Today the ability to swim is taken for granted by most people. Most of Sweden?s adult population can swim which is reflected in the reduced number of accidental drownings. About 1900 AD when Sweden?s population was about five million the average drownings per year was 1100.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is becoming a more common diagnosis of younger children. In recent years the perception that some ingredients in our food may have a negative effect regarding the symptoms in children with ADHD has grown stronger. Children with ADHD often suffer from irritated bowel syndromes which affect their ability to digest food. This may result in malnutrition as well as a release of substances that are harmful.The purpose of this report is to compile and illustrate the knowledge of how special food, particular milk protein and gluten, may affect the symptoms of children with ADHD. Also, the report aims to evaluate if there should be changes made in Kindergarten to increase the well-being of these children.

The subject-matter of the following essay is to investigate the relationship between what is commonly called Deep Ecology or Biocentric Philosophy, as articulated by the co-founder of the Deep Ecology Movement, Arne Naess, and later proponents of the biocentric school of environmentalist thought. I contrast Naess? concept of Self-realization as founded in his Ecosophy T to the ideas of american conservationist and co-founder of the radical green movement Earth First! Dave Foreman, and to the controversial finnish environmentalist and ecofascist Pentti Linkola?s ideological agenda of population-reduction respectively.According to some critics of the movement, especially the social ecologist Murray Bookchin and French liberal philosopher Luc Ferry, the Deep Ecology ideology is essentially misanthropic and totalitarian in structure. A central idea among deep ecologists is that ecosystems and natural entities have intrinsic value in themselves, even outside a human social context. This idea is thought of among deep ecologists to create a philosophically sound basis for counteracting the environmental global crisis.

Joint injury (inflammation) or osteoarthritis is the most common cause of poor performance in the athletic horse. Osteoarthritis is the ensuing degeneration of joint cartilage due to inflammation/injury. The single most important factor in the inflammation cascade of joint injuries is interleukin-1 (IL-1). Until recently, these injuries have been treated with products like hyaluronic acid, cortisone and polysulphated glycosaminoglycans (PSGAG). Several studies have not been able to demonstrate a significant difference in the clinical improvement of joint injuries treated with hyaluronic acid or PSGAG and saline.

I denna studie undersöktes sångens betydelse förden emotionella upplevelsen vid musiklyssnande. Deltagarna i studien fick genomföra ettlyssningstest, där man fick lyssna på olika versioner av 10 olika musikstycken; med sång,utan sång och med enbart sång. Parallellt med lyssningen fick man ange upplevd känsla samtskatta intensitet.

Swedish horse breeders have generally very few mares producing a few foals a year and the breeders have relatively few traditions, little knowledge and experience to breed foals successfully. It is therefore important to provide adequate information about new findings in horse nutrition. However, there is not much research about feeding the suckling foal to ensure a sound growth. Current feeding recommendations in the literature seems to be different. This gives a confusing message and the information is difficult to apply. This paper reviews some publications in the area of feeding the suckling and weaning foal. Most authors stress that it?s important to start feeding the foal early in life.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka varför sjuksköterskestudenter väljer att påbörja en sjuksköterskeutbildning samt vilka föreställningar de har kring yrket? Studiens design var kvantitativ med deskriptiv ansats. Data samlades in genom en enkätundersökning bland nya sjuksköterskestudenter (n= 34) vid en Högskola, HT 2010. Resultatet visade att studenterna väljer utbildningen av olika orsaker. Den vanligaste orsaken till valet var att få en möjlighet att vidareutbilda sig inom sjuksköterskeyrket och för de studenter som har arbetat inom sjukvården valde utbildningen för att vidareutbilda sig till sjuksköterska.

The purpose of this thesis is to explore how love relationship affects the identity and attitude towards school of study motivated girls in 17-18 years of age with the subsidiary purpose to get anidea of how the gender order is maintained in the relationship.The study is based on theories of gender theory and identity theory, which concerns gender as aresult of actions and how the gender order is maintained. The identity theory is based as a choice toconvey different roles.The study is founded on qualitative research interviews with six different girls, where the focus wasto learn about their own experiences of how the love relationship affects them.The results were interpreted through a hermeneutic analysis.The results show that the love relationship affect informants' identity on self-perception, what roles they convey and the attitude towards school. It turned out that the informants' attitude towards school was dependent on their boyfriend´s attitude towards school.The results also show that girls are highly involved in the process of maintaining the gender order in which they choose to manage their time according to their boyfriend's time, and has the role of the engaging and emotional in the relationship..

