The aim of this study is to investigate the components of religion and spirituality in the specific context of "Fryshuset" ? a multicultural and glocal arena. Against the backdrop of contemporary researchers such as Heelas and Woodhead and their hypothesis about the "spiritual revolution" and a "new spirituality", as well as the postmodern discussion about "the return of God", this study discusses how religious change can be understood in the context of Fryshuset.The theoretical point of departure is taken in a hermeneutical method where Fleck´s theory about "thought-collective" and Gidden´s theory about the "duality of structure" are used in order to understand and describe the dialectical relationship between individual and social structure.The method used in this study is qualitative. The interviews are made of six individuals representing different social projects at Fryshuset.By analyzing the material from the field study through theories on religious change, three areas are identified:"The subjective turn"Religion and spiritualityA Cosmopolitan interpretation of life The result of this study is that the religiosity among the interviewed can be described through Taylor?s understanding of the "subjective turn".

The Iranian artist Shirin Neshat has been living in self-imposed exile since the late 1970s, as she chose not to return to her home country following the ?79 Islamic Revolution. Through her works Neshat examines Iran before and after the revolution and follows political and civil transformations through strong photographs of women in her country of birth.  My own use of the term exile deals with the analysis of the state of exile in relation to artistic work as a globalized and underlying motivation for art and artists. The new definition of exile is analyzed in relation with the artist?s photographs and the verbal and visual statements.

The aim of this Master?s Thesis is to study readers and authors of Harry Potter fan fiction, in order to answer the question of why they read and write fan fiction about Harry Potter, and which factors determine what kind of fan fiction stories they read. The empirical material consists of three qualitative interviews with fan fiction readers and authors, and a textual analysis of four internet forums for discussions about Harry Potter and fan fiction. The theoretical background is based on reception theory and reader-response criticism. The results show, that commitment to, and interest in, the source material is an important reason as to why the participants of the study read and write Harry Potter fan fiction.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur förekomsten av olika typer av naturresurser tillsammans med andra teoretiskt relevanta variabler påverkar väpnade inomstatliga konflikter. Utifrån teoretisk och empirisk forskning testas två hypoteser som försöker förklara inbördeskrigens längd och utbrott. De ekonometriska modellerna består av 138 länder, två beroende och sju oberoende variabler och sträcker sig mellan åren 1960 och 1999. Resultaten tyder på att BNP per capita och befolkningsmängd uppvisar starka och signifikanta samband både vad gäller inbördeskrigets längd och uppstart. Ungdomsarbetslösheten påverkar endast inbördeskrigets längd.

Colours have been proven to have both a great physical and psychological impact on human beings. This essay investigates the rebranding of 37 Health Care Centers, located in Norrbotten, Sweden, and how 10 interviewees have experienced the new choice of colour on the logotypes of these Health Care Centers.The theoretical framework used in this research process, consists of theories related to rebranding, the communication process, encoding/decoding and Goethe?s Theory of Colours.To gather information about how the 10 inhabitants have experienced the new choice of colour, a semistructured form of interview was used. In addition to these interviews, three people employed by Norrbotten County Council (NLL) were interviewed, to get to know more about the rebranding process and the message behind the chosen colours of the logotype.Results show that the inhabitants had an overall positive reaction to the new colour choices, but that younger target groups lacked information about the new logotype and the rebranding.Due to these results, recommendations were made that NLL should expand the quantity of media channels to reach these younger target groups, and thereby be able to attract more patients to their Health Care Centers. NLL would also profit from investigating the inhabitants experiences related to the new colour choices themselves, but in a larger scale, to achieve greater knowledge of how to proceed with colour choices in the future..

Mitt intresse för historiska trädgårdar gjorde att jag för mitt examensarbete har valt att göra ett förslag till Jamtlis 70-talsområdes villaträdgård. On the 10th of February 2011 Hosni Mubarak gave his last speech as the president of Egypt, on the following day he resigned the presidency after more then two weeks of violent protests against his rule, and with that his 30-year long rule over Egypt had come to an end. This bachelor thesis aims towards examining this speech using both qualitative and quantitative research methods in order to reach a useful analysis of the speech. The conclusions of this thesis is that several methods were used in the speech in order to win the listeners acceptance and approval for the speaker, and then to use these in order to soothe, or preferably to completely stop, the current revolution. The methods that have been found to play major roles in achieving this are; portraying the speaker, defining the listener, promises of improvements and of justice/revenge, and nationalism. Sociala rörelser som utmanar den rådande ordningens etablerade värden och målsättningar formeras ständigt, och utverkar nya kamper, på den samhälleliga arenan. Allt för ofta ses dessa rörelser som något hotande, som uttryck för irrationella utbrott av affekt, snarare än som symptom på grundläggande samhälleliga konflikter och kontradiktioner, vars artikuleringar bör förstås i relation till samhället som en helhet, och till dess dominerande diskurser. Och allt för sällan ses värdet i den kunskap som skapas inom dessa rörelser, en kunskap som ofta brukar komma samhället till del, men även förskjuta de gränsdragningar som konstituerar kunskapen, makten och vetandet.Utifrån ett studium av Förbundet Kommunist, en liten organisation inom den svenska revolutionära 70-talsvänster som hade sina rötter i 60-talets studentuppror, den så kallade bokstavsvänstern, diskuteras dels, på ett mer generellt plan, hur man kan förstå fenomenet sociala rörelser, utifrån teorier som står i relation till en marxistisk problematik (med teoretiker som Antonio Gramsci, Louis Althusser, samt Chantal Mouffe och Ernesto Laclau). Dels diskuteras och undersöks hur denna organisations artikuleringar kan förstås, i sin historiska, sociala och diskursiva kontext, utifrån en symbolorienterad kulturanalys. Främst fokuseras på den leninistiska diskurs som organisationen verkade inom, samt den "proletarisering" som organisationens medlemmar företog.

This is a thesis on the Intranet use in the European Parliament. We investigated the use from a multilingual point of view, but also from a communication perspective. What we wanted to know was how a multilingual group, with presumably different computer skills, in the organisation handle the Intranet information. What are the positive and negative effects of a multilingual information exchange over an Intranet? To find out, we sent a questionnaire as an e-mail attachment to all members of a chosen committee and their assistants.

Under 1990-talet accelererade avvecklingen av det fasta kustartilleriet. Det skedde samtidigt med implementeringen av Revolution in Military Affairs(RMA)-konceptet i Sverige, snabb militärteknisk utvecklingen och Försvarsmaktens omställning från en stor organisation med lång mobilisering till insatsförsvar med hög beredskap. Syftet med studien är att med hjälp av argumentationsanalys och kvalitativ textanalys, studera relationen mellan RMA och avvecklingen av fasta kustartilleriet, genom analys av Kungliga Krigsvetenskaps Akademiens Handlingar och Tidskrifter. Resultatet visar att fast kustartilleri spelar en viktig roll även i en värld präglad av RMA och modern teknologi. Det fasta kustartilleriet ersattes av rörligt.
