The content of teaching materials considerably affects pupils? attitudes and worldview. This paper is an analysis of textbooks used in 7th through 9th grade of the Swedish School system in Swedish as a Second Language (SSL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The purpose of this paper is to look at which minority groups, the five official national minorities as well as other minorities, are included and portrayed in the textbook series Tre gånger svenska and Wings Mini as well as to see if there is any bias in their portrayal. The seven types of bias investigated; invisibility, stereotyping and generalizations, unreality, imbalance and selectivity, fragmentation and isolation, linguistic bias and cosmetic bias are an adaption of the framework to detect bias in curriculum materials presented by Sadker and Zittleman (2002/2003).

This study begins in a previous benchmarking study made by one of Sweden?s teachers unions Lärarförbundet. This is a statistical study that ranked the Swedish municipalities against each other?s according to their accomplishments in a number of areas related to their school systems.

This essay examines the decline of reading comprehension in Swedish schools, and also aims to provide insight into the debate concerning a literary canon and its usage in schools. While some claim that the literary canon is only a list of irrelevant white dead men which only serves to perpetuate feelings of alienation in, for example, female students, others see it as a means to bring society together using the only literature that stood the test of time. This essay will look to studies concerning reading comprehension, and questions regarding reading habits which our own students answered. It will also explain the different viewpoints of both sides of the canon debate.There are several studies that show this decline in reading comprehension, PISA and PIRLS being the foremost of them. They point to a trend where the reading skills of boys are much worse than those of girls, a trend which still has not panned out.Bloom and the different researchers who are the basis for Verhaest's thesis are of the opinion that canonical literature serves a purpose in that it teaches students aesthetic literary values.

SammanfattningSyfte: Finna forskningsbaserade underlag för hur fysisk barn- och ungdomsträning bör bedrivas, från nybörjarnivå som barn (ca sex år) till avancerad nivå som ung senior (ca 18 år) och koppla detta till innebandy.Frågeställningar: Finns det perioder under uppväxten då unga idrottare är extra mottagliga för en viss typ av träning? Hur bör träningen utformas under uppväxten uppdelat i delkapaciteterna: aerobt, anaerobt, styrka, rörlighet och koordination/teknik?Metod: Systematisk litteraturöversikt av befintlig forskning inom det valda problemområdet. Sökningar i databasen EBSCOhost har utförts. Från sammanlagt i 713 st. artiklar har tolv artiklar sållats fram som gick vidare till dataextraktion.

Bakgrund:I barndomen sker ofta den första kontakten med sjukvården. Ett professionellt bemötande är bland det viktigaste arbetsredskapet i mötet med barn. Hur ett barn upplever olika företeelser under en sjukhusvistelse beror bl.a. på barnets ålder, tidigare erfarenheter av medicinska sammanhang, förmåga till coping samt föräldrarnas reaktioner. Provtagningar och behandlingar kan vålla både rädsla och smärta.

The shopping mall is a reflection of the city and its habitants, a concentrate of the modern city. I have studied the dialogues of malls and the communication within, how malls are put together and what they communicate. The city is constantly changing. As soon as we try to grasp the city, it slips away. My opinion is that city planners and landscape architects need to widen their views. City planning needs to develop to better fit to the changes of our modern cities.

Nyckeln till ett framgångsrikt och värdefullt företag är att göra bra investeringar eftersom det är investeringarna som skapar den avkastning som dess ägare får som ersättning (Froot, et al., 1994). Om företaget strävar efter att göra värdemaximerande investeringar måste de därför bedöma vilka investeringar som kan tänkas generera en avkastning som är större än kostnaden för kapitalet som investeras (Brealey, et al., 2014). Detta är den teoretiska grundregeln för all investeringsbedömning (Brealey, et al., 2014). Men eftersom framtiden är fylld av risk och osäkerhet är bedömningen av en investerings ekonomiska värde ingen enkel sak (Sandahl & Sjögren, 2005).I företagens strävan att tämja denna risk och osäkerhet har Mikes (2009;2011) identifierat två olika kulturer, den beräknande kulturen och den visualiserande kulturen. AbstractA Problem to Every SolutionThe Corrymeela Community, René Girard and the ambiguous pluralismThe main purpose of this study is to examine how Girard´s ideas of society, culture andreligion have become part of the reflexion in the praxis of Corrymeela Community through the work of Roel Kaptein and how this praxis can shed light over the work with dissonances of faith and values in education in RE, Social Studies and other subjects.In earlier publications I have studied how dissonances of faith and values can beunderstood in educational settings and in connection with issues of interreligious dialogue.The extensive discussion of how differences in culture, religion and value in a pluralisticsociety are to be analysed and treated in pedagogical reflexion seems to increasingly occupyactors in different parts of the educational system. It is obvious that these issues also arebrought into focus as an important field of research. My main interest in this paper is to study how a reconciliation group in the middle of the conflict in Northern Ireland has developed a view of conflict reason and conflict resolution under the influence of the French researcher René Girard and what aspects of this study that can improve the reflection over pluralism and dissonances of faith and values in everyday praxis in education.For a period of more than a decade I have been in contact with actors in the peace process inNorthern Ireland in connection to different educational projects. The attempts to analyse the different aspects of ?The Troubles? and the efforts to find ways out of conflicts and civil war are many and the literature on subjects related to these tragic history of social, cultural and religious conflicts is difficult to survey.

BakgrundHumant Immunbristvirus (HIV) är en obotlig virussjukdom. Viruset försvagar och bryter ner kroppens immunförsvar. Obehandlat leder sjukdomen till Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), då immunförsvaret är helt nedbrutet. Idag lever 30 miljoner människor världen över med sjukdomen och i Sverige finns cirka 6000 personer med HIV/AIDS. Sjukdomen behandlas livslångt med antivirala medel, som skapar förutsättning till ett längre och friskare liv.

This study departs from the observation that since the late 1980´s educational programmes for curators have been established and since then expanded greatly. The programmes are part of a process of institutionalization and professionalization of the role of the curator within the international contemporary art field where the role as such has gained much power. Even though many statements have been made about this relatively new phenomenon of curatorial studies, there is a lack of sufficient research. The intention of this study is therefore to examine the educational programmes as such. The selection of 15 programmes has been made with the purpose to include early as well as newly established and to cover a wide geographic area.

In this study we have explored and investigated how journalist experience the relationship with politicians/press secretaries in the making of political news. The study examines how journalists see the balance of power between them and their political sources in the setting of the news agenda. To do this we have used a qualitative interview analysis. Our theoretical starting points have been based on the social exchange model. The social exchange model has a social psychological and sociological perspective that explains the interaction, social exchange and stability as a process of negotiation exchanges between parties and operators.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how public libraries work with children's books, in other languages thanSwedish, regarding acquisitions. The purpose is also to describe what the libraries assignments are in regard tochildren with non-Swedish backgrounds. This is then put in a relation to the libraries democratic assignment.The main questions are: What are the libraries' assignments, as described in the libraries regulations? How do thelibraries work to fulfil their assignments?To answer these questions a survey in two parts has been carried out. The first is a study of the libraries'regulations, and various handbooks that serve as an inspiration for librarians.
