Skiascopy is used to objectively determine the refractive power of the eye. Except for a Swedish study in 2007, where 93 horses of different breeds and ages were examined with respect to their refractive status, most studies on equine refraction were published about one century ago or more. The objective of this study is to examine the refractive status of healthy warm-blooded trotting horses. Skiascopy was performed in 117 horses in total, aged 3 days to approximately 22 years old. In a pilot study, it was determined whether young horses were able to accommodate or not during skiascopy. The horses in the pilot study were all younger than 14 months. In foals younger than 1,5 months we saw a significant difference in the skiascopy result in the right eyes before and after topical atropine was instilled, but not in the left eye.

Tidigare studier har fokuserat på de fysiska, psykiska och sociala effekterna djur har på människor.Syfte: Syftet med denna litteratur studie är att undersöka vilken betydelse sällskapsdjur har i omvårdnaden av den äldre människan.Metod: Till denna litteraturstudie samlades data in från databasernaCinahl och Swemed. I studien användes metodprocessens åtta steg enligt Polit och Beck (2004). Tre kategorier framkom ur analysen. Dessa tre kategorier var: sällskapsdjurs betydelse för den äldre människan, sällskapsdjur som terapi och problem som kan uppstå för den äldre människan som vill umgås med djur.Resultat: Resultaten visar att sällskapsdjur har en viktig roll för många äldre människor.

Purpose: From an activity-perspective examine the meaning of housing accessibility and older persons´ perception of participation. Method: Systematic literature review of articles searched in the databases, Medline, Pubmed, Ahmed, Cinahl, Scopus and Google Scholar. Search on individual keywords, and in various combinations of the words home environment, home modification, occupational therapy, aging, accessibility and participation. Nine scientific articles were examined. Results: The articles were published between 2005 and 2009.

Today's urban centers become denser, which contributes to higher demands on sound and noise. It is therefore highly relevant to build homes with good sound environment while maintaining living space. This thesis aimed to reduce the current concrete walls and see how the mass law affects the reduction index value and flanking transmissions. Handmade calculations were calculated according to the Swedish standard SS-EN 21354-1, where only air sound was calculated.Calculations we­­­re performed on wall elements with different weights and thicknesses, and compared with results from Bastian.In Bastian calculations of flanking transmissions were also made, this was made to see the impact of the flanking transmission when changing the mass per unit area. Mass law's impact was examined by flanking transmission and the result shows that they are not affected as long as the ratio between the thickness and the density remains the same.A questionnaire survey was conducted to determine the actual sound experience; this questionnaire was conducted on three concrete buildings in Växjö.

Syftet med studien var att beskriva äldre personers erfarenheter av aktiviteter efter pensionering. Då författarna ville lyfta fram erfarenheter valdes en kvalitativ metod. Åtta intervjuer utfördes med pensionärer boende i en kommun i södra Sverige. Intervjumaterialet analyserades utifrån en kvalitativ manifest innehållsanalys vilket resulterade i tre kategorier: Förändringar av aktivitetsmönster i samband med pensionering, Pensionärers utförande av dagliga aktiviteter samt Betydelsen av att vara aktiv. Resultatet från de tre kategorierna visade hur aktivitetsmönstret förändrades efter pension och deltagarna beskrev att det var viktigt att ha aktiviteter att sysselsätta sig med på dagarna.

Det övergripande syftet med studien har varit att skildra hur personal på fyra kommunala äldreboenden definierat begreppet värdegrund samt hur de tillämpat den i det praktiska arbetet med de äldre. I studien har begreppen KASAM, Empowerment samt en problematisering av värdegrundskomponenterna använts för att analysera resultaten av interjuverna. Resultat av studien visade på att det finns en enighet bland personalen i hur man definierar värdegrundskomponenter. De gav dock samtidigt uttryck för komplexiteten i att komponenterna kan ha flera betydelser, vara nära besläktade och i vissa fall motsägelsefulla. Personalen såg på begreppen som mål för sitt arbete och menade på att uppfyllelse av målen genererar en bättre hälsa och välbefinnande för den äldre.

Syftet med litteraturstudien var att undersöka den orala hälsans påverkan på ätandet hos äldre personer.Vetenskapliga artiklar söktes i databasen PubMed med begränsning till artiklar inom tidsperioden 2000-2010, åldersgruppen 60 år och äldre. Totalt 11 artiklar inkluderades i studien.Resultatet visade att försämrad munhälsa, nedsatt tuggförmåga, många saknade tänder, smärta och obehag i munnen, illasittande tandproteser och muntorrhet ger problem med ätandet. Detta leder till att äldre med försämrad oral hälsa ändrar på sina val av livsmedel och ofta avstår från livsmedel som är problematiska att äta på grund av svårigheter med att tugga och svälja eller rädsla för att orsaka ytterligare skada på bräckliga tänder. Studiens slutsats är att en genomgång av litteraturen visade att äldre människor med nedsatt oral status hade risk för ätsvårigheter. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva förebyggande omvårdnadsåtgärder vid ventilatorassocierad pneumoni (VAP), vilket är en form av pneumoni som är sjukhusförärvad och relaterad till att patienten är intuberad, så kallad nosokomial infektion. Längre vårdtid, ökad kostnad samt mortalitet ses vid VAP. Resultatet som framkom var att personal ska ha god handhygien vilket var en av viktigaste åtgärden för att förebygga VAP. Andra förebyggande omvårdnadsåtgärder är att vårdpersonal ska hjälpa patienten som vårdas i respirator med munvården och använda hjälpmedel för detta. Today, the hospital has difficulties to deal with theolder children patients at the hospital in a good way because the expression that is there today,mostly only appeals to the younger patients. Previously, there has been some kind of decorationon the department and the staff thought that this is boring, is a problem in that in many placesthere are stickers of child characters posted on the walls. This and other installations that cut outletters, face off, and symbols have made sense in the department becomes fragmented, ill andchildish.
