This is a study of how democracy is affected by regionalization. The study focuses on values related to the democracy; these values are representative, transparency, participation, anchoring of decisions and accountability. The case study for this essay is the Regional Development Council of Värmland case study of Region Värmland.1997 a proposition was put forward the Swedish government about changes in responsibilities regarding four Swedish counties. It was decided that Kalmar, Gotland, Skåne and Västra Götaland County would be part of pilot project with extended regional autonomy.Region Värmland was formed at 2001 as a Region Development Council and was at 2007 transformed to a co-cooperative body. The construction industry depends on functioning logistics; if the logistics isn?tworking the construction site will risk to be interrupted due to material shortages orproblems with deliveries. Despite this, the construction industry is battling logisticproblems daily. This problem is very time consuming and costly for the companies.These theses are written for Peab Bostadsproduktion and investigate if it is possibleto focus on logistics earlier in the building planning process to reduce the problemsthat occur. Peab has partnerships with three companies that could be helpful for themin the work of reducing logistic problems.

Syftet med denna studie var att förstå hur internt samt externt rekryterade ledare och hur deras ledarskap kan tänkas påverka organisationskulturen och hur kulturen i sin tur kan tänkas påverka ledarna. Studien genomfördes på Peab där sammanlagt 11 medarbetare och arbetsledare deltog i halvstrukturerade intervjuer med öppna frågor. Medarbetarna som deltog i studien menar att organisationskulturen inte har förändrats till följd av intern respektive externt rekrytering av ledare, dessutom trodde medarbetarna att det saknar betydelse ifall ledare tillsätts internt eller externt. Således verkar valet av rekryteringsform varken påverka kulturen på Peab i en positiv eller negativ bemärkelse. Samtliga medarbetare och arbetsledare lyfte fram en specifik fördel vid extern rekrytering av ledare, nämligen att denna typ av rekrytering medför ?nytänk? till organisationen.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka och generera idéer om vad som bör tas i beaktande då Västerås skall marknadsföra sig gentemot stockholmare. För att uppfylla detta syfte genomfördes fyra olika fokusgrupper, två i Västerås samt två i Stockholm. Fokusgrupperna iVästerås genomfördes med personer som flyttat till Västerås från Stockholm under 2002-2003. I Stockholm genomfördes de med personer som bor i innerstaden samt väntar barn. De slutsatser som går att dra efter genomförande av studien är att personer som har barn är merlockade av att lämna Stockholm än personer utan, samt att Västerås saknar den starka identitet som Stockholm har.

Event is a phenomenon that lately has become more common, especially within the tourism industry. This essay is a study within human geography and with focus on the meaning and the design of events. The purpose with this essay is to examine and describe the concept of event and to show how events can influence a region. Falkenberg is situated in the county of Halland by the west coast and the sea and because of that a natural tourist destination. The city is a known seaside resort since the end of the nineteenth century.

The construction industry has not undergone the same logistical development as the manufacturing industry; this, in combination with increased material price, leads to the fact that the construction industry must be improved. This master thesis is a part of the research cooperation Brains & Bricks goal of reducing production costs for the construction sector by 25 percent. Brains & Bricks is a cooperation between Linköping University, Peab and Katrineholms municipality. The master thesis aims to identify improvements in the flow of material, the Supply chain operation reference, SCOR, model has been used and the work has been carried out on one of Peab?s construction sites. At present the business is characterized by bad communication both between the construction site and the office as well as between the construction site and suppliers.

The objective of this study was to make an inventory and a potential analysis of the organic beef production in the region of Gävleborg, Sweden. A survey was conducted, where a questionaire was sent to all farmers in the region who had environmental subsidies concerning organic cropping systems in 2001. In total, there were 701 farmers, of which 46 % participated in the study. Three slaughter houses were interviewed to get their pictures of the development of organic beef production. The study shows that there are potentials and interests in the region to increase the production of organic beef.

