Background: When someone suffers a spinal cord injury, the nerve impulses between the brain, the muscles and the skin are intercepted, thereby resulting in motion and sensory loss.  During the recovery process, healthcare professionals play a vital role in ensuring that the patients have a positive experience of care, recovery and rehabilitation.Aim: The aim of this study is to determine how patients at a rehabilitation clinic in Sweden experienced the following: The patient?s experience of how well they were received by staff, the staff?s ability to explain and inform the patient of important details concerning their care and the staff?s ability to involve the patients in their own care.Method: A qualitative interview approach was used when undertaking this study. Six patients at the rehabilitation clinic were interviewed, and the interviews were later analyzed using qualitative content analysis.Result: The collected material was divided into ten categories that were sorted into three subheadings: reception of staff, information and involvement. Reception of staff, with categories: helpfulness, commitment, consideration, professionalism and reception. Information, with categories: if the patients felt well-informed.

Background: An increasing number of operations on children are performed as day surgery and this experience of health care may affect future hospital stays. The aim of this qualitative study was to describe children´s experiences in connection with day surgery. Method: Ten children aged six to fifteen who had gone through general anesthesia at examinations or surgery were interviewed and the content was analyzed by systematic text condensation. Result: The core category ?From uncertainty to relief with newly acquired experience? could summarize the result of this interview study.

The purpose of my study is to find out which way the extended school staff has their knowledge about conflicts, what they think is the cause of a conflict and how they handle conflicts.To answer these questions, I have chosen to do interviews with an available group. I interviewed six persons of different gender, age, nationality and they have been working from three to twenty years at afterschool care.I have analyzed my empirical material using Szklarkis four causes of a conflict and Malténs strategies for conflict management.My conclusion is that the after-school staff's knowledge is mostly based on experience, partly through work with children group in afterschool care and as a youth leader in the voluntary sector. The strategy almost always used for the after-school staff were the collusion strategy.

Aim: To examine the reaction of extreme preterm infants with regarding to body temperature and transepidermal water loss during skin-to-skin care according to Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) during the infant?s first week of life. Method: This was a descriptive quantitatively designed study, which was a pilot study within the framework of a larger project. Nine children, with a median gestational age of 24.91 weeks, were examined by measuring body temperature (axilla and skin temperature) as well as transepidermal water loss before, during and after KMC. Results: The study showed that skin temperature tended to rise during KMC, especially for those children who were nursed with KMC for more than 60 minutes.

Bakgrund: En litteraturgenomgång av aktuell forskning visar bristande riktlinjer för samarbete och ansvarsfördelning mellan föräldrar och sjuksköterskor i den palliativa vården av barn. Det framkommer kunskapsbrister kring vilka behov föräldrar har under barnets palliativa vårdtid och hur de på bästa sätt kan stödjas. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa föräldrars upplevelser av sin relation med sjuksköterskan under den tid deras barn vårdas palliativt. Metod: Empirisk studie med kvalitativ ansats. Med modifierad innehållsanalys analyserades berättelser från tio bloggar skrivna av föräldrar till svårt sjuka barn.

The main purpose of this study was to examine how social workers interpret and legally practice the 6 § LVU (Care of Young Person´s Act) in regards to legal cer-tainty. The papers intention was to investigate and describe the legal scopes limits and deficiencies, linked to practical social work. The study was composed on a legal dogmatic method which implies to examine the law and its elaboration. The investi-gation was based on different court rulings of care of youths according mostly to 6 § LVU. Perusal and interpretation of the rulings have been necessary in order to clarify the issues.

Syfte: Syftet med litteraturöversikten var att beskriva anhörigas upplevelser av att vårda sin närstående i den palliativa vården i hemmet. Metod: Studien genomfördes som en litteraturöversikt. Insamlingen av vetenskapliga artiklar utfördes på databaserna CINAHL, PubMed, Vård I Norden och manuella sökningar utfördes i elektroniska tidskrifter. I resultatet användes sammanlagt 15 kvalitativa artiklar som svarade mot litteraturöversiktens syfte och frågeställning. Bedömningsmall med kvalitativ inriktning användes för att granska artiklarnas kvalité.