The objective for this Master?s thesis is to study literary programs for infants at six Swedish public libraries, their relevance and importance for infants and how the infant?s perspective in the program design and implementation is taken into consideration. The questions I pose are: In which way do the programs take the infants need for development and their literary prerequisites into consideration? Which functions can the programs have for infants? I have used a qualitative method, based on deep interviews with six library staff, working with literary programs. A model was developed based upon Daniel Stern?s theories of the interpersonal world of the infant together with Joseph Appleyard?s reading development theory.

To Swedes in general and, to hunters in particular, there is a great interest for moose (Alces alces), witch is Sweden?s largest deer species. In the province of Öland (Sweden?s second largest island) the local people show a great interest for the moose existence, both for consumptive (hunting) and non-consumptive use (tourism). This became apparent in 2002 when the moose hunters on Öland voluntary agreed to temporarily postpone the moose hunt on the island.

The purpose of this study is to analyse asylum seeking converts understanding of their conversion process based on church context, specifically within the realm of evangelical church and theology. Through the method of content analysis this essay analyses six qualitative interviews done with converts from two Islamic traditions to Swedish free church Christianity. The essay discusses the results through the lens of Lewis Rambos seven-phase theoretical concept of conversion. The important results given by this study shows that the first contact with other Christians in a new country, which creates a new community serving as an interpretive framework for their lives, triumphs the question of the theological perception for the conversion. Also, the results shows that intellectual understanding of the doctrines of faith is less important relative to the conversion process best described by the words touched, taught, and transformed.

Denna rapport undersöker om olika gestaltningar av rumsklang ger högre gradperceptuellt realism med en visuell referens. Undersökningen baseras på denforskning inom rumsklang och perception av dessa som skett tidigare. I dessa fall utanen visuell referens. I detta fall undersöks gestaltningen som ges av konvolutionsreverb,fördröjningsnätsreverb och en kombination av dessa. För att undersöka detta skapadestre videoklipp med samma bild och samma ljudeffekter med skillnad i denreverbteknik som användes.

Syftet med litteraturstudien är att utforska hur sjukhusmiljön påverkar patienter inom sluten somatisk vård. Med sjukhusmiljö avsågs utformningen och designen av sjukhusmiljön och miljömässiga faktorer/komponenter i denna. Metoden för utförandet av litteraturstudien har inspirerats av Goodmans modell. Urvalet bestod av 13 empiriska vetenskapliga artiklar som granskats och analyserats. Resultaten som funnits berör musik, ljus, ljud, akustik, patientrum, enkelrum/delade patientrum, patientsäng, sängplats, privat utrymme, avdelningens utformning, fönster och bekvämligheter/hjälpmedel.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine teachers? perception of communication in the Mathematics lesson. I wanted to find out how teachers look at communication as a didactic manner and how they view their role in encouraging communication and discussion during the Mathematics lesson and what communication can contribute to students? learning in Mathematics, according to their beliefs. I have chosen a qualitative approach; I have interviewed six Mathematics teachers working in three different schools.

Detta arbete undersöker om peka-och-klicka-äventyrsspel kan ta hjälp av andra spelgenres sätt att tydliggöra ett interagerbart objekt. För att undersöka detta applicerades tre olika grafiska designval hos 3D-texturer på interagerbara objekt i en 3D-spelmiljö. Arbetet undersökte även vilken av dessa texturversioner som framförallt hjälpte informanterna att identifiera de interagerbara objekten utan att de var för uppenbara.Den teoretiska grunden innefattade teorier om perception, färglära och gränssnittens påverkan på immersion. Men även begrepp som ?affordance?, ?conceptual model? och realistisk spelgrafik har behandlats.Tolv informanter fick se de tre olika 3D-texturversionerna för de interagerbara objekten på renderade bilder från en 3D-spelmiljö.
