Title: Brain Gym®? An approach to increase self-knowledge in situations of learning?- A study at the Malmö Academy of Music from a teacher and student perspective. Brain Gym® is a method developed by Paul Dennison in his studies of physiology and aims to eliminate potential blockages during the process of learning. During the influence of stress, as in learning, we do not possess a total access to our perceptive ability. Instead we are limited to our so called dominance profile.

The main purpose of this thesis is to discuss what exile writing is and who can be seen as an exile writer. If the word ?exile? is related to forced dislocation, like Paul Tabori and Sopia A. McClennen describes it, who can be viewed as an exile writer? Is Anders Olsson?s definition of an exile writer acceptable or not? Could the The Escape, a future story about exiled Northern Europeans in Myanmar, be classified as exile literature?Another purpose with this text is to describe how a story about exile can be made realistic and tangible to a reader who has not experienced exile.

The purpose of this essay is to analyse the movie Hotel Rwanda from a didactic point of view using the movie?s use of history and historical culture as the main analytical tools. We also intend to problematize the use of movies in teaching focusing on the teaching guide from the Swedish film institution concerning Hotel Rwanda. We choose to work with a qualitative method. The reason why we decided to work with a qualitative method is the intention, as mentioned before, to analyse the movie using the tools we described earlier.

Sammanfattning Jag har i denna uppsats sammanfogat två litterära teorier genom att använda ett väletablerat begrepp, hybriditet, inom den ena teoribildningen, postkolonialism, på en annan teoribildning, postmodernism. Under arbetet med uppsatsen har jag brottas med en enhetlig definition av hybriditetsbegreppet men insett att en sådan inte existerar, jag har därför citerat vad ledande teoretiker på området har skrivit om begreppet och sedan försökt hitta beröringspunkter för att kunna skapa en enhetlig definition. Jag har presenterat denna, personliga definition av begreppet i uppsatsen. I uppsatsen har jag påvisat hur olika forskningsdiscipliner ser på hybriditetsbegreppet och via ett annat etablerat begrepp inom sociologin, flanören, har jag gett ett exempel på hur postkolonial litteraturteori och postmodern litteraturteori kan överbryggas. Jag har också skapat ett nytt begrepp för att underlätta överbryggandet av gapet mellan postmodern litteraturteori och postkolonial litteraturteori i uppsatsen, den hybride flanören..

Is the Swedish author Stig Dagerman an existentialist? This work takes a close look at Dagerman?s novel Island of the Doomed to see if it is possible to consider it an expression of existentialist thinking and to see if it interacts with any specific existentialist tradition. Dagerman?s novel was compared with select works of five existentialist thinkers ? Søren Kierkegaard, Martin Heidegger, Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Karl Jaspers, all read in the light of the four categories of existentialistic thinking identified by the Swedish scholar Lennart Koskinen. All the four categories appeared to be central themes within the novel and a few subcategories were identified.

This essay examines computer and video games and their capacity of being useful in teaching sessions. Focus is being put at a possible pedagogical potential and how it is being expressed in games mechanics. To get answers on these subjects? studies by Professor James Paul Gee and Jesse Schell is used together in creating a model for analysis. With this model together with a narrative analysis this essay hopes to give clarifications on if a pedagogical potential is present and if so, how it is being expressed.Studies in this paper shows that a pedagogical potential is overall present in used material.

AIMS AB is a Swedish company that develops and sells inertial sensor systems. A new product is under research which basically is an aided inertial navigation system where unwanted drift is eliminated. This can be done by integrating a GPS reciever into the system and fuse measurement data from GPS and IMU. Such a product is useful in racing, where engineers always are searching for the optimal performance and the shortest lap times. Today the only feedback the engineers and mechanics get from their work is the driver?s comments and lap times.

The purpose of this work was to investigate the early medieval view of the Bilical king David through the analysis of ten illuminations found in early medieval manuscripts in which he is depicted playing string instruments. First, a description of medieval manuscripts and king David and string instruments was presented, second, an analysis and a discussion of images as source material and an interpretation of the mythic and symbolic significance that is based on ideas presented by Paul Ricoeurs and Roland Barthes of the ten illuminations followed. The results showed that king David often was portrayed as a musical king, a dancer and a prophet that incarnated wisdom and justice; that king David served as a role-model for the Western regents, and that he was portrayed in an idealised and estethically appealing manner..

Studien syftar till att öka pedagogers medvetenhet kring barnböckers betydelse för barns identitetsskapande. 10 av de 20 mest lånade böckerna av förskolor och skolor på Malmös stadsområdesbibliotek har legat till grund för textanalyserna. Analyserna har gjorts ur ett intersektionellt perspektiv med fokus på etnicitet och genus. Analysmetoden är influerad av Paul Ricoeurs och Hans-Georg Gadamers tankar kring de hermeneutiska cirklarna förförståelse- förståelse samt förklaring- förståelse. Vi presenterar ett sätt att tolka barnböcker som läses mycket i förskolan. Förebilderna som kan urskiljas i böckerna kan ses som varierade i kön om än begränsade i kulturell mening.

Denna studie jämför euroskepticismen inom två europeiska partier, Socialdemokraterna iSverige och The Conservative and the Unionist Party i Storbritannien, i syfte att bidra tillsvaret på följande frågor: vilka faktorer är drivande i frågan om ett europeiskt storpartiseuroskepticism och vilka likheter respektive skillnader kan identifieras inom dylika partierseuroskepticism? Den teoretiska utgångspunkten är Paul Taggart och Aleks Szczerbiaksförklaringsmodell i vilken partibaserad euroskepticism definieras genom dess orsaker. Studienvisar vilka av dessa orsaker är giltiga för respektive parti och möjliggör att resultaten kanöversättas till europeiska partier i allmänhet. Studien handlar om pressfotografer i Sverige idag. Den blickar bakåt på debatten kring pressfotografer i historien, studerar pressfotografers arbete och diskuterar framtiden. Huvudfrågorna är:Vilka arbetsuppgifter ingår i en pressfotografs arbete?Hur har yrket förändrats de senaste 25 åren?Hur ser pressfotograferna på fotojournalistikens framtid?Metoderna har bestått av observationer, intervjuer och en enkätundersökning. Den första delen av resultaten gör nedslag på ett par bildredaktioner: Ingress Media, Nya Wermlands-Tidningen och Aftonbladet.

Många människor har husdjur som sällskap och fritidsintresse och allt fler forskare har på senare tid börjat intressera sig för husdjurets betydelse för människans livskvalitet. Antrozoologin är en relativt ny vetenskap där man ägnar sig åt att studera relationen mellan djur och människa. Man har i olika undersökningar kunnat visa att husdjur har en positiv effekt på människans fysiska och psykiska välbefinnande och att djuret höjer livskvaliteten för många (Enders-Slegers, Paul, Podberseck, Serpell, 2000). I denna uppsats undersöks sociala relationer och livstillfredsställelse hos äldre personer med och utan husdjur. Finns det något samband mellan ägande av husdjur, livstillfredsställelse och sociala relationer? Är äldre personer med husdjur mer nöjda med sina sociala relationer samt mer tillfreds med livet än äldre personer utan husdjur?
