This master's thesis is about alternative career opportunities for library and information science graduates. Ever since the beginning of our education we have been interested in working outside of the traditional libraries. Now that we are about to receive our degrees in library and information science we are doubtful if the competence we have obtained is enough to meet the demands of the labour market. The employment field we have been studying in this master's thesis is information management, since this is a field that we find comparable to library and information science. Our study involves a qualitative survey amongst recruiting companies to investigate how the recruiters value different educations, competences and personal skills when they employ staff within the field of information management.

Sweden's school voucher reform has made the Swedish school system into one of the world's most liberalized. The debate concerning the ownership of Swedish schools is intense and the Swedish Minister of Education is open to restricting private equity owned companies from running schools. Interestingly, fewer calls are heard for restricting smaller profit-driven companies from owning schools. This essay aims to examine whether or not the quality of education provided by an individual school changes if it is acquired by a large private equity owned school group. This is done by conducting a comparative study on four independent schools recently acquired by AcadeMedia, Sweden's biggest private equity owned school group.

Bakgrund: Mot bakgrund av ett ökat antal fall med prostatacancer på ett företag erbjöds alla anställda män över 40 år av arbetsgivaren att genomföra en PSA-provtagning hos företagshälsovården i förebyggande syfte. Som företagsläkare är det otillfredsställande att ta beslut om åtgärder utifrån enbart provresultat utan annan information, varför man beslöt att göra en studie av dem som hade erbjudits PSA-prov.Syfte: PSA-screening är kontroversiellt även på global nivå. Syftet var att undersöka attityden till PSA-screening och speciellt klinisk undersökning vid provtagning, informationsnivån om PSA hos de tillfrågade samt eventuella samband mellan attityd/informationsnivå och besvär/ärftlig belastning.Undersökt grupp: 48 män, alla över 40 år - på samma arbetsplats, där man misstänkte ökat antal fall med prostatacancer som tidigare hade fått erbjudande om PSA-test och uttryckt sig positivt om att delta i studien. Härav besvarade 37 enkäten, vilket var den slutliga gruppen för undersökningen. Metod: En enkät med 29 frågor om information och allmän attityd till PSA-screening, eventuellt genomförd PSA-provtagning och/eller läkarundersökning samt eventuella vattenkastningsbesvär och hereditet för prostatacancer tillsändes undersökningsgruppen.Resultat: Drygt 2 år efter introduktionen av erbjudandet om PSA-screening för alla anställda på 40 år eller däröver, var en stor majoritet (89% enligt enkäten) fortsatt positiva till genomförandet av PSA-screening inom Företagshälsovården.

Companies today face more and more demands from society and stakeholders. It is no longer about just satisfying shareholders, sales and making a profit. Consumers are becoming more aware of products effects and the consequences it has on humans, our environment and the generation ahead of us. NGO:s and society request that companies take responsibility and actions toward a more sustainable business. Many investors analyze companies? sustainability regarding social and environmental issues when it comes to choosing a company to invest in.

This thesis is a queer masculinity reading of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?s short story collection The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (1894). The analysis focuses on the dissonances, tensions and queerness that reside within the text itself. This has been done from my problem statement: How is Sherlock Holmes and John Watson?s sexuality and masculinity portrayed within the boundary of the text? What is being said, what is hidden, and what is dealt with silently? To reveal these queer parts this analysis has been focused around five themes: the late Victorian male, the Woman, countertypes and decadence, the homosocial sphere and sexuality.

The Swedish agricultural sector is currently experiencing substantial structural changes, where the number of agricultural enterprises continuously decreases and the average farm size increases. In order to maintain competitiveness, it is important to be aware and adapt to changes concerning the surroundings of the company (Johnson et al., 2011). Agricultural commodity prices sharply fluctuate on the global market in recent years, affecting the profitability of farmers. High volatility market requires tools to reduce price variations and increases the need of decision-making (Bouder & Beth, 2003). Farm-based grain handling facilities increases the sale options regarding agricultural commodities; a flexible strategy to get additional compensation for the storing the grain produced on the farm (Edling, 2002; Edwards, 2013).

In the current situation in the housing market and in particular the inner city much attention is directed towards achieved prices per square meter in sales. The indicator is as a principle an appropriate measure of the housing market?s health and development, and can to some extent be used to make approximations of the general economic health status of municipalities and counties. It occurs occasionally that questions about whether prices are based on fundamentals at all times.The thesis questions that very issue, not from a macro accompanying financial perspective but rather from a microeconomic perspective, where each tenant ownership in the study is a micro-object. Are the observed prices per square meter rational relative to housing cooperative?s assets or is there a lack in the observed prices anchoring the respective association's finances.

