The company Sound Precision has developed a new Line Array loudspeaker system (VHA-40). When using this system, their customers need computer aid to get the best possible sound-quality and control of sound levels for the whole audience. The aim of this thesis is to develop a truly useful sound quality simulator for the VHA-40. The system will help the sound engineers to position the loudspeakers for optimal sound by simulating loudspeaker configurations and visualizing the resulting sound quality and quantity. To solve this a human-centered design (HCD) approach is taken to implement a system that is truly useful for the users, meaning that they will use it more and hence deliver better sound for the audience.

Without being aware of it, cognitive processes continuously take place in our heads. We are forced to fill in the information gaps that we meet in our everyday life in order to create an understanding and to form a whole, and that?s where the importance of inference comes in. To create inference implies creating meaning from something that is not explicitly given. Having knowledge about this process offers great possibilities, while not taking it into account may involve risks.

The aim of this study is to enlighten how todays working environment affects young individuals descriptions of how to reach success in work life, now often titled as ?career?. Our purpose has been to analyse how the term career is constituted discursively among young people in jobs characterized by flexibility. The study is based on six qualitative interviews with young adults in the media industry, all between 20-30 years old. By utilising a Foucaultdian discourse analysis we want to expose how the competing and dominating discourses, that our interviewees? statements are based on, can be associated with a wider social context.  The study reveals that our interviewees describe career in two separate ways, both positively and negatively.

This Master?s thesis provides insights into adult women?s fictional reading within the conceptual phrase ?a good book?. Eight qualitative and semi-structured interviews were performed in order to examine the nature of response and perceived benefits. The collected data were analyzed by Louise M. Rosenblatt?s reception-oriented transactional theory of reading and the cognitive psychology-based model of reading developed within the joint Nordic project SKRIN.

The purpose of this study is to find out how the four teachers at the two preschools believe they are working with gender and how they actually work with it in practice. It also aims to show how they treat the children at the preschool based on their gender.What is the preschool teachers view on gender and equality?How do they consider that they work with gender and gender equality, and how do they really work with it in practice?The study is based on a qualitative study were I chose to both interview and observe four preschool teachers from two different preschools. My theoretical starting point is Yvonne Hirdmans theory of gender and also research on gender equality. The results show that the majority of respondents believed that gender and gender equality means almost the same thing or have the same meaning.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva och analysera hur kunskapsintensiva tjänsteföretag inom banksektorn kan attrahera nya medarbetare och behålla befintlig personal med hjälp av Employer Branding.Studien baseras på kvalitativ metodik, bestående av djupgående intervjuer med tre svenska storbanker; Handelsbanken, Swedbank och Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB). För att få en mer specialiserad kunskap om fenomenet Employer Branding har även Academic Communication intervjuats, som är ett marknadsföringsföretag inriktad på denna form av marknadsföring.Ett gediget informationsunderlag gällande den externa och interna målgruppens uppfattning av företagens Employer Brand är centralt för att utarbeta adekvata Employer Branding-strategier. Under arbetets gång är det betydelsefullt att kontinuerligt undersöka om associationerna som företagen vill sammankoppla till dess varumärke som arbetsgivare, förmedlas, och att anpassa strategierna utefter det. Employer Branding genomförs externt främst genom deltagande på mässor och arbetsmarknadsdagar på högskolor och universitet. Det personliga mötet är centralt vilket fordrar att de operationellt ansvariga har kunskap om budskapet som ska kommuniceras. Att prioritera vilka aktiviteter som bedrivs skapar ett tydligare Employer Brand.

Den fysiska miljön har en stor betydelse för barns utveckling och lärande. Att förskolans lärmiljöer utformas efter barns behov och intressen spelar en stor roll i att skapa bra förutsättningar för barns lek och lärande. Syftet med detta utvecklingsarbete var att skapa ett rum som skulle inspirera barn till lek och lärande. Utvecklingsarbetet genomfördes på en förskola på en avdelning med barn i åldern 1-3 år. Metoder som användes var: Observationer, dokumentation med digitalkamera, gruppdiskussion, vilket filmades och genom frågeformulär till personal, (som har ett vattenrum och till personal som önskar ett vattenrum).

