserar verksamheten utan att servicekvaliteten försämras. Vi har utgått från två frågeställningar där vi valt att undersöka hur tjänsteverksamheter kan effektiviseras utan att det kompromissas på servicekvaliteten.
Mätning av implementeringen av lean inom sjukvård
The purpose of this thesis is to discuss how an instrument originally developed for measuring changes toward lean thinking inservice organizations in general should be adjusted in order to be of use in service organizations within the healthcare sector, andin hospital organizations in specific. The adjustments are suggested based on difficulties specifically arising when implementinglean within the healthcare sector.Thesis starting point is a pre-existing lean assessment instrument developed for service organizations in general. The thesis appliesa qualitative method and integrates literature from the health care sector and lean production movement with the expertise of tenacademics and practitioners in order to find difficulties associated with the implementation of lean within the healthcare sector.These difficulties then lie as the substratum for the adjustments suggested to be made on the instrument.The thesis finds that lean, as a philosophy, does not differ between service organizations in general and service organizationswithin healthcare settings. However, due to deficits in the general understanding of lean some adaptions on the instrument mustbe made. First, some words associated with production must be changed to words associated with healthcare.

The study has shown that retailers in the mid-price segment differentiate their brand through developing a strong company identity around the brand. The personality involves store atmosphere, merchandise and advertising. Larger companies have chosen to lay the responsibility on management level, which facilitates on store level. By controlling the strategies on a central level the company can make sure that the stores are steered in the direction that the company wants them to be steered in, and also that they follow the positioning-concept. The company can also devote its efforts to working with its core value, which is service.
Mot arbetslivet - en studie om samverkan mellan Arbetsförmedlingen och gymnasiesärskolornas studie- och yrkesvägledare
The number of students who finished special upper secondary school for pupils with intellectual disabilities without an employment has drastically decreased over the last decades. The purpose of this paper is to increase the knowledge of how career counselors at special upper secondary schools collaborate with the Employment Service, and how the special upper secondary school prepares their pupils for working life. The collection of data started with a national questionnaire survey which was directed to career counselors at schools.The result shows that the collaboration appears foremost in the pupils last year in special upper secondary school, and that the special upper secondary schools do not use the Employment Service's assistance to any great extent. In addition, the collaborative process consists of both inhibiting and promoting factors.The results also indicates that the collaboration between the special upper secondary schools and the local labor market can be developed more for the pupils to gain experience from working life..

The aim of this study is to explore the effects of probation officers and their work. The following questions have been asked to come to a conclusion: How do probation officers view their work and the purpose of it? What are the effects of probation officers work? The approach of the study is of a qualitative nature and has been conducted by interviewing three officers of the correctional service system, three probation officers and two ex-criminals that have been on probation. The selection is based on a snowball type selection. To analyse the results of the study we have applied previous research and phenomenological theory to examine the experience of correctional service officers, probation officers and ex criminals.
Släktforskare ett nödvändigt ont? En undersökning av bibliotekariers och släktforskares attityder gentemot släktforskning på bibliotek.
The aim of this thesis is to examine how librarians and family historians experience their interaction at the reference encounter, what influences these views and how they affect the service; whether the family historians are aware of these views; which subject knowledge is needed and how this knowledge affects work performance; if there is a need for continuing education, and finally, if the family historians themselves can work as a resource for the library or the librarians? The thesis consists of three parts; in the first a theoretical frame was constructed around the concepts service, continuing education, subject knowledge and attitudes. Role theory was used as a theoretical background to show how expectations influence professional roles. The second part consists of the results given from the qualitative interviews with librarians and surveys with family historians that were performed. In the last part a discussion from the theoretical and empirical information earlier received was made.

