This study has analyzed particel size distribution and needle content in chipped logging residuals (branches and tops) delivered to the district heating plant Ryaverket in city of Borås, Sweden. Two fuel assortments has been analyzed: Chipped logging residuals from pure softwood and from mixed fuel (connifers and broadleaves). The samples has been sieved at Linneaus University laboratory.The study of particle sizes indicates that only 53,2 % of delivered fuel is within the fuels specification (7? 45 mm). The report examines the factors which may be a contributing cause to the problems that are present when ferritic stainless steel are eddy current tested in a warm condition. The work is carried out at Fagersta Stainless AB in Fagersta which manufactures stainless steel wire. In the rolling mill there is an eddy current equipment for detection of surface defects on the wire. The ferritic stainless steels cause a noise when testing and this noise complicates the detection of defects.Because of this, a study was made of how the noise related to factors such as steel grade, temperature, size and velocity. By observing the signal and with the possibilities to change the equipment settings the capability to let a signal filter reduce the noise level were evaluated.

Landfill leachate contains a variety of contaminants and is created when rainwater percolates the landfill. For landfill management the leachate is the main issue that can cause problems to the environment. At the landfill of Fläskebo, Renova AB treats the leachate in a local treatment plant. The treatment consists of a chemical treatment step with chemical precipitation, flocculation, sedimentation and filtration, and a final step with a carbon and peat filter. Renova has to ensure that the condition of the leachate reaches the regulation set for the landfill before it is released to the recipient.

There are around 855 000 on-site sewage systems in Sweden and some 1 800 of these are located in the municipality of Sigtuna. The Sigtuna local authority has set the goal that all sewage systems with insufficient function should be improved before the end of year 2010. A malfunctioning on-site sewage system may cause three main problems: spreading of diseases, discharge of eutrophicating compounds and wastage of resources. The municipality strives to reduce these problems already at the stage of granting permits for installation of on site sanitation systems. The municipality has recently adopted new guidelines, which demands certain minimum reductions for different compounds. The guidelines also state that it is preferred that neighboring house-owners cooperate in jointly built and operated sewage systems and that the system should be able to recycle plant nutrients.

Bakgrunden till föreliggande examensarbete är att lakvatten från upplag med till exempel hushållsavfall och industriavfall kan ha miljöstörande egenskaper. För karakterisering av lakvatten finns inte några fastställda allmänna metoder. På IVL, Institutet för Vatten- och Luftvårdsforskning, pågår ett projekt vars syfte är att utveckla en metodik med vilken lakvatten från avfallsupplag kan karakteriseras. Detta examensarbete utgör en del av karakteriseringen och syftar till att karakterisera lakvatten med hjälp av fraktionering efter partikelstorlek och multivariat modellering. Fraktioneringen grundade sig på en laborativ del baserad på tidigare utförda försök.

This essay focuses on the reception of Yahya Hassan?s debut YAHYA HASSAN in Swedish media, mainly daily newspapers. Following the work of Magnus Nilsson it analyzes the ?reading strategy of the politics of identity? in ?immigrant literature? and outlines structural racism in the literary scene. By bringing attention to the critics? use of this reading strategy, it is possible to unveil the ?ethnic filter? through which literature by Swedish authors with a ?non-Swedish identity? is being read in contemporary Swedish literary criticism.

Projektet syftar till att implementera ett digitalt frekvensutjämningsfilter för audioapplikationer i ett Atmel DE2 FPGA utvecklingskort. The reported prevalence of gastric ulceration differs from 5 to 100 % and it is a largeherd-to-herd variation.

Denna rapport ger en bild över luftfilteroch dess funktioner. Syftet med arbetet var att undersöka hur elektriskt ledande luftfilter tillsammans med en joniseringsenhet fungerar samt hur de står sig i förhållande till de mekaniska.Det låg även i syftet att titta på hur andra parametrar påverkar filtrering såsom tjocklek och innehåll av olika andel konduktivt material. Bakgrunden till arbetet var att VokesAir AB hade testat att tillverka elektriskt ledande filter med jonisering i filtret vilket hade fungerat i lite skala men inte i större. Det gjorde att man i detta arbete ville titta på om det kunde fungera om man satte joniseringen utanför filtret istället. Nio stycken luftfilter tillverkades i ennon-woven konstruktion med olika andel konduktivt material och i olika tjocklekar.

Platelets are small fragments, but they are of crucial importance for the coagulation. The risk of spontaneous bleeding increases when the level of platelets falls below a thrombocyte particle concentration threshold value of 50 x 109/L. In those cases a platelet transfusion might be compulsory. Ongoing research tries to improve the quality of the platelets and to increase the safety of the method used. However, we still need to better understand which factors that affect how patients react upon platelet transfusion.

I dagens högteknologiska samhälle kryllar hemmen av datorer i olika former. Fler och fler använder en smartphone dagligen och inser kanske inte vilken datorkraft som finns inuti det de håller i handen. I detta arbete presenteras tillämpning av signalbehandlingsteknik (DSP) som har potentialen att på ett effektivt sätt sänka kostnaden för tillverkning av högtalare genom att kombinera dessa med ett filter som kontinuerligt kompenserar för högtalarens tillkortakommanden och skavanker i ljudåtergivning med hjälp av en dator.I detta arbete väljs komponenter och konstruktioner för högtalare inte bara efter prestanda. En avvägning görs mellan å ena sidan vad som gör högtalaren så billig som möjligt att bygga, och å andra sidan vilka av konstruktionens prestanda som är möjliga att optimera i efterhand med DSP. Därefter används digital signalbehandling för att kompensera de brister som finns och på så sätt återskapa den ljudkvalitet som förväntas av högtalaren.I denna rapport beskrivs arbetet med en prototyp som är framtagen enkom för användning tillsammans med DSP.
