The purpose of this master thesis is to examine if booktalk is a good method for stimulating reading based on interviews and observations with two classes of pupils in the intermediate level of the Swedish nine-year compulsory school. Our aim is also to study the reading environment regarding of Aidan Chambers' factors about what is indispensable for a good environment for the children. The factors are: Time for reading, time for reading aloud, the stock of books and conversations about books. The study is based on interviews with 38 pupils, two booktalkers and two teachers in two different cities. It also contains two observations of booktalk.

Att sjuksköterskor ställer giltiga omvårdnadsdiagnoser är betydelsefullt för att patienter ska få den omvårdnad som de behöver. Trots att denna förmåga är något som sjuksköterskeutbildningen är ålagd att utrusta blivande sjuksköterskor med är omvårdnadsdiagnostisk förmåga inte utrett hos sjuksköterskestudenter. Inget verktyg för att mäta denna förmåga finns tillgänglig i Sverige idag. Syftet med denna metodologiska studie var att utveckla ett verktyg som avsåg mäta omvårdnadsdiagnostisk förmåga. Genom kognitiva intervjuer, i dialog med experter samt genom att studenter och sjuksköterskor testade att genomföra en omvårdnadsdiagnostisk uppgift utifrån två patientfall utvecklades verktyget stegvis.

Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the nurse?s work at an emergency department trough a perspective of caring.Method: A literature review has been made of twelve studies published between the years of 2002 ? 2012. The focus of all the studies was on Swedish emergency departments.  Results: The researchers found four themes that they choose to use as a way of describing the nurses work in the emergency room as detailed as possible. These themes were: ?The emergency room?, ?the nurse?s job assignments at an emergency department?, ?the patient?s experiences? and ?lifeworld and communication?.

Bakgrund: Globaliseringen gör att den kulturella kompetensen hos sjuksköterskan är viktig. Studier har visat att sjuksköterskestudenter som varit på internationellt utbyte och haft sin verksamhetsförlagda utbildning (VFU) i utland utvecklat en kulturell medvetenhet och personlig utveckling. Få studier har undersökt hur utbytet påverkat studenters professionella utveckling i rollen som sjuksköterska. Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskestudenters uppfattning om vad de lärt sig under VFU i utland som de tror har betydelse för deras framtida omvårdnadsarbete. Metod: Studien hade en kvalitativ ansats med en deskriptiv karaktär.

There is a growing interest for ethical consumption, in general as well as in the clothing industry. The consumption of ethical clothes is a complex phenomenon though, where aspects such as quality, style, function, price, time assets, accessibility and ethical attitudes affect the decision making. Researches that have been executed show the diversities in development between different countries. There are fairly strong indications that the ethical clothing market is more advanced in the United Kingdom than in Sweden and therefore these two countries are objects of this research. The aim with this thesis is to describe and explain what have affected the development of the ethical clothing market in the United Kingdom compared to Sweden. For that reason a qualitative approach has mainly been used, where deep interviews with people within the ethical clothing industry have contributed to most of the empirical part. As a complement secondary data such as statistics of the two countries have been used in order to investigate our area. One useful tool, among others, to investigate the macro environment is the SLEPT model.

Miljön på en vårdavdelning kan både främja hälsa och ha en ogynnsam verkan. Omvårdnad är ett universellt fenomen men kulturen formar människans syn på hälsa och även hur hälsa kan uppnås. Sjukvården i Thailand präglas av buddhismen. Syfte: Beskriva miljön kring patienter på två somatiska vårdavdelningar i Bangkok.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to investigate teachers´attitudes to and work with outdoor education in preschool. The aim is also to identify the opportunities and barriers that exist to conduct outdoor education. In my research I have interviewed six preschool teachers in a medium sized municipality, where five of the teachers worked in the suburbs to the Big City and one teacher worked in the downtown Big City. All respondents in the study were in favor of conducting outdoor education. The respondents claimed that it promoted children´s health and motor skills. The result also shows that the teachers saw a great opportunity for learning related to outdoor education, by using the resources of nature.

Negativa attityder gentemot personer med psykisk sjukdom förekommer bland sjukvårdspersonal. Sjuksköterskeutbildningens psykiatriska delkurs är uppbyggd på olika sätt på olika högskolor i landet. Syftet var att studera sjuksköterskors och sjuksköterskestudenters attityder gentemot patienter med en psykisk sjukdom utifrån två frågeställningar: Vilken betydelse har olika bakomliggande faktorer för sjuksköterskors attityder? Går det att påverka dessa attityder och i så fall på vilka sätt? Metoden var en litteraturstudie, där kvalitativa och kvantitativa artiklar studerades och jämfördes. De teoretiska referensramar, som användes, var Parses omvårdnadsteori och den socialpsykologiska Tripartite Model of Attitude Change.

The purpose of this thesis for Sapa Heat Transfer is to examine a furnace in which aluminium is pre-heated before hot rolling. The project is modeled in a computer environment in which the air flow in the furnace and the heat transfer to the aluminium solids are included. The computer environment and its governing equations, as well as boundary conditions and generalizations, are presented and explained.The simulations are based on two models. The first model has an asymmetric solid placement, which is how it looks in today's ovens. It is validated against collected data.

Background: The district nurse's competence description is comprehensive and sets high standards for a wide range of skills. The population's need for health care will rise according to life expectancy, lifestyle diseases and multi-morbidity increases. To graduate as a district nurse, 75 higher education credits are needed and after graduation, the district nurse must have developed both personal qualities and gained skills that makes it possible to work in primary care, child / school health care and home care. Aim: The aim of this study is to highlight the newly qualified district nurse experiences in developing professional identity and describe on how this development affects nursing.Method: In the pilot study a qualitative method with an inductive approach was used, and data collection was made by four semi-structured interviews. The interviews were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.

Changes in the climate and the environment are largely consequences of human influences. Resources are given to teach adults about the environment. However, there are problems in focusing on adults because it is difficult to influence people when they already have created a lifestyle. We have instead chosen to focus on teaching children about changes in the climate and the consequences of this.Many of the toys available on the market today encourage children to consume. Luxury cars and dolls with hundreds of accessories are often made of materials that has have a negative effect on the environment.Another problem we often encountered during the year is the declining interest in technology and science.

Discussing light and lighting in the night-time environment of Tensta, a Stockholm suburb built between 1962 and 1970, this thesis suggests that lighting should be designed for the outdoor environment as a whole. The feeling of safety and human perception are important components in this thesis. Starting with some comments on visual perception and how we adapt our sight to an interval of the visual input we get, makes it possible to understand that more light sometimes hides, rather than reveals, things. Amongst the dispersed houses, in the green parks of Tensta, this turns the pedestrian roads, lit by pole-top-mounted fixtures, into light tunnels in a dark surrounding.
