The aim of this Master's thesis is to examine and analyze what discourses about children that can be found in three Swedish culture publications, and also to identify the different social roles that are attributed to children in these publications. The theoretical and methodological background is discourse theory, as described by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. Additional theory used is social constructionism and Norman Fairclough?s critical discourse theory. Three questions are asked: What discourse/s can be found in these publications? What do these discourses tell us about the view on children within the library domain? What social roles are attributed to the children in the texts and what consequences do these have for the power configuration between children and adults? Furthermore there is a discussion concerning what effects these discourses might have on the direct and indirect reception of children in the library.

Thoroughbred racehorses have suffered from exercise-induced haemorrhage for over 300 years. Almost all competing horses develop exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH) at some point but most horses don?t suffer from reduced competing capacity due to the disease. The cause of the exercise-induced haemorrhage is unknown. The most believed theory today is that EIPH is induced by pulmonary stress failure caused by pressure over 100 mmHg in the pulmonary arteries during exercise.

Uppsatsens syfte är att förklara drivkrafterna som påverkade utvecklingen av den svenska marinen under åren 1999 - 2004. För att ta reda på svaret studeras utvecklingen och det politiska beslutsfattandet genom två olika perspektiv, avsikten är att ta reda på vilket perspektiv som har bäst förklaringskraft. Perspektiven baseras på två olika statsvetenskapliga förklaringsmodeller, som är hämtade från Graham Allisons Essence of Decision, Förklaringsmodellerna i denna uppsats kallas, det rationella aktörsperspektivet och det interna maktkampsperspektivet.Sammanfattningsvis kan konstateras att försvarsbeslut 2000 resulterade i en omfattande reducering av marinens organisation och har även haft stor påverkan på hur marinen ser ut idag. I undersökning framgår det hur komplex processen runt politisk beslutsfattning är. Flera olika påverkansfaktorer som ekonomi, försvarsgrensrivalitet och det politiska spelet har betydelse för slutresultatet.

Abstract This is a qualitative study of elderly people's experiences of loneliness and quality of life. Also the relationship between loneliness and quality of life are examined. Previous research has shown that social loneliness is about when the social context are lost while emotional loneliness can occur with the loss of close relationships. Quality of life is about a sense of connection but also the quality of life arises in the difference between the expectation of what one is and what one wishes to have. This study has shown that the interviewees preferences, activities, social networks and low expectations on their life situation makes interviewees perceive themselves to be less lonely and have a good quality of life.

This thesis aims to investigate whether the parties Danish People?s Party, the Progress Party, the Finns Party and the Sweden Democrats can be categorized within the same party family, based upon the parties positions regarding the EU and European integration. The thesis contributes to increased knowledge and deeper understanding about these parties stances toward the EU and European integration, with a particular focus on how euroscepticism is expressed within each party. The thesis addresses the following research questions: which category of euroenthusiast, europragmatist, eurosceptic and euroreject best describes each of the four parties? Do the parties fall within the same category, or are they dispersed across different categories? The categories are based on different conceptualizations of euroscepticism (Kopeck? & Mudde, 2002), which composes the theoretical framework along with an analytical scheme based on the different conceptualizations.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att urskilja motiven till varför företag väljer att flytta produktion närmare kärnverksamheten genom att undersöka bakomliggande motiv och resultat av flytten. Med utgångspunkt från studier av insourcing och tidigare forskning om faktorer för omlokalisering ämnar denna uppsats att undersöka vilka motiven är för producerande företag att flytta produktionen närmare kärnverksamheten. En fallstudie på sex företag med kärnverksamhet i Sverige och som har eller ämnar flytta sin produktion eller del av produktion undersöks gällande sina motiv till flytten. De studerade företagen är Esska, Thermia, Ostnor, Yaskawa Nordic, Scania och Volvo. I en jämförande sammanställning analyseras motiven och ställer dessa mot teorin för att undersöka vad som används i praktiken.Resultatet av studien visade att de viktigaste motiven till att flytta produktion närmare kärnverksamheten var att minska kostnaden för tillverkningen, öka kvaliteten på sina produkter, minska lagret och det bundna kapitalet.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera sektorn obetalt arbete. En stress kan  bildas av att det obetalda arbetet tar tid från andra åtaganden i livet. Lösningar som presenteras för att komma runt denna stress är ofta inriktade på individer. Då det hushållsnära obetalda arbetet oftast utförs av kvinnor och tar tid från det som annars skulle kunnat användas till förvärvsarbete skulle man kunna hävda att det råder en strukturell obalans i samhället. Här granskas om de individinriktade lösningarna för att skapa balans är med och bidrar till den strukturella obalansen.Teorin om work life balance granskas och även de förslag som teorin ger för att skapa en mer balanserad vardag.