IKEA har under hela sin verksamhetstid befunnit sig i den strategiska position som benämnes hybrid, men har på senare tid tack vare ett förbättrat produktsortiment förflyttat sig närmare en differentieringsposition. Det har i sin tur medfört en höjd image som gjort att kunderna nu kräver mer service av IKEA Helsingborgs personal, en begäran som inte tillgodoses. Servicemötet ? interaktionen mellan frontpersonal och kund ? på IKEA Helsingborg har således kvalitetsproblem och fungerar inte tillfredsställande för vare sig kund, personal eller ledning. Uppsatsens primära syfte är att undersöka vilka ledningsåtgärder som behövs för att nå god kvalitet på servicemötet på IKEA: s varuhus i Helsingborg.
Röster om HR - en diskursanalys av HR:s identitetskonstruktion
Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka och analysera hur HR:s identitet konstrueras diskursivt i facktidningen Personal & Ledarskap. Vi undersöker också vilka motsättningar och spänningar som synliggörs och osynliggörs i Personal & Ledarskap, kopplat till HRs identitet, och hur dessa kan förstås utifrån diskursteori. En utgångspunkt tas delvis i Johan Berglunds (2002) forskning om personalspecialister och deras kamp för erkännande och status samt hur de arbetar med sin identitet utifrån olika retoriska positioner. Vår studie genomförs 10-15 år senare än Berglunds och ger därmed viktiga insikter i hur HR:s identitetsarbete ser ut i facktidningen Personal & Ledarskap idag. Uppsatsen utgår från diskursanalys och diskursteori och undersöker hur HR:s identitet konstrueras i textavsnitt från bland annat notiser, intervjuer och krönikor där HR:s roll behandlas.

The change in course recently taken by the Swedish Armed Forces results in an increased use of equipment, and thereby increased requirements of preventive maintenance. This paper aims to examine the current responsibilities for preventive maintenance in an army unit. The intended effect of this examination is to disclose possible flaws, and to help make routines for preventive maintenance more effective.The questions asked in this paper are;Who, in an army unit, is responsible for the routine maintenance?When is this responsibility valid?What demands does the technical service have on responsibilities for the routine maintenance?How are these demands met?How ought to be responsible for the routine maintenance?To answer these questions the author has chosen to use a descriptive method to show the current facts. A theorizing method is chosen to, from described facts, clarify the demands of the technical service on routine maintenance.

Kan arbetet motivera mera? - En studie av Hackman och Oldhams arbetskaraktärsmodell som analysverktyg i serviceföretag
Serviceyrket innebär att personal arbetar i nära samverkan med kunden. Om personalen på företaget är omotiverad kan det leda till att kunden får en sämre service och att företaget blir lidande. För att inte detta ska ske är det viktigt att motivera sin personal. Genom att arbeta med ett arbetes kärndimensioner ska det enligt arbetskaraktärsmodellen vara möjligt att förbättra motivationen bland de anställda. Fungerar modellen inom serviceföretag och om inte hur bör den förändras? Syftet är att undersöka om arbetskaraktärsmodellen kan fungera som ett verktyg för att analysera arbetens karaktär och därmed skapa bättre förutsättningar till att motivera personalen inom serviceföretag.

The aim of this master thesis is to study the relationship between general ethics and professional ethics, to attain an understanding of which values that are given priority in the profession of the librarian regarding personal encounter towards library users. The posed questions are: How can fundamental ethical principles be understood through the view of public librarians? How can policy documents regarding librarian ethics be understood through the view of public librarians? How can policy documents regarding librarian ethics be problematized in relation to fundamental ethical principles? We used four focus groups consisting of public librarians. Three theoretical frameworks create the base of the analysis; four fundamental ethical principles, ethical guidelines for Swedish librarians and recommendations for Swedish librarians in the reference service. Three main issues emerge in the study; equalistic personal encounter where the principle of justice is emphasized but also problematized, library users? integrity which mainly coincide with the principle of autonomy and finally the librarian?s professional role which are being defined by librarian specific competence to refrain violation of the principle of injury avoidance.