The Civil Engineering office in Skellefteå needs to develop the users' participation in the planning of parks and playgrounds. In order to get such a procedure to work one have to find a method that can work in the daily activity. My work aims to find such a method and to implement it in practice. Apart from helping the Parks departement to find an functional method I will also develop a deepened knowledge about users?participation wich can be very useful i my future profession. This work can be divided in three stages.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att följa och dokumentera en komplett ombyggnad av en befintlig golfbana med omfattande dräneringsproblem. Dessa problem har med tiden resulterat i förkortad spelsäsong och försämrad spelupplevelse för golfklubbens medlemmar. Arbetet med ombyggnaden skulle följas på plats under perioden 2007-2009, då ombyggnaden föregick, med en parallell litteraturstudie som behandlade tillämpade metoder och tekniker. Litteraturstudien relaterar till hur erkända och väl beprövade rekommendationer från United States Golf Association (USGA) skall tillämpas vid denna typ uppbyggnad av spelytor. Rekommendationerna går att tillämpas på olika sätt under olika förhållanden, vilket även Svenska Golfförbundets (SGF) anpassning av dessa riktlinjer påvisar.

The main purpose of this master thesis is to identify the issues concerning the transformation process of a product oriented company into a service oriented company, and how these issues can be overcome. We will exemplify this by developing a dewatering pump rental concept for ABS, and identify the drivers and barriers for ABS when implementing the service oriented rental concept in Sweden and Poland. This master thesis is based on the systems perspective. The reason for this is the required holistic perspective, where the system has to be regarded from different points of departure in order to be understood. The theoretical studies include services and change management.

Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta reda på i vilken omfattning kooperativ och ideella organisationer använder sig av social redovisning. Vi vill undersöka hur och varför de redovisar det sociala ansvarstagandet och om de använder sig av riktlinjer, rekommendationer eller andra verktyg i arbetet med den sociala redovisningen. Metod: Studien har utförts med hjälp av en kvalitativ metod då vi ansåg detta vara en lämplig ansats med tanke på de många ?mjuka? variabler som finns i den sociala redovisningen. Två personliga intervjuer har genomförts med respondenter från Basta respektive Barncancerfonden. Informationen vi erhållit har sammanställts och jämförts för att sedan kopplas till teoristudierna.

Optimization of soil tillage and crop rotation is important in many aspects, but particularly in maximizing profit margins. Since the economic outcome is usually decisive, it can be interesting to study different combinations of soil tillage systems and crop rotations in order to identify the maximum economic outcome. How a crop functions in a particular tillage system determines whether it is profitable to grow that crop. Different tillage systems affect the soil and its processes in different ways. Reduced tillage often works best on weak-structured heavy clays and on silty clays.

Bakgrund: Torö Stenstrand tillhör naturreservatet Ören som är beläget på en udde på ön Torö i den sydligaste delen av Stockholms län. I slutet av 1970-talet kom vågsurfingsporten till Sverige och Torö Stenstrand. Det var några lokala entusiaster som upptäckte platsen och såg att vågorna lämpade sig för surfing. Sedan dess har officiella surf-SM genomförts av Swedish Surfing Association i stort sett varje höst sedan början av 90-talet. Det finns dock en konflikt kring frågan om stranden bör vara helt tillgänglig för allmänheten eller om de privata tomterna, som finns längsmed vissa delar av Stenstranden, ska ha äganderätt av marken ner till vattnet.

Det verkar råda stor konsensus om att matematikundervisningen är viktig för att Sverige skall kunna hävda sig och kunna konkurrera i en global värld. Samtidigt visar det sig att eleverna i allt större utsträckning har svårt att nå målen för undervisningen. En undervisning, som forskningen visar, är hårt styrd av den matematikbok som används.I Finland har det visat sig att vilken lärobok som används i undervisningen får statistiskt signifikanta konsekvenser för elevernas resultat. I uppsatsen undersöks om samma statistiskt signifikanta samband även föreligger i Sverige. 149 skolor omfattande 13 408 elever ingår i den statistiska kvantitativa studien.

Background: The Swedish fashion industry grows steadily, today it?s populated by many small and medium sized companies. Due to the big clothing chains dominant position small businesses risks to be ousted out of the fashion industry.Smaller companies may find it difficult to reach out to the customer by traditional advertising because their budgets are often smaller. It is therefore important for smaller companies to create loyal customers. If the smaller sized businesses in the fashion industry do not follow the rapid developments in society and focus on building strong brands and relationships, they will have problems with surviving in the long run.Problem definition: Which communicative factors are important in the choice of brand strategy to create a long-term survival for small and medium-sized companies in the fashion industry?Purpose: The purpose of the essay is to analyse and evaluate the brand as a communications tool for building a brand image.Method: The data which is being used in the essay is collected from interviews with companies and survey of each company's existing and potential customers.Theoretical perspective: Relationship Marketing Perspective and Transaction Marketing PerspectiveTheories: Brand Strategies, Total Communication, Brand Equity, Involvement Theory, Service Value Profit Chain.Empiric: The empirical data is primary data gathered from interviews with a representative for each company and from the questionnaires distributed to the customers of each company.Analysis: The analysis is an interpretation of the empirical material collected from interviews with each company and customers survey.
