Communication is essential for the survival of an organization. The management formulates strategies to ensure thatthe organization will get to where they want it to go. The strategy is then communicated to the co-workers through the line manager. But who is to say that the co-worker experience the message the same way as the line manager or the management for that matter? The purpose of this study is toinvestigate how the middle managers at Southern Älvsborg Hospital experience strategic internal communication andfurther how they communicate with their co-workers.Through a case study approach, the case being the communication of the hospitals research strategy, I conducted 13 interviews.I analyzed the material from the interviews using a hermeneutical approach and I used an interpretative approach to get a deeper understanding.

The goal of this project was to make the requirement process at the Swedish Coastguard more effective. The first step to achieve this was done by locating bottle necks in the process with value stream mapping method. The result of this study showed that the biggest restriction in the requirement process was while examining older requirement documents to understand what elements were suitable for the particular project. This was followed by a study of literature, interviews and theory of Lean Production with the ambition to investigate how the requirement process was handled on other companies and how to improve the process on the Swedish coast guard. This led to a number of potential enhancements of the process which later was evaluated. Requirements written by different people in different organizations were analyzed in order to sort out if there were some similarities? which could be used as standard elements in a future standardization of the process.

The purpose of this examination was to find how supervisors interpreted the termsvocational identity and vocational culture, found in the diploma goals in workplace-based learning at the Child- and Recreation Programme. To reach the purpose, I formulated questions that I answered through a qualitative study. I made six interviews with pre-school teachers who had been supervisors for students at the Child- and Recreation Programme. The informants answered the same questions and the answers were recorded. The result of the study showed that the supervisors made a fairly consistent interpretation of the terms.

Bakgrund: Smärta är ett flerdimensionellt fenomen och ett vanligt problem inom äldrevården. Smärtbehandling finns att tillgå, trots detta är smärta underbehandlat hos äldre patienter.Syftet: Syftet med studien är att belysa hur sjuksköterskor bedömer fysisk smärta i omvårdnad av äldre patienter.Metod: Litteraturöversikt med kvalitativ ansats har använts. Datamaterialet bestod av fem kvantitativa och fyra kvalitativa vetenskapliga artiklar.Resultat: Det framkom tre huvudkategorier: smärtbedömningsprocesser, smärtbedömningsmetoder och smärtbedömningsredskap. Ur huvudkategorierna urskildes sex underkategorier: smärtidentifiering, smärtbedömningssvårigheter, kommunikation med patienterna för att bedöma smärta, smärtobservation, smärtbedömningsinstrument och dokumentation.Slutsatser: För att göra en smärtbedömning behövs en god relation till patienten, närstående och övrig personal där kommunikation har central roll. Sjuksköterskan måste tro på patientens egen skattning och smärtupplevelse..

Bakgrund: Trotts att handledningen anses vara en vital del av psykoterapeutisk utbildning, är inte utbildning av handledare en självklarhet, och mera forskning behövs kring vad som utgör en bra handledarutbildning.Syfte: Den här undersökningen hade för huvudsyfte att analysera eventuella förändringar i handledarstil hos en handledarkandidat under S:t Lukas utbildningsinstitutets handledarutbildning 2008-2009.Metod: Materialet bestod av transkriberingar av handledarens tre handledningstimmar med den handledde terapeuten från början av handledarutbildningen, och tre från slutet. Med hjälp av grundad teori togs fram kategorier som beskrev handledarstilen ur fyra aspekter: styrning, allians, inlärningsstil, och fokus.Resultat: Jämförelse mellan handledarstilen i början och vid slutet av utbildningen visade på en ökad aktivitet hos handledaren, fr.a. i undersökning och hållandet av fokus på viktiga teman. Tydliggörande minskade. Mot slutet av utbildningen ökade också handledarens tillit på alliansen, som tålde mer brott.

