Bakgrund: Årligen drabbas cirka 250 barn av cancer i Sverige, men betydligt fler berörs i barnets närhet. Ett cancerbesked är ofta starkt associerat med lidande och död, vilket leder till en stressfylld tillvaro för alla i familjen. Det är viktigt att sjuksköterskan ser till hela familjen och involverar dem i omvårdnaden, dels för att patienten ofta har ett starkt stöd att hämta från dem, men också för att delaktighet kan upplevas ge en viss kontroll över situationen. En annan fördel är att sjuksköterskan lättare kan upptäcka och ge det stöd som föräldrar och syskon behöver.Syfte: Att beskriva familjens upplevelse av att ha ett barn med cancersjukdom.Metod: Litteraturstudie med beskrivande design och modifierad innehållsanalys.Resultat: Att ha ett barn med cancer innebar en storm av känslor och en förändrad vardag, en händelse som upplevdes förändra livssituationen för all framtid. Föräldrarnas livsperspektiv blev annorlunda då de omvärderade mening och mål i livet.

Kroppens organ består av många miljoner celler, som har sin uppgift i det organ de befinner sig i. När en cell dör ersätts den med en ny som har samma uppgift. Cellerna samarbetar och kommunicerar via olika signaler, vilket är en förutsättning för att kroppen ska fungera. Cancercellerna delar på sig snabbt vilket leder till celltillväxt. cancer är den vanligaste dödsorsaken i Sverige, efter hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar.

Bakgrund: Människor som inkluderas i varandras liv har stor påverkan på varandra. Varje gång ett barn insjuknar i cancer drabbas således hela barnets familj. Familjerelationer och vardagen blir turbulent jämfört med den trygghet familjen vanligtvis erbjuder och de friska syskonen hamnar ofta i skymundan. Syskonen drabbas, till följd av situationen, utav såväl somatiska som psykologiska problem och kan behöva hjälp av stödinsatser för att kunna ta sig igenom vardagen. Syfte: Att beskriva resultatet av stödinsatser som finns för syskon till cancersjuka barn.

The use of a bit in the mouth of a horse is being increasingly questioned with respect to its actual function, and is sometimes judged an obsolete instrument of control with potential to injure the horse. The objective of the research presented herein was twofold; firstly, to investigate the actual pressure load in the mouth of the horse with regard to oral health issues, and, secondly, to investigate whether this could be a viable method to objectively measure strength exerted by a rider/driver to the mouth of the horse especially with regard to training regimes. From the results, it is evident that these newly developed sensors have a future in equine research, although they are still under development. They can be useful both as a pedagogic teaching instrument, providing instructor and pupil with instantaneous, objective feedback on the contact between hand and mouth, as well as an aid in measuring pressure loads from our common bits. .

Hjärntumör kan vara en kronisk sjukdom som påverkar människan på många olika sätt. Sjukdomens förlopp, behandling och prognos inverkar på den fysiska psykiska och sociala hälsan och därmed påverkar människors livskvalitet och välbefinnande. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva upplevelse av livskvalitet och att leva med hjärntumör hos vuxna människor. En beskrivande systematisk litteraturstudie användes för att analysera de elva vetenskapliga artiklarna. Analysen resulterade i fyra kategorier: fysiska förändringar medför svårigheter i det dagliga arbetet, känslomässig påfrestning innebär lidande, att känna dödsångest och att känna behov av socialt stöd.

The purpose of the study was to discover how nurses can maintain a good quality of life for cancerpatients at the end of life. We examined seven scientific articles in accordance with Polit, Beck & Hungler (2001) criteria for scientific validity. We used Carnevali's (1996) model of demand and resources as a frame of reference. The results showed that physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs affect quality of life in different ways. This thesis work aims to describe the prerequisites for a distributed treatment platform for real-time sharing of rounds performed by paediatric oncologists. The work started during the autumn 2004 and is directly aimed at improving the situation for the thirty or so specialist treating children with cancer. The work is not limited to the description of such a platform but also to select suitable software and hardware for the implementation of the platform and further more to coordinate the implementation. The production of several documents describing the platform is also part of this work. The intention of this study is to find out how the English subject takes form and develops in the early years in school related to the curriculum, teachers, teaching material, students and parents. The methods of the survey have been classroom observations, teacher interviews, textbook analysis and a parents´ questionnaire. The findings of this study are that the knowledge of the teacher in and about the English subject can have effect on how the English subject will be presented to the students during the English lessons and the amount of the students oral production of the target language seem to depended on how much the teacher uses the target language in the classroom. The contents of the English lessons was overall structured by the curriculum. The parents and their interest in their children´s education seem to have had an impact on how much focus the English language get.

Background: Sweden is a country where vitamin D deficiency seems to be common, partly because of its geographical position, which reduces the availability of UVB radiation, but also that people avoid sunlight due to increased skin cancer risk. Research shows that vitamin D plays an important role in the prevention of many diseases such as cancer as well as autoimmune and neuropsychiatric diseases.Vitamin D is a fat soluble pre-hormone and a collective name for closely related compounds which act as hormones after undergoing a transformation in the body.Humans can utilize vitamin D through diet and produce it in the body by exposing the skin to the sun. Previous observational studies and epidemiological studies have established a hypothesis that there seems to be an association between vitamin D supplementation and reduction of depressive symptoms.Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate if vitamin D supplements may decrease depressive symptoms.Methods: This work is organized as a literature review and article search is made in the database PubMed in January 2012. Keywords used were ?vitamin D and depression? and inclusion criteria were: randomized clinical trials, be conducted on humans, written in English.

This reportcommunicates the processes and results of my degree work in industrial design at candidate level at Umeå Institute of Design.During my degree work I had a cooperation with Svenska Jägareförbundet (Swedish Hunters Assosiation).The aim for my project has been to explore how I could make hunting a safer hobby and undertaking. Every year people get seriously injured and in average 2 people a year dies  due to hunting accidents. My goal is to identify problems within the hunters communication and approach. Through a creative design process I will find a valid  nd realistic solution to these problems. My project will be presented as a conceptual solution  hat will be based on currently existing technology.

Snow White through Grimm and Disney - A Comparative StudyThis essay attempts to discern the differences regarding six Swedish versions of the fairy-tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs over a period of 150 years. Focus is placed on structural transformations through time and media according to the analytical theories of Vladimir Propp. Attention is also given to former research done on the impact of the fairy-tale on the child from a psychological and social point of view. Of interest is the historical background of the tale, commencing with oral tradition, and how this was dealt with by the Grimm brothers.