As companies exert themselves to find new ways of achieving market dominance and stronger brands, the phenomenon co-branding has become increasingly popular. By cooperation between two different firms the combined effects can result in synergies not only on the balance sheet, but even through softer values such as Brand recognition, equity and larger market share. Recently the fashion company H&M launched a collection together with the esteemed fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The objective of this paper is to examine the effects the collaboration had on consumer?s attitudes towards the two brands.

There are no set guidelines on how to interpret the criteria?s in the adjustment rule within the meaning of the companies act. The criteria?s are not discussed in literature and the Swedish case law in this area is very limited. A reason for the limited use of the adjustment rule is the slow and very costly process, which does not grantee the outcome of the case.

Att åstadkomma en önskvärd styrning mot gemensamma mål är ett ständigt pågående arbete inom samtliga organisationer. De styrmedel som studeras är informella och formella styrmedel samt organisationsstruktur. I denna uppsats studeras de ovan nämnda styrmedlen utifrån de anställdas perspektiv vid två institutioner inom Uppsala universitet. För anställda vid institutionerna finns tre arbetsuppgifter; forskning, undervisning och administrativt arbete. Enligt Ouchi påverkas valet av styrmedel bland annat av organisationens storlek, därför skiljer sig institutionerna åt i storlek, både vad gäller antalet anställda samt antal helårsstudieplatser.Vi har inte funnit några skillnader mellan institutionernas formella styrmedel.

Today, there is no uniform definition of what an ethical fund is. Fund management companies choose themselves what they believe is ethical and not. The lack of the definition makes it difficult for consumers to understand why these funds are special compared to other funds. The purpose of this study is to examine three Swedish companies; KPA Pension, Swedbank Robur and Folksam, to obtain a clearer picture of the concept ethical funds and its definition. The study describes each company's view of Ethics and how they may affect other companies to work for a more sustainable world.

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to study the causal relationship between bank sector development and economic growth in four Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway).Method: Our thesis is based on a quantitative method. The study consists of a compilation and analysis of key financial indicators that represent economic growth and bank sector development. A Granger causality test has been conducted on the time series in order to measure the causal link between economic growth and bank sector development.Theoretical framework: The study is based on the theory of endogenous growth and the causal relationship between bank sector development and economic growth also known as the demand following and supply leading hypothesis. Results: The results of the four countries are ambiguous. Except for Denmark, that follows the supply leading hypothesis, the remaining countries do not show a unanimous result..

The purpose of my work is to understand and examine the reasons why Ethiopia has not developed a larger decline of female genital mutilation, despite their ban on it? A ban that has been operating for ten years should reasonably have reached a greater change than the one Ethiopia has developed today. Based on two different branches of feminist theory, the liberal feminist theory and radical feminist theory, I will try to understand the potential power relationship that can be a immense reason for Ethiopia's continued practice with regard to female genital mutilation. I will examine the liberal feminist approach when it comes to seeing the state as the source of the balance of power that generate inequality in the world between men and women. I will also apply the radical feminist theory on my case study and understand the problem of patriarchy and its already set roles for men and women that we are following in the society today, resulting in gender inequality. The result shows that the radical feminist approach with patriarchy as essential explanation, which articulates that because of ancient traditions and the exercise of power, the amendment must be the changing of power relations between men and women in the private sphere rather than the liberal feminist approach which applies that the state repair the problem..

Den 31 augusti 2007 lämnade det norska och svenska högkvarteren in ett förslag på fördjupatförsvarssamarbete mellan länderna. Det råder det inga som helst tvivel om att den mest väsentligadrivkraften för detta samarbete är ekonomi. Bägge länderna riskerar att förlora väsentliga delar avsina förmågor p.g.a. nedskurna budgetar. Man vill därför åstadkomma ett ?ömsesidigtförstärkande? av de bägge ländernas produktionsförutsättningar.

Denna fallstudie bygger på och är ett fall av en gränsöverskridande operativ funktion mellan Sverige och Norge. Utbyte av och idéer kring en gemensam Recognized Air Picture (RAP) har under ett decennium pågått mellan de nordiska länderna Sverige, Norge och Finland. Arbetet har varit en osammanhängande följetong. Trots detta är utbyte av RAP ett av mycket få nordiska militära samarbetsprojekt som genomförts från idé till operativ drift sedan initiativet till Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO). Det är därför intressant att lära mer om de drivande faktorerna bakom detta lyckade samarbetsprojekt.