Bakgrund: Media är idag en av övervakarna inom bolagsstyrningen och forskning visar på att det är den viktigaste övervakaren för att förmedla information till allmänheten. Det finns dock tvetydig och motsägelsefull forskning kring effektiviteten i medias övervakning, då det kan finnas incitament till att inte rapportera på ett opartiskt och oberoende vis. Denna studie kommer granska medias rapportering, för att öka förståelsen för dess rapportering och huruvida det är en fungerande övervakare eller inte.Syfte: Att öka förståelsen kring om media fungerar som en övervakare inom bolagsstyrning och i sådant fall hur.Metod: Studien har en deduktiv forskningsansats där vi genomfört en komparativ flerfallstudie bestående av medias rapportering från fem svenska företagsskandaler, där rapporteringen hämtats från fyra av de största tidskrifterna i Sverige. Det empiriska underlaget har analyserats med hjälp av en analysmodell som beskriver stigmatiseringsprocessen och denna har underlättat behandlingen av det insamlade empiriska underlaget.Resultat: Studien visar på tendenser att media fungerar som en övervakare i en svensk bolagsstyrningskontext, då dess rapportering överensstämmer med de kriterier som en övervakare bör följa..

The purpose of this report has been to seek answers to the above-mentioned questions, through partly describing how the employer?s obligation to negotiate has developed, and partly describing how the codes of negotiations in the Employment (Co-Determination in the Workplace) Act of 1976 are raised and applied.

Syftet med denna forskningsöversikt är att undersöka hur makt och maktrelationer beskrivsoch teoretiseras i forskningen mellan socialsekreterare och klient med fokus på klientensbeskrivningar. Denna studie är en integrativ och kvalitativ forskningsöversikt med enabduktiv ansats, där 29 tidigare studier har tematiserats och analyserats med hjälp av maktensfyra ansikten. Studien påvisar att maktbegreppet är ett komplext och svårdefinierat begrepp.Studien visar hur makten kan betraktas utifrån maktens fyra ansikten inom det sociala arbeteti mötet mellan klienten och socialsekreteraren. Vidare diskuteras rekommendationer gällandemaktaspekten för det sociala arbetet utifrån olika studier samt rekommendationer för fortsattforskning. Det är viktigt att klienternas perspektiv, såsom upplevelsen av makt och kontroll,tas upp angående deras möte med de professionella.

Over the past two decades, trends of integration processes in terms of citizens of different ethnicities, different gender and different sexual belongings, etc. has grown thanks to debates and new legislations. A marginalized and discriminated group in society such as women, immigrants, homosexuals, transsexuals and people with disabilities during this time has gained momentum in the community. The curiosity over whether these developments have changed our attitudes and values to the world around us, and if so how, is the reason for this master's thesis in disability studies.The Swedish development forms the basis for my belief on a younger generation of people who would be more tolerant than previous generations, in terms of what is considered to belong to the norm in our society, or not. The purpose of this study is therefore to increase knowledge about what beliefs young people today have about people with disabilities.

This qualitative study aims to highlight if there are any gender difference in social workers reasoning about a particular case. To achieve a deeper understanding we had to explain and understand our respondent?s answers, primarily from a gender perspective, but also from a power perspective. Our questions were: how does social worker reasoning about a particular case? How can we understand the social workers answer from a gender- and power perspective? The method consisted of a construct case and of semi-structured interviews.

The vision of this thesis was to create a concept that can be used as a base for amachine construction. The purpose of this project was to use different methods todevelop a concept that on the best way meets the sat up requirements. This projecthas been divided into three stages/parts; principle, primary and the final solutionstage.This thesis has been conducted in collaboration with Västkustägg AB. The general objective of this qualitative study is to analyse and describe what people with psychiatric disabilities write on their blogs about their encounters with social workers. The questions the study is aiming to answer are: How do people with psychiatric disabilities describe their encounters with social workers? Do the informants describe instances of paternalism and advocacy? How do the informants describe their sense of meaningfulness, comprehensibility and manageability? The study is based on a theoretical framework in which empowerment and sense of coherence (SOC) are the key elements, along with the concepts of paternalism and advocacy as well as meaningfulness, comprehensibility and manageability.  Performance appraisals- a study of the performance appraisals significance as a tool for development in the public sector.Anders Larsson and Åsalill OlssonPerformance appraisals have been given a central role in leading businesses in the public sector and are seen as a tool to create development opportunities and achieve better results. This has resulted that performance appraisal in many organizations takes up capacity and time. This was the starting point of our interest to study whether the time spent on performance appraisals effectively pays for itself in the organization, in other words whether the effects expected actually are achieved. The paper examines first line managers` views on staff appraisal purposes and effects of a function within the Landstinget. The survey design, methodology and transaction are of qualitative and quantitative method with three different sources: literature review of previous research, interviews with first line managers in Landstinget Västmanland and the results from an employee satisfaction survey conducted on behalf of Landstinget Västmanland.
