External Thoughts is a studio based project with its purpose to throughworkshops establish contacts and create a dialouge about the content of contemporarygraphic design. The project also aims to apply a design curaticalmethod where the designer is both client and contractor, client and designer.We also wanted to investigate the design content as open-source and examinethe school versus the Internet?s future role in the design and for thedesigner. Animerade filmer görs idag till störst del av stora företag som har en rejäl budget och arbetskraft. Är det möjligt att göra en hel animerad kortfilm ensam med hjälp av endast program som är gratis?. I det här examensarbetet redogörs om det är möjligt att göra en animerad kortfilm helt själv under begränsad tidsram och begränsade förutsättningar. Jämförelser mellan kommersiell programvara och open-source kommer att göras, där programmen jämförs som helhet och i sina individuella funktioner.

This Master's thesis aims at pinpointing the political arguments that appear in the recent debate on scientific publication. There is a widely spread opinion that prices on digital resources are far too high, thus taking up a major part of the University libraries budget, while publishing companies make high profits. It is also a common opinion that the current publishing method does not take full advantage of the possibilities of electronic publishing. Lately a number of alternative ways of publishing have been initiated and discussed, generally referred to as open access. Open access published material is available free of charge and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions on the public internet.In this thesis the minutes from four hearings held by the UK House of Commons in the spring of 2004 are examined.

Med denna uppsats vill vi ge läsaren en uppfattning om vad Free Software och OpenSource (FOSS) handlar om och mer specifikt analyseras huruvida FOSS kan fungera ien kapitalistisk värld eller inte. Den grundläggande idén med Free Software ochOpen Source, eller fri programvara och öppen källkod, är att ge varje användare avett datorprogram rätten att fritt köra, undersöka, ändra och vidaredistribueraprogrammet.Författarna ställer i uppsatsen frågan ?Hur kan pengar tjänas på FOSS?. Uppsatsensyftar till att försöka bena ut denna frågeställning. Frågeställningen ger upphov till tvåperspektiv; dels i meningen ?på vilka sätt kan man tjäna pengar på FOSS? och dels ibetydelsen ?hur kommer det sig att det går att tjäna pengar på FOSS då det är gratis?.Uppsatsen knyter an till litteratur kring FOSS samt ekonomisk teori och är främstteoretisk till sin natur.I uppsatsen visas att gamla beprövade affärsmodeller inte kan användas rakt av förföretag som använder eller utvecklar produkter baserade på Open Source.

TV 4 was the first channel to send commercial in Swedish television.TV has the advantage of showing both sound and picture, which makes TV the strongest channel of communication to mediate a message between a company and the consumer. Although TV-commercial is the most expensive choice to mediate a message, it is also the most effective one. (Persson, 1993)Almost everyone is exposed to TV-commercial daily.

One cannot any longer rely on traditional advertising, one needs to be more creative and rethink the possibilities to get through the media noise.

Open ecosystems, such as grasslands and pastures, have naturally been shaped by disturbances like fire and grazing. These processes play a crucial role in creating habitats with high biological diversity, particularly favourable for a wide range of herbaceous plant species. In recent years, many of these disturbances have ceased, leading to encroachment, fragmentation and habitat loss. The aim of this study was to examine and compare the effects of fire, herbivory and a combination of fire and herbivory on the emergence of herbaceous plants. The study was conducted at the Ecopark at Nordens Ark.

The purpose of this study is to see how five different local radio stations, P4, within the public service organization Sveriges Radio communicate with their listeners through Facebook and how they differ from each other.We have also studied how the radio stations follow Sveriges Radios? policies for socialmedia usage and how the communication through Facebook can benefit thetraditional radio. Our study contains a combination of quantitative content analysis with qualitative interviews. We studied the five stations? Facebook pages from for the quantitative content analysis and interviewed those who were responsible for the social media pages, such as web editors and channel managers.Our conclusions are that the P4-stations communicate through Facebook to create a dialogue with the listeners and to reach two-way communication; the stations published mostly written updates that encouraged interactivity.

The aim with this independent degree project of master thesis is to find what the user opinions of the intranet in a county council is. The paper seeks how the question about how the culture in the organisation was affected by the use of the intranet. An important part is to explore the expectations and acceptance of the intranet and get a picture of which functions and services support day-to-day work with good quality. One goal is to find out how the intranet users feel that the communication, information and usability can be developed.The focus group interview is a qualitative method that has been applied for gathering data from the respondents, who participate in the investigation from the county council. The used method is unstructured focus groups containing the three dominating categories of staff in the county council.

