Tidig extubering efter hjärtkirurgi : Intensivvårdssjuksköterskans kunskap om tidig extubering och deras syn på faktorer som påverkar tiden till extubering

Early extubation of cardiac surgery patients has become increasingly important. The assessment of the patient before an early extubation is crucial and the intensive care nurses (ICU nurses) in this estimation is there for very important.The aim of this study was to examine critical care nurses' knowledge of early extubation, and what view ICU nurse has about factors that affect the time to extubation of cardiac surgery patients.A quantitative approach with descriptive and comparative design was used. Selection was all ICU nurses at a thoracic intensive care unit who were clinically active in patient care.The study showed that ICU nurses had good knowledge of why an early extubation was essential. However, the knowledge about the unit?s extubation criteria was low.

A qualitative study about nurses' experiences of working and caring in a Palestine refugee camp in Jordan and methodological reflections while conducting a study within this field

Jordan is a developing country and there are ten Palestine refugee camps throughout Jordansince the Arab-Israel conflict in 1948 and the Arab-Israel war in 1967. The camps are run byUnited Nation Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)which is the main provider of health care in the camp. Today, the fourth generation ofrefugees lives in the camps which are extremely overpopulated. The social and economicconditions in the camps are poor. The nurses' workload in the Health care centre in the campis getting harder and UNRWA's resources are getting strained due to funding shortfalls.

Bakgrund: Hopp är ett fenomen som är svårt att definiera. Hopp upplevs på olika sätt och i olika omfattningar av patienter med en dödlig sjukdom. Upplevelsen av hopp samspelar med upplevelsen av hopplöshet. Hopp är betydelsefullt för patienter i palliativ vård och kan ge patienter förmåga att uthärda lidandet och det betraktas som en inre resurs som är viktig för att uppnå livskvalitet. Background: To maintain or increase the trust in the market, companies can disclose more voluntary information in the annual reports. According to prior research the annual report is the primary source of information for small shareholders and investors. Thus, it is of interest to investigate why companies chose to report the voluntary information inquired by this group. Purpose: We investigate some company-specific factors to decide whether these determine the extent of voluntary information, particularly inquired by small shareholders and investors, in the annual reports of listed Swedish companies. We also aim to discuss underlying causes for our result.

Hjärtfrekvens och kortisolkoncentration hos valpar under olika typer av valptest :

The aim of this study was to find possible relations between behaviour and physiology for puppies during different parts of a puppy test. This work deals mainly with the physiological part of the study. Thirtysix puppies, från five litters, were tested in a behaviour test where heart rate was measured and saliva samples were collected before and after each part in the test. Saliva and urine samples were analyzed for corisol concentration as an indicatior of stress. The tests were performed during two consecutive days in the breeders' home when the puppies were seven weeks old. In addition, heart rate and cortisol levels were also measured in the bitch since we were interested in finding out if there were any relations between physiological levels in bitches and puppies.

Research is based on case studies, with conclusions drawn using an inductive approach.

 Like adult obesity, childhood obesity prevalence is rising, especially in the Western World.As many as 20 ? 25 percent of the ten years old children are overweight in Sweden. It isimportant to early identify overweight, since overweight could lead into diabetes, mentalsuffering, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.The aim of this study was to describe how nurses experience and perceive the conversationwith parents of overweight children. A qualitative method with a content analysis has beenused. Six nurses working in child health centre have been interviewed.The result shows that the conversation between the nurse and the parents of an overweightchild can be very difficult.

Hur kommunicerar sjuksköterskan med patienter som drabbats av afasi efter stroke? : En litteraturöversikt

Bakgrund: Varje år drabbas runt 30 000 svenskar av stroke och nästan en tredjedel av dem får afasi. Afasi innebär en förlust eller försämring av språksystemet som förekommer efter en hjärnskada. Patienter med afasi upplever detta tillstånd som en förlust av sin autonomi vilket påverkar livskvaliteten negativt. Att vårda någon som drabbats av afasi ställer särskilda krav på sjuksköterskan, både för att hitta nya vägar till kommunikation och för att kunna ge en så god vård som möjligt. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva komponenter som kan påverka kommunikationen med patienter som drabbats av afasi efter stroke utifrån sjuksköterskans perspektiv. Metod: Uppsatsen är en litteraturstudie där åtta kvalitativa artiklar, publicerade mellan åren 2000- 2012, ingår. Valda artiklar berör kommunikation mellan sjuksköterskan och patienter som drabbats av afasi efter stroke.

Skyddande isolering i samband med stamcellstransplantation : Patienters upplevelser av den skyddande isoleringen samt uppfattningar om sjuksköterskans roll under vårdtiden

When going through a stem cell transplantation a patient is forced to undergo protective isolation to inhibit risk of opportunistic infections related to the low leucocyte count as a result of aggressive pre-transplant chemotherapy treatment. Protective isolation has shown to have an impact on patient experiences during treatment and the aim of this study is to elucidate experiences of protective isolation of patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and to deduce patient perceptions of the role of nurses in protective isolation care. The presented study was performed as a mixed qualitative and quantitative survey at a hematopoietic ward in Sweden. Results were analyzed by Mayring (2000) and by descriptive frequency charts and show that patients in protective isolation experience alienation, necessity, safety and anxiety with regards to their protective situation. Considering the role of nurses patients perceive their role to be attendant, informant and acting as an executioner of medical implementations.

Vårdpersonalens bemötande av patienter med en utvecklingsstörning : Ur patienternas egna, anhörigas och vårdpersonalens perspektiv

Bakgrund: Ungefär en procent av Sveriges befolkning har en utvecklingsstörning. Ett kriterie för att ha en utvecklingsstörning är bland annat ett IQ på 70 eller lägre.  En utvecklingsstörning innebär en nedsättning i de kognitiva funktionerna vilket kan leda till svårigheter med kommunikationen. Bemötandet är ett abstrakt begrepp med olika dimensioner och innefattar bland annat genomförandet av ett samtal.Syfte: Syftet med fördjupningsarbetet var att belysa hur vuxna patienter med en utvecklingsstörning blir bemötta inom vården. Bemötandet beskrivs utifrån patienternas egna, anhörigas och vårdpersonalens perspektiv.Metod: Fördjupningsarbetet är en allmän litteraturstudie genomförd på ett systematiskt sätt. Resultatet är baserat på 12 kvalitativa respektive kvantitativa vetenskapliga artiklar.

Background and aims: The population of older people in our society is increasing. Agerelated changes in the skin results in a diminished perception of pain and pressure and a decreased microcirculation in the skin affects its ability to adapt to injury. Occurrence of pressure sore on geriatrikal clinics are 5-10%, witch means that between five and ten thousand patients gets daily treat for pressure sores. When the patient gets a pressure sore the need for help increases. A common apprehension is that if the patient?s affects with pressure sores it?s because of deficiency in care.
