Transportation constitutes a large part of the forest industry's raw material costs. Transport also contributes a significant proportion of the carbon dioxide emissions. In order to reduce both the cost and environmental impact different types of decision support are required. These, in turn, require extensive information about the road network and correct information on road Path selection and transport distances. In the development of national road data base for forestry (SNVDB) a road selection application has been included.

Det statliga järnvägsnätet som byggdes i Sverige under 1800-talets senare del har haft stor betydelse för landets tillväxt. Banornas sträckning och byggsätt gav upphov till livliga debatter i riksdagen som slutligen resulterade i det stambanenät som än idag ligger till grund för Sveriges transportinfrastruktur. Vilken spårvidd som skulle användas var en viktig fråga i debatterna, och att Sveriges statsbanor skulle ha en och samma spårvidd var långt ifrån självklart.Denna studie undersöker och analyserar varför de norrländska stambanorna slutligen kom att byggas med samma spårvidd som övriga landets stambanor, och därigenom bli en integrerad del av det statliga järnvägsnätet. Ursprungligen var de norrländska banorna tänkta att byggas med smalare spårvidd, något som skulle innebära att detta nätverk skulle ha isolerats från södra Sveriges. Detta beslut ändras emellertid innan byggandet påbörjats.Genom att kvalitativt studera riksdagsprotokollen från debatterna om järnvägen som byggdes mellan Storvik till Torpshammar och vidare till den norska riksgränsen för att ansluta till en norsk bana kommande från Trondheim, undersöks de argument som framfördes i debatten ur dels en sociopolitisk och dels en ekonomisk synvinkel.

AbstractThis study deals with preschool children's ideas about water in our body. Ten children with the age of four to five were interviewed individually, the interviews were qualitative. The children were also asked to draw their answers and answer questions about a picture that represented the excretory system. The results of my study show that children did not have any knowledge about the water being vital for us. Preschool children had no knowledge of why it is important to drink water.

This bachelor thesis is studying the development of Swedish law in relation with EU-law. There are two different points of view expressed in the theories of Europeanization. One that means EU makes a big influence on national policy, one that says Path-dependency will make the national policies differ. The case used in the study is discrimination on the ground of disability as regards employment. The aim of this paper is to describe how to measure welfare effect of the deregulation and increased competition of the public transport by railway in Sweden. The paper also includes a numerical example of how to measure the welfare effect. In our study we use public data from SJ regaring quantity and ticket prices for the period 1996 - 2005. We have used equivalent variation, EV, as the method to measure the welfare effect. We demonstrate how to derive the equation to calculate EV by starting with a Marschallian demand function.

Objective: The objective of this thesis is to investigate how Scania has attained success to establish on the Indian market and to inquire into the establishment process of Scania and their entrance in the Indian market. The thesis describes different factors such as the product, mode of entry, time of entry and choice of market that play a role when a company establishes and invest in a foreign market.Method: This thesis is limited to the process of establishing Scania on the Indian truck market. A qualitative approach has being utilized in this study, consisting of interviews withStaffan Sjöström, development manager at the R&D department, Koen Knoops, vice president at Financial Services and Henrik Fagrenius, former managing director for Scania in India. Data collection from various journals and articles have been conducted for the presentation of the number of sold newly registered trucks in comparison to the number of sold newly registered trucks in India by Volvo, Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland during 2010, 2011, 2012 and the first three quarters of 2013.Theory: With a starting-point in empirism, we have used a theoretical frame of reference to describe Scania´s establishment process. This project has been about illustration, text and format with illustration as the main communication Path.A study has been made of how these three elements interact, particularly how text and format affect the illustrations. The goal has been to create an illustrated story in a form of a book. The story is about the feeling of being alienated from other people and invites the reader to make their own interpretations. The main target audience has been the ones who is interested in illustration and storytelling, no matter of age.Colors has been inspired from animated movies and the natur. Various textures such as wood, fabric and metal for example has been scanned to create a rough feeling.

A well known optimization-problem of multiprocessor system is scheduling of tasks. In this paper I use a variant of previous known algoritm, (Fast Critical Path) for scheduling real-time tasks on a multiprocessor system. This is made in a simulation study in MATLAB. The system architecture is assumed to be a MIMD- machine, (Multiple Instruction stream Multiple Data stream) with bus-typologi and message-architecture. Scheduling was made on this system where the number of processors varying from five to ten.

There exist several known methods for calculation of radio coverage for ground-based systems. As far as we know there are no equivalent methods for the case of flying platforms when the altitudes and speeds are significantly different to those of ground-based systems. This thesis describes the theoretical concepts behind calculations of radio coverage for flying platforms. An investigation is made to sort out what is important and possible to employ in a model for simulations. A method is described and implemented in a program for evaluation of flying radio systems.