In this thesis I'm trying to examine the meaning potential of visual elements and layout in a Swedish newspaper front page and the same newspaper's website's start page, drawing on theories about multimodality and social semiotics developed mainly by Theo van Leeuwen and Gunther Kress. The study is focusing on Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet and the website aftonbladet.se and compares these three different days. In this thesis I also try to examine what the newspaper communicate about its identity through the different visual components. My conclusion is that visual elements and layout have a great importance regarding what a newspaper communicate about how the news articles should be read, but what can be said about a company's identity mostly depend on the genre the newspaper belongs to and how well the reader knows that particular genre..

The nursing staff ought to familiarize themselves with the experience, encounter their feelings and identify their needs.

The purpose of this paper is to examine and to analyze the arguments about a possible Swedish law against the veil. I have therefore highlighted how notions about the veil creates and reproduces power-structures and meaning-systems. I structured the arguments in a pro et contra schedule and then analyzed them by using a theoretical framework consisting post-colonial feminism, orientalism, multi-culture and intersectionality together with research produced by Joan Wallach Scott (2010), Pia Karlsson Minganti (2007) and Anne Sofie Roald (2003). The results of the study shows that the people who either argue for or against a veil-law agree that the veil is an oppression of women and that it must be resisted. To be objective in the discussion of the veil seems to be impossible and the women it affects deprived voice.

Sveriges befolkning blir allt äldre och med hög ålder ökar risken för att drabbas av olika demenssjukdomar, framförallt Alzheimers sjukdom. Den som drabbas av demenssjukdom behöver ibland någon form av särskilt boende. Den boendeform som bäst passar för personer med Alzheimers sjukdom är ett gruppboende för 6-10 personer. Det som i litteraturen framhölls som viktigt för gruppboendeformens funktion var bland annat rätt planlösning och boendemiljö, selektion av de boende men också problematiken kring kvarboendeprincipen. Handplockad personal, individualiserad och meningsfull aktivering för de boende, ansågs också som viktigt för gruppboendeformen samt att verksamheten utvärderades och kvalitetssäkrades.

The purpose of this essay was to investigate affecting factors concerning social workers in social services assessments with cases of abuse. We wanted to see if social workers in social services tend to make different assessments of the need of substance abusers care. Our survey was carried out as a vignettesurvey with complementary interviews as means to deepen the outcome results.Our survey showed that the included social workers in social services in some senses make different assessments when it comes to choice of effort put in for the client. We shed light on different factors and circumstances, which could bear meaning for the social workers in social services assessments. Examples of factors were the social workers in social services age, gender, working experience and attitude towards substance abusers..

Autonomi ökar arbetstagarens engagemang i arbetet. Uppskattning är nödvändigt för att uppleva intresse att prestera bättre. Hög självkänsla behöver arbetstagaren för välmående och trygghet. Om självkänslan däremot är låg finns det risk att arbetstagaren blir beroende av uppskattning och överpresterar för att uppnå bekräftelse. Denna prestationsbaserade självkänsla har vid tidigare studier visats öka risken för ohälsa.

In the church communion, there is a belief to the traditional and the repeteated behaviour. This shared group is strength by ceremonies and rituals and people in this collective somehow experience another type of reality. This study has a social - psychological perspective and the purpose is to study people?s know-how of faith and why they seek religion in today´s secularized society.

How preschool teachers thinking and working with systematic quality work The purpose of this study was to investigate how Swedish preschool teachers thinking and working with systematic quality work. All Swedish preschools are required to work systematically with quality. This involves several steps that follow each other in a specific order. It includes following up, documenting and evaluating preschool activities.