This report is a result of a diplomawork in construction engineering.The goal of this thesis is to highlighthow the work with planning andperformance management is done in theprojects at the Swedish buildingcontractor Skanska Väg & anläggning,region Stockholm/Mälardalen, districtMark Stockholm North, compared toSkanska?s policies.The comparison was made with focus onfive tools for productivity. The toolsare as follow: broken-down schedule,work sets, visual control, performancemanagement/progress monitoring and bestpractice.The study showed that the usage of thedifferent tools varied both within andbetween the different projects.Practically none of the projects whereusing the tools progress monitoring andbest practice, mostly due to fewoperations being applicable. The worksets are now mostly documented, but theyare rarely followed up. Performancemanagement is somewhat inconsequentialfor the moment, but during 2011 targetsheets will be introduced, withtemplates for setting up targets.Scheduling is one of the most importantworks regarding planning.

The distributioncentral of Stadium has an area of 31,6 acre and is being build in Herstadberg in the region of Norrköping. It is Mattssons Fastighetsutveckling (Mattssons Real-estate development) who also has ordered the building. They will also take care of the operation and support of the distributioncentral. The purpose of this paper is to examine how events can be successful and stay competitive.Festivals are a big part of the event world and it can be difficult to understand why certainfestivals are successful and others not. In this paper we have conducted a comparison betweentwo major festivals in Stockholm. Both of them reached success, but nevertheless one of themfailed, while the other one is still successful. With this comparison, it appeared that there aremany aspects that help a festival to reach success but also factors that can make a festival afailure. To conduct this study, a number of interviews have been carried through; these havelater been put in relation to different theories about festivals.

The concept of the dynamic region has become a more prospering thought in the era of globalisation. This concerns in particular, cross border regions ? well-integrated territorial regions crossing more than one nation. In this paper I examine the development from a critical perspective and I map the democratic pitfalls of new territorial political constructions across national borders. Detta är ett examensarbete utfört på Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap (ITN) i Norrköping som är en del av Linköpings Universitet i samarbete med Peab som intressent.Historiskt sett har byggbranschens intresse för logistik varit svalt vilket har lett till att logistiken inom denna bransch har halkat efter i förhållande till övriga branscher. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att utifrån ett logistiskt synsätt tillhandahålla anpassningsförslag till SCOR-processerna ?Make? och ?Return? så att dessa stämmer bättre överens med byggbranschen i allmänhet samt finna förbättringsförslag kopplade till byggprocessen och returflöden av material hos Peab utifrån ett logistiskt hänsynstagande.För att kunna göra detta kommer examensarbetet avhandla hur byggbranschen passar in i SCOR-modellen i dagsläget med avseende på Make och Return. Därefter kommer exjobbet att komma med olika anpassningsförslag som framkommit längs med arbetets gång. Ett sådant förslag är att införa en nivå 4 i SCOR för Produce and Test (sM3.4) som ska gå in lite djupare i detalj på hur de olika byggnationsmomenten går till och vad som ingår i dessa.

Grönt byggande ligger i tiden och är en av framtidens nyckelfaktorer för konkurrenskraft och samhällsansvar i byggindustrin. För att lyckas ser dock vi en avgörande betydelse i att grönt förankras i hela organisationen samt att en grundläggande förståelse skapas. För att bättre nå ut hela vägen till organisationen anser vi att implementering spelar en betydande roll.I vårt examensarbete har vi valt att analysera de problemområden som vi stött på inom grönt byggande, för att därefter bryta ned dessa till mer konkreta nyckel- och framgångsfaktorer. Med denna studie hoppas vi kunna bidra med en förståelse för hur Skanska, Region Hus Stockholm Bostäder ska arbeta vidare för att lyckas implementera grönt byggande samt nå företagets mål inom området. Frågan vi inledningsvis ställde oss var:Finns det idag några generella framgångsfaktorer som kan generera förslag till handling för att lyckas med strategiimplementering?Hur ska Skanska arbeta för att lyckas förmedla, engagera och implementera grönt byggande inom Regionen Hus Stockholm Bostäder, från ledning till projekt?Vi har angripit frågan genom att på regionen empiriskt studera nuläget inom grönt byggande.