Most of the saw and pulp industries have stored wood nearby their production, the main reason is to have a continuous wood flow to the production. Wet storage of wood is of great importance to keep the wood quality. Without water sprinkling the risk of drying outand decomposition through biological activity increases significantly and will result in a negative effect on future production and quality. One drawback of wet storage of wood is the leaching of chemical substances into the surrounding recipient. The log yard run-off contains phosphorus, nitrogen, phenols and organic substances. These substances can cause problems for the surrounding environment. The main objective of this project is to gain an understanding of the wet storage used by the Swedish wood industry and estimate the environmental consequences that run-off water will have on the recipient.

Denna rapport jämför ett kommersiellt site survey-verktyg med ett open sourcealternativ.En site survey är processen att planera och implementera ett trådlöstnätverk. Det är viktigt för att undvika problem med täckning, störningar samtplacering och konfigurering av accesspunkter.För att göra jämförelsen har en metod utvecklats för att jämföra site survey-verktyg. Metoden tar upp och jämför olika kriterier i form av verktygens förmåga att hantera signalstyrka, störningar, quality of service, manuella site surveys, virtuella site surveys, dokumentering av resultat samt verktygens förmåga att underlätta vid placering och konfigurering av accesspunkter. Förutom detta tas även mjukvarornas gränssnitt och användarvänlighet upp. Metoden skulle dock kunna utökas ytterligare för att innefatta t ex säkerhet, inlärningstid och support, för att på så sätt bidra till en bättre jämförelse.De verktyg som har jämförts är open source-mjukvaran Kismet och den kommersiella mjukvaran InterpretAir.InterpretAir har visat sig ha en bättre funktionalitet på alla punkter och anses därför vara den mest lämpliga mjukvaran vid en site survey.

For centuries Islam and Muslims have been subject to islamophobic attitudes in the west. The purpose with this study was to see into the making of open and closed attitudes against Islam and Muslims from a conflict in southern Thailand, and also to so see if Muslims are portrayed as more violent than the Buddhist groups in the conflict. The aim of the study is also to see if Muslims fall into a violent stereotype. This was studied by looking at five Swedish newspapers coverage of the conflict, during a given time. To be able to look into this, two theories will be used, the first one is the Runnymede Trust theory, which is about open and closed attitudes against Islam and Muslims.

Vi lever i en dynamisk värld med snabba förändringar och ett tydligt exempel är fordonsindustrin som ständigt strävar efter ökad fordonssäkerhet. Av den orsaken att vi som förare förlitar oss allt mer på den uttalade fordons­säkerheten färdas vi per automatik allt snabbare och tar större risker.Hög hastighet i kombination med tyngre fordon, avancerade ramkonstruktioner samt användning av högteknologiska material leder till allvarliga trafikolyckor med komplicerade och tekniskt svåra räddningsinsatser som följd.Koncist stärker dagens fordonsutveckling behovet av allt starkare och kraft-fullare räddningsverktyg. Vilket i sin tur innebär en större arbetsbelastning på räddningspersonal i form av större och tyngre verktyg.Med ovanstående faktorer i åtanke behandlar följande arbete vidareutvecklingen av ett hydrauliskt räddningsverktyg, med användare och olycksoffer i fokus, för företaget NIKE Hydraulics AB i Eskilstuna..

Klättring är en växande sport som kräver jämn balans av styrka, teknik och psyke. I dagslägetsker klättertävlingar och de hårdaste utomhuslederna på branta överhängande väggar med smågrepp. God fingerstyrka är nödvändigt att ha när klättring utövas för att kunna hålla sig kvar igreppen, som består av lister, på väggen. Då dessa lister tas används en greppteknik somkallas för crimpteknik. Det går att hålla i listen i denna teknik med tre olika positioner, closedcrimp, open crimp och open hand.Syftet med denna studie är att kartlägga skillnader mellan olika test av prestationsförmåga ochcrimputhållighet, undersöka vilken crimpposition som går att hänga längst i samt utforskakorrelationen hängtid i crimp med styrkeövningar.Tjugotvå manliga klättrare rekryterades och indelades efter inrapporterat personbästa i tregrupper (elit, avancerad och normal).

This essay deals with the subject area social media, focusing on the channel Instagram. The topic is chosen because of it´s popularity in today's digital communications landscape, and also keeping in mind that there is a great lack of previous studies on the subject. The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into how companies should handle images on the social media channel Instagram by testing two different strategies against each other.