  ?this Unpleasent klientel?A study on refugee care in Växjö between the years 1944 and 1947.The purpose of this study was to examine the treatment of sick refugees in Växjö in the 1940s. To achieve this a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods were used. The material found in the local archive and local newspaper was then put together and analyzed from the theoretical perspective, gender, class, ethnicity and social status.The result of this study shows that there were two main treatment wards for refugees, one that was supposed to treat women and children with active tuberculosis and the other ward treated refuges with ?epidemic diseases.? Foreign citizens were also taken care of in other words that were also not meant for refugees only, like the Epidemic hospital, which treated about 80 patients of a foreign nationality between 1944 and 1946.

Palliativ vård och omsorg till äldre är den viktigaste arbetsuppgiften inom äldreomsorg och kommunal hälso- och sjukvård och grundar sig på ett palliativt förhållningssätt utifrån hörnstenarna symtomlindring, teamarbete, kommunikation och stöd till närstående. En betydelsefull yrkeskategori i denna vård och omsorg är omsorgsassistenter som är den personal som utför den nära och dagliga vården och omsorgen till den äldre personen. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva omsorgsassistentens olika sätt att erfara, uppfatta och förstå palliativ vård och omsorg i livets slutskede, till äldre personer, utifrån svåra vård- och omsorgssituationer.Metod: Kvalitativ ansats med fenomenografisk metod har använts. Specifikt för fenomenografi är att finna en grupp individers olika uppfattningar kring ett fenomen. Tio intervjuer med omsorgsassistenter har genomförts.Resultat: I resultatet framkom två skilda beskrivningskategorier; Att befinna sig mellan den döende och dennes närstående och Att möta och hantera den döendes tankar, känslor och symtom.

AbstractThis essay contains a comparison between principals and supervisors within the Health-care and is focused on their view regarding their own leadership. It contains a comparison between their respective models for leadership and how to evolve as a leader within these two organizations.The study is carried out as in dept interviews with four principals and four supervisors.The results show that the principals have a sufficient education and a broad network, but they need the opportunity to a personal development within their leadership. On the other hand, within the Health-care, the supervisors stand on a good base of education where focus lies on the personal development within the leadership. However, they need more opportunities to build up their networks.The conclusion that can be drawn is that these two organisations would gain on learning from each other, in order to establish as good conditions as possible to improve the leaderships within their own organization..

Many organizational changes have been accomplished in elder care since the 1980's and many of those have been influenced by market mechanisms. The purpose of this study is to examine how the implementation of these market mechanisms has affected three important aspects in the work situation for personnel. These aspects are, demand, control and support. To attain the purpose of this study, five qualitative interviews with home care personnel have been carried out. The interview material has been analyzed and structured with the help of Karasek and Theorells demand-control-support model.

While the technological infrastructure that enables collaboration between municipalities, counties and private health care providers improves, so does the need for health-care providers to gain access to the right patient journal at the right time. For doctors, nurses and other health-care organization employees this goal is achieved by NPÖ, National Patient Summary. NPÖ effectively enables health-care records to be shared across organizational boundaries. This thesis is based on a demand by a mobile application that can give district nurses access to health-care records wherever they are.This thesis describes the development of a prototype of a mobile application aimed for NPÖ. This includes investigating a suitable mobile platform, investigating available card readers for reading electronic identification from SITHS cards and the ability to connect to external services such as NPÖ.

Fo?r att hantera dessa nya upplevelser tilldelas studenter en handledare som skall ge sto?d, undervisa och guida dem under den kliniska utbildningen.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att underso?ka sjuksko?terskestudenter uppfattning av mo?tet med palliativa patienter samt erha?llen handledning i samband med dessa mo?ten.Metod: Metoden till denna kvalitativa studie var tva? semistrukturerade fokusgruppsintervjuer med ett bekva?mlighetsurval av studenter som haft klinisk utbildning pa? hematolog, onkolog eller palliativ avdelning.Resultat:Va?rd av palliativa patienter eller patienter med cancer uppfattades som en sorglig, sva?r, obekva?m men la?rorik upplevelse.

The aim of the study was to investigate how a community motivates and ensures the implementation of its values and how this document affected personnel of meaning, vision and daily operations. The study was based on semi-structured interviews, in which nine respondents were interviewed in a city in southern Sweden. Interviews dealt with three different themes, all concerned organization or set of values. The analysis was based partly on how organizations and institutions build up and maintain their legitimacy. The analysis was also explained by the new institutional theory and its concepts isomorphism.
